Q990C is a great sounding bar! As reviewers have repeatedly pointed out, Samsung's engineers provide an array of features that produce stellar sound out of the box. I don't understand, though, why Samsung doesn't make any effort to describe the various settings they provide - what they do, how to set them, what to expect. For instance, there appears to be two different settings that, based solely on their names, are related to voice. Even in the full product manual, there's barely more than acknowledgement that each setting exists. This is an odd tactic. For a bar as expensive as this, with as much engineering as has been devoted to it, one would think Samsung would provide enough guidance for us to adjust this product to its maximum potential in our own home. Please provide us with a "Tweaker's Manual"!

We appreciate you providing your feedback and experience with the HW-Q990D Soundbar. There is a wide range of audio adjustments available to tune the sound to your liking.

You can manually optimize your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (which looks like a gear), you can set the audio function such as Auto EQ, Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice Enhance mode, Night mode, Sync, Surround speaker mode, Virtual. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.

Alternatively, you can press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons.

You can try quickly optimizing the audio by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE SOUND.

To control the volume of each speaker, press the CH LEVEL button on the provided remote. Then select CENTER LEVEL, SIDE LEVEL, WIDE LEVEL, FRONT TOP LEVEL, REAR LEVEL, or REAR TOP LEVEL. Once you find the channel you are looking for, adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

There are multiple ways to control the bass levels for your new Soundbar.

1) Using the WOOFER button on the provided Soundbar remote. Use the woofer button by pushing forward or pulling backward on the button itself to adjust the bass levels between -12 or -6/+6. If you want to reset the bass to 0 then push the button in.
2) When you press the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the treble or bass levels between -6/+6.

Alternatively, you can adjust all of these same settings and more within the SmartThings app. Download the app for your iOS or Android device and then connect your Soundbar to Wi-Fi. From here, you will be able to adjust all of the same settings as the provided remote, but with the added benefit of being able to see the changes on your smart device.

Functional but not amazing

My expectations might have been too high after seeing the product page here. These are ok, but nothing incredible. They're has never once been a time I've thought, "Wow that sound is great". It's much an experience of, "Yes, I hear sound."
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unhappy, not working

Baught it few months ago, product not functioning after firmware update and Samsung is aware of the problem and will email me someday when they have a solution.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Blows Me Away Every Time!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This soundbar is seriously next-level. The Q990D with the rear speakers and Q-Symphony just makes everything sound HUGE. Movies feel like I’m in the theater — the bass hits hard, dialogue is super clear, and the surround sound really fills the whole room.
Setting it up was super easy, and it connected to my Samsung TV right away. I love that it’s wireless (except the power cords, of course), so there’s no messy cables all over.
Music sounds awesome too — crisp highs and deep lows — and Atmos effects are noticeable without being gimmicky. Honestly, it makes me excited to rewatch old movies just to hear them with this system.
If you want your TV setup to sound as good as it looks, this thing delivers. Couldn’t be happier with it!

Solid soundbar for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this soundbar to replace my Klipsch that kept breaking on me. Even though it is made of plastic, it is a better soundbar. The most thing I wish it had is a better subwoofer.
