I wouldn't buy this machine

I just bought this machine with the intention of using it for school. I have an antique I've used for years but the course required me to update. I did my research and settle on this machine and I soon realized I was wrong. When I got home I read the manual throughly like I would do with any new machine and when I finally started to sew there was a knocking sound in the main housing. I haven't had it out of the box longer than a few hours and there was something wrong with the machine. After I contacted them all i was told was to rethread, try a new needle, or make sure to only use the bobbin meant for the machine. All of which I tried before contacting them - I was than told that if that didn't work to go out and service it. Now, this machine is less than a week out of box and used six times in fear of making it worse - I shouldn't have to service a brand new machine that I've had for less than a week. I'm returning it to the store in the morning - it was suppose to be heavy duty but it proves otherwise. It was a waste of money and I'm disappointed with how the customer care team handled my issue.

I received my 4452 for Christmas last year (2018) and use it almost every day with no issues until recently. I was 3/4 through a project and it simply froze. I cannot move the hand wheel at all! I took it to JoAnn Fabric where it was purchased and was told that it was the motor. This is the first time I have had a Singer die on me when the machine is just under a year old. I was told the motor was under warranty for the motor but not the labor. Very frustrating for a machine that claims to be capable of handling home projects. The last Singer I had stopped picking up stitches and the gentleman repairing it said to replace the machine due to the plastic parts that Singer now uses. I will take the machine to a authorized repair center, which is an hours drive, and get an estimate. I don't think I will purchase another Singer in the future when I have had two (2) break within the last 3 years!
I bought this machine to replace my old trusty singer to use as a backup. Well, it now takes its spot as my primary machine! It's so easy to use! And that reverse stitch? Amazing. I don't even have to stop sewing to use it. I love when I step on the pedal that there is no delay unlike some other computerized machines! It can get so frustrating when my other machine dictates how fast i can go. Free the pedal! This machine takes off from 0-60 in 1.2 seconds! Simple, no nonsense machine, with just enough features to not overwhelm you with all the high falootin-ness. Get this machine and git er dun!
Made one item before it "locked up" drove it100 miles to repair shop. He took it apartand oiled it up well while I watched". Took it home (100 miles back), worked great while I almost finished a second item, locked up again. Drove it to repair again, new part required ( you mean 300 more miles!), traded it in on an old Kenmore on the shelf. Been happily sewing ever since!

This machine is terrible. Bought it new and was told it would sew heavy fabrics. I have had so much trouble getting the right tension. I have retreaded many times to try to get it to stitch right. I have had it for a while and every time I use it I end up with a mess with the stitching. Never another Singer for me. I wish I had never got it. And it wasn't cheap!
I wanted a machine without a bunch of digital features that would inevitably break and I'd be unable to repair. I've used my roommate's brother for several years. It has a million different stitches and fancy features, but when it broke recently (and she can't fix it), I decided it was time to get my own. I wanted a reliable, sturdy machine that I could fix when needed. This thing looks like it's out of the 1960s, but it's perfect. Runs great! I haven't sewn any thicker fabrics yet, but am looking forward to doing so without any issues.
After using a Singer Touch and Sew 758 for over 40 years I was a little disappointed in the 4452 machine. It runs loud and hard but I’ll keep sewing with it hopefully it will loosen up. What I don’t like is the bobbin having to take it out to fill, I was spoiled to my old machine. Overall, I haven’t had it long enough to say what it will or will not do. I do know that I can’t use all my singer attachments.
This is a wonderful machine. I can sew sheers and multiple layers of wool. I love how easily it works with all fabrics with the right needles. I is heavy enough that when I sew it doesnt move around. I really like the handle on top, makes it easier to move around. This is a top quality machine I recommend
