Bought this unit in 2020 worked well for first summer but now when its extreme hot temperature outside unit doesn’t even work properly and just keeps blowing air like a fan no cold air coming through need to keep 2 extra fans in oder to get better sleep.I personally don’t recommend this product.

Does your air conditioner require algaecide?

I've had the unit for ten days, and while the CONDENSER may have saved us in the first 7 days of 32°C plus - LET ME TELL YOU: if you set up the "continuous feed" drain - because the Owner's Manual says the unit MAY SHUT DOWN if the internal drain pan becomes full (risking the SAFETY of you and YOUR PETS) - you will haul upwards of 6 litres of water a day to the bathroom, in Edmonton! Next up, in less than ten days, after noticing a horrible stink, you will discover this thing develops swamp rot, even though the exhaust hose is properly set up! Turns out you should open the housing and add a tab of ALGAECIDE to cope with this problem. I never should have sold my previous unit - it worked beautifully out of the box, and no one ever heard of these issues.

Be prepared to deal with a lot of water

I moved into an apartment building that doesn't allow window air conditioners, I had to buy a portable one. This being the only one in stock anywhere at the time was my only option. After running it for a week I noticed a small amount of water pooling on the ground. I then drained it from the bottom drain and also from the continuous drain and filled a milk jug in minutes. Since then I had to purchase a 10L bucket and run the continuous drain emptying the bucket at least twice a day here on Vancouver Island. Yes it does cool but it is maintenance required. Next year I will get an auto evaporate unit now that I know.

This portable AC is really good for cooling rooms up to 150 square feet. My bedroom is 150 square feet and cools the room efficiently. Sometimes, it gets insanely cold cause of how powerful this little machine is. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Leaks water

Was good for the first two weeks. Now it leaks water everywhere. I’ve had both drain plugs open with catch basins and it still leaks water from the underside of machine. Pretty unimpressed with this thing.

Purchase this air conditioner in August 2021. It worked great for the remainder of the summer. We loved that you no longer needed to drain the excess water. This year is a different story, as our machine is now leaking water and needs to be hooked up to a hose and bucket.

SAve your money

I bought an ac unit thinking I beat Vancouver's infamous 46 degree heatwave week. What a foolish mistake thinking a DANBY ac unit would save me.
Ive had this for a week and it works half the time. It takes a few hours in the late night for the room to get chilly, don't expect this to chill your room during the day. This danby unit works when it feels like it. It blows regular air when the block inside needs to reset itself without warning. So I been marinating myself in the heat with this thing pushing 46 degree heat around the room. I have it in a 150 sq. ft. room facing north east and I'm still melting. It'd be perfect for anything realistically less than 90 sq. Ft. This thing is rated for 8k BTU, but probably 5k SACC BTU. It's loud as hell. It's a glorified fan.
I am returning this once the heatwave week is over and grabbing a much better ac unit for an extra hundred bucks more.
