Phone slips around India’s the case.

The phone slips around inside the case. This is a clear miss by Otterbox. It makes creaking sounds as you use the phone and the phone shifts around inside the case. The rubber outer layer bulges in the underside while you use the phone too. I’m worried if I dropped this phone it would shatter and at the very least my phone finish will be rubbed off on all of the edges as others have mentioned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My first Defender had a built-in screen protector, which I miss. For the next three I had to purchase an add-on separately, and not all of them install perfectly. Apart from this complaint, this Defender seems as sturdy as the others were. It seems a bit lighter and less clunky--I greatly appreciate this because the phone it protects is so large. The OtterBox installed easily and feels capable of standing up to years of use. A great product but (from this consumer's point of view) not perfect.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm writing this from my work computer on my lunchbreak, as this case failed against a forklift tire. Which, in all fairness, is not the case's fault, and the case itself is somewhat bent but largely unaffected, so... I'd give it more stars except for the following reason.
This case absolutely holds heat like nothing I've ever had from Otterbox before. To give you an idea, leaving the phone to charge on a hands free phone mount in a car with no air conditioning, driving with windows down at a temp of 75 degrees leaves the phone in a state where it can only maintain battery level, it can't increase due to the temperature. Using a resource heavy app, on multiple occasions, has left the case nearly burning hot to the touch, and I'm fairly acclimated to heat. Think, quesadilla after being removed from the pan for about a minute level of hot.

Holster is not as good a fit as in prior models. I have been using the Defender with holster for years with my different iPhones. This model was not well made. I purchased it twice and it is consistent. Disappointed that it easily falls out. Especially when I get out of my car or when I sat down on a plane seat it drops out.

This case scratched my phone.

took the iphone 14 PM out to clean it. after just over a month the case had scratched the paint off the bezzel around the screen. dissapointed with this because i trade my phones and this is going to diminish my phone’s value
