I used my Kenmore basic machine for 32 years before it gave up. I researched a replacement for weeks; comparing accessories, speed, weight, application/usage & pricing. I settled on this one because; I am experienced but generally do 'basic' repairs & make a lot of 'craft' type projects (bags, heat pads etc). I needed & wanted a heave machine that could handle the thicker fabrics. I also generally use straight or zig zag stitches, but do have occasion where a little different stitch is preferred, the 23 this one has is plenty! Also at 60... for the first time I am finding the self threading a real bonus! This unit came with plenty of accessories & will use (buttonholer, zipper etc). After I decided on this model I found out 4 other family/friends have the same one & love it too. Only negative I have is I immediately wanted to replace the LED light with a brighter one.... It was NOT replaceable. I think the LED module is entirely too dim!
I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but my Singer that had just died on me had served me very well for 45 years, so I was willing to step out and get this one that fit in my budget. It came just at the right time. I've made over 100 fabric masks during this Coronavirus pandemic. It's working fantastic. I've only used it for about two weeks now, but I'm feeling very optimistic about keeping it around for the rest of my life.
I use it for everyday sewing and doing some masks for us to use. My husband is helping me check it out as I have some vision problems. It has worked great so far. Easy to thread. I do keep forgetting where backstitch is but do like the location and will soon remember where it is
I couldn't get over it! I was a big sewer in the 70-80's, making coats and whatever for myself and then my children. I had my mother's old Singer and it was the best. Feeling of comfort. I gave it to a daughter and got busy with life and teaching, stopped sewing. With all that's going on, I thought it time to take up sewing again. This machine was rated one of the best, didn't cost a fortune, figured why not? It IS my mother's machine (way lighter though). It is like finding an old friend- couldn't be happier!
This replaced my 30 year old Brother sewing machine and I cannot believe the difference. So easy to use, so smooth, easy to thread, I love the visible bobbin whilst sewing, never a surprise when it runs out of thread. I am not a great seamstress, I wanted something basic and reliable and easy to use and this machine exceeds all my expectations - I love it!
I love the machine but it was received with no manual or stitch guide books which were to be included. I have emailed a request for them but have received no answer. I am very disappointed in the customer support I have received so far.
I am not happy with this machine and have attempted to contact them to return it, but no response to date. Poor or nonexistent customer service

Shar, sorry you are not happy with the purchase. If this was bought on Singer.com we have a 30 day return policy. If you cannot reach Customer Care by phone, please email them at TalktoUs@Singerco.com. They will need the order number for the Singer Store purchase so they can check your records. If the machine was purchased from one of our vendors, then you must contact the seller about their return policies. Unfortunately with only "Shar" to go on, I was unable to pull up any information.
