Not what it use to be!

I have been using this iron my whole life, but I've noticed the last three I have purchased have been really bad irons. It feels and looks the same, but they don't heat up as well, they leak, and doesn't produce the steam they use to. I've always bought this iron because of how well it use to be. Please make it the way you use to! I use to could by a iron and it would last at least 2 years. I've barely got two months out of this one and I've hated it from day 1. I should have took it back!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this iron about a year ago and its turns off and on. Won't heat at times. I really like the iron so I bought a second one hoping this one will last longer.

Great Iron - Doesn't Leak

Finally an iron that doesn't leak or spit water. I've owned irons that cost 3 or 4 times this one but they all would leak. The only think I wish this iron had is a stainless steel soleplate. It doesn't glide as smooth as irons with a stainless steel soleplate. That being said, I still prefer it over my more expensive German made iron

Can't figure out indicator lights???

There's nothing in the instructions about the different indicator light colors. As soon as I plug it in the light is GREEN. So that can't mean it's heated up to the temperature on the dial. Then there's a yellow light and sometimes a red one. The instructions don't say anything about the different colors and what they mean? This is used as a craft iron and I would really like to know when it's at the right temperature. Probably going to replace it with something else that I know when it's really hot.

Thank you for offering your feedback regarding your Black+Decker Classic Iron. I’m sorry to hear about your frustrations with the instructions and the indicator light. The indicator light will illuminate green while it is heating, and it will turn off once the temperature you’ve set it for has been reached. The iron also has an automatic shut off safety feature. Once the iron reaches the appropriate temperature, it will turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity if left on its soleplate or tipped over on its side. If left vertically on its heel rest, it will shut off after 8 minutes. The flashing red light is an indication that the iron has turned off automatically, and moving the iron should cause the iron to begin heating again. Your iron has a two year warranty and if you ever need assistance with it, I am at your disposal. Please reply to the email I’ve sent you from youropinionmatters@spectrumbrands.com so I can address any of your concerns.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This iron is just awesome! I love the retro look with modern upgrades. I especially like the auto shut off feature, gives me peace of mind just in case i forgot to turn it off. The button groove and pivoting cord is nice as well. This iron sure helps me get through my ironing quicker than my other iron. Definitely recommend it!
