Ugly color, but a good machine. Wore out the gears on my old Touch&Sew, so I needed a new machine. Variety of stitches is good, but no chain stitch for basting. Bobbin must be wound on top of the machine rather than in the bobbin case. Came with several extra feet. Hoped my old feet would work, but this is "low profile", so had to buy extra feet too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

no Manual included, so you have to get on the internet to find out how to use it. All they give you is how to thread machine and how to fill the bobbins.

The needle positions doesn’t work on either of my heavy duties don’t know why and the speed is slower than my last heavy duty. But all in all a work horse nonetheless.

We regret to learn that you are having issues with your Singer Heavy Duty model 4452 sewing machine. Needle position for a straight stitch can be adjusted two ways on our Heavy Duty machines.
The first way uses the needle position dial.
The second way uses the stitch width dial.
To center your needle, your needle position dial needs to be set to center position and your stitch width dial needs to be set to “0”.
The needle position dial will not function unless the width dial is on “0”.

Really is an easy straight forward machine. As a beginner I decided I would need ease of use, not a huge learning curve, wanted it to be fun after all and still repair or sew heavier fabrics if needed. That is why why I went with this mechanical rather than digital type of machine.

This machine is fast, and sews anything I throw at it. I make multilayer bags and also sew leather and vinyl. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. It is easy to tread and bobbin winder is fast. To maintain is a breeze. I'm sure I will wear out before this wonderful machine. Did I mention it's inexpensive?

I have been sewing for 47 years and tried a lot of machines. I needed a basic machine that could sew through jeans and curtains at a decent speed. Other machines are meant for detail sewing, they don't have enough strength or don't like it if you sew to fast. I can get curtain hems and straight seams done quicker without the machine telling me I'm sewing too fast or getting stuck with thick materials. Still, I can use this machine for for delicate applications too.
