18 month life + poor support from Singer

Bought my HD4452 in March of 2021. Worked great for a while. This machine has less than 15 hours on it, but quit functioning properly; skipped stitches, birds nest on bottom of stitch, etc. I'm using Singer needles, thread and bobbins. The tension is set properly. The bobbin works as it should, the needle doesn't always pick up the thread. Seems like timing, right? nope, I had to remove the plate to clear the birds nest and observed the "hook". Timing was spot on and picks up the thread without the plate, but mostly won't with the plate back on. OK, a product may have an issue, it happens, but here's what I discovered: The warranty only covers "mechanical" for 90 days. Singers web site shows a repair/warranty center in Southern California "Singer Sewing Center of Orange County", that relocated, dropped Singer from it's name, and no longer sells or advertises warranty services for Singer products. Singer Customer Care provided this response:
"Robert,
They are a small location and if everyone is with customers or working on machines, they do not get to the phones. Sometimes the voice mail gets full and you will get some unusual recording that it is no longer a working number. The location is still one of our warranty centers. I would encourage you to keep trying. They are closed on Mondays. I am sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced.
You will need to have your purchase receipt and fill out the attached form when taking your machine to be repaired.
Thank you for choosing Singer."
So keep trying a location that moved, dropped Singer from their name, stopped selling or advertising Singer products and services, and sells competitor products, and is too small or busy to help you anyway? Really?
Seems Singer is headed the way of Montgomery Wards, Sears, and a host of other companies no longer in business. Once the standard for sewing, my experience is the stanard of how NOT to provide Customer Care.

I am very sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your Singer sewing machine. Thank you for contacting us and allowing us the opportunity to work with you to resolve your issue. I am showing one of our representatives is currently assisting you. If you need further assistance, please reply directly to the representative you are working with.
I would give a rating of 4.6 if that was an option. I wanted a heavy duty machine that could handle thick fabrics. My old Singer still works like a champ but cannot handle the thicker stuff. The Singer 4452 fits the bill nicely. I already made a couple items and the Singer 4452 didn't even break a sweat. I love the increased speed as well. The only issue I have is that a few of the components are rather flimsy. The most important being the thread spindle. I am concerned that if I catch it by accident it will snap right off. I would think they could manufacture a piece that would be more durable without affecting the price too much. Still, I really like this machine and look forward to trying out some new projects.

Great machine so far. I’d advise taking it to a repair shop straight out the box so they can oil it and check if everything’s working (the needle threader didn’t work but they fixed it). I’m a new sewer and jammed my machine the first time using it and had to get it fixed. Like a lot of people, I’d decided to start sewing COVID masks to sell or donate. My biggest issue with the machine is the foot pedal, it’s really fast so you have to apply light pressure when sewing. Overall, I like the machine and I believe it to be a good investment.

Dear Selly, Thank you for your review, we greatly appreciate it. We will share this with the Product Development team to let them know how we are doing. Take care and happy sewing.
The machine runs very smooth and handles multiple layers without difficulties. I only wish the manual came with the machine. I was able to download the manual and delete all the pages in different languages to cut down on the waste of paper before printing. I do request that you include the BOBBIN SIZE IN THE MANUAL. You list all the needle sizes but fail to mention the bobbin size needed. I finally found it by going back to the website and looking up the machine "specifications" and finally found it way at the bottom!! That took me over several hours of searching just to find needed information that should have been easily found in the manual. I expect to get many years out of this machine.
Needed a machine to sew leather. Bought this after a suggestion from my service site of my Phaff creative Icon 2. The Phaff could not sew leather with out jamming. The singer sews it like cotton! The machine is a bit loud, but a powerhouse!!
Love the new Machine! Just getting used to a few changes

I love the new machine and all the new stitches. The one being replaced is a Singer Genie from 1976 with 4 stitches (Still operates, but needed some minor repair and parts are obsolete). I love this new machine, but really prefer the reverse switch on the other one. Seems kind of at a bad angle on this one. But I can learn to live with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This SINGER® HD6360M Mechanical Heavy Duty Sewing Machine is sooooo much better than my previous machine. It is easy to adjust and maintain. It feels like it is easier to control what is happening with the stitch and the sewing is just easier. I have used it to make different types of face masks using multiple layers of materials with of all kinds of thicknesses. I have no complaints about the sewing abilities of the needle itself. This machine is definitely a workhorse and something I'd like to try using for my more heavy duty projects like hemming my thick jeans!!!
