I received this as a gift for Christmas. within a month it was caked in dust and had a ring on the floor of dust. I have never had one, but I do not think this one is very effective. I have noticed nothing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am extremely pleased with this air purifier. I didn’t know our lives needed this until Now! We slept so soundly last night with our very first use ever of an air purifier. It’s definitely a game changer for us with seasonal allergies, and asthma. I highly recommend this product!

Even though this is a simple product, getting started was a bit challenging. The bottom case where the filter is installed was not real easy to operate. It took me over 30 minutes to get the device on so I bring it on line. Once that was done everything else went smoothly. I’m still learning how to use my air purifier so I have no opinion.
