Really is an easy straight forward machine. As a beginner I decided I would need ease of use, not a huge learning curve, wanted it to be fun after all and still repair or sew heavier fabrics if needed. That is why why I went with this mechanical rather than digital type of machine.

This machine is fast, and sews anything I throw at it. I make multilayer bags and also sew leather and vinyl. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. It is easy to tread and bobbin winder is fast. To maintain is a breeze. I'm sure I will wear out before this wonderful machine. Did I mention it's inexpensive?
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been sewing for 47 years and tried a lot of machines. I needed a basic machine that could sew through jeans and curtains at a decent speed. Other machines are meant for detail sewing, they don't have enough strength or don't like it if you sew to fast. I can get curtain hems and straight seams done quicker without the machine telling me I'm sewing too fast or getting stuck with thick materials. Still, I can use this machine for for delicate applications too.

Don't like the manual on line. Went to your website to download the manual. wanted to print out a hard copy. What a mess. Noted manual printed in english and spanish. To print it is necessary to print both. 2 times what I wanted or needed. Doesn't make sense.

I bought the heavy duty 4452 about a month ago and I can’t believe how much I was struggling before I received this machine. I enjoy sewing again! My only issue is that the presser foot doesn’t lift high enough for easy insertion with multiple layers. Would definitely recommend this machine so you can actually enjoy sewing again!

The Singer model 4452 presser foot lifts to about ½ inch when the lifter is in the normal up position (at this point top tension is disengaged). The presser foot can lift to about 5/8 inch, by lifting the presser foot lifter higher, in order to give extra space for placement of thicker fabric or multiple layers of material under the presser foot more easily. The presser foot will not stay in the higher position without the lifter being held in the uppermost position.

I learned to sew on a Singer sewing machine made in 1919. I must have put hundreds of hours on it. My Grandmother taught me. We still own it back in Romania and it still runs... so buying a new one same make was not a hard decision. Exceptional tradition and product.
