you just bought this portable air conditioner after learning that we have to replace our Central AC which we cannot afford. It was easy to install and works great so far. Plenty of cold air! We are very happy with it.
The pros: I really like the fact that there's 4 features on this unit. We have tried the dehumidifier on our basement bedroom (15' x 20' space) and it worked flawlessly, the bedroom sometimes smells because of the humidity, but this unit helps clear that up after running it for about 20 minutes. We have used the dehumidifier about 6 or 7 times for about an hour each time and still haven't had to empty the water reservoir that collects water, so that lets us know that it has a decent capacity, which translates to having to empty the tank less often, that's great in in this case since we do not have a drain in the bedroom. The A/C function works pretty much the same, except that it uses the temp sensor on the front of the unit to turn the compressor on or off while in use, and uses the fan function in between to move the cold air around the room. We have serious allergies during the spring so this unit helps us significantly because we no longer have to open the bedroom window in order to cool the basement on hot summer nights. We have not used the heat function, but assume that this should work with no issues. The fan function works just as well as any other.
The cons: The Blue LED on the unit does not dim or turn off when the unit is not detecting activity from the remote or the user on it's panel, so if you like to sleep in the dark this may be an issue, we simply just use a small book and placed it on top of the unit to cover it. This isn't necessarily a con, but the unit takes up a considerable amount of space with it's exhaust hose connected in the back, so take that into consideration if your space is already small. I wish the remote had a light up LED screen, this was a major fail on B&D's end, because I find myself adjusting certain things in the dark and HAVE to turn on the light or use my phone in order to actually use the remote.
Overall, I really like this unit, it performs as advertised and for the price I believe it's a value buy and would recommend.
We bought this when our central ac went out. It's keeping the house comfortable. It was easy to install. The only downfall was we had to get a hose extension because the one that comes with it isn't very long.
