Bricked after apparent auto update...no QSymphony, no sound, unresponsive to any input other than on/off. Will not connect to Smartthings, There doesn't appear to be a factory reset function. The problem appears to be widespread if the message board is any indication. Was a nice soundbar for 2 months...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not Impressed At All

I bought this for Christmas of 2024 to go with my Samsung 75" QLED QN800C tv. I wasn't that impressed with it, coming from a 13 year old Yamaha YSP-4300 that actually worked quite well, but thought to "upgrade" to the Samsung for the new TV. So, here it is March 12, 2025, three months into the year and my new soundbar is not working. One day it was fine and the next it powers on and does nothing...no volume, no control function at all. I contact Samsung "Cares" and go through a text session trying to troubleshoot the issue and after wasting an hour plus of my time, no luck. The solution? Box the unit up and send it via UPS for repair. Great!! My basically new unit getting sent to a repair shop to get fixed? I can see how this is going to work. The unit is as new as it gets.....no scratches, dings, or any other issues....see what it looks like once it's repaired and sent back!! I had the Yamaha for 13 years with no issues at all. That's what I get for "upgrading" to the Samsung. It's a poor set-up that you can't access the soundbar on the TV for the settings, just use the little cheap display on the front of the soundbar!! Even the TV does not look as good as my Panasonic 65" plasma set did. You know. sometimes if it isn't broke, don't fix it!!

Samsung pushed an update that bricked a large number of these soundbars including mine. It is very disappointing that multiple outlets have reported on this issue without an official response from Samsung. I expected better from this company. The issue is so big that it prevents any updating via USB. It may require a mass recall of these devices and an extended lead time for repair.

First Soundbar System

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first soundbar purchase and man did I start off with one of the best. When pairing the Q990D with my 75 inch Samsung tv I truly elevated my entertainment experience to a level I never dreamed. When streaming movies from native tv apps I get fully immersed from the Dolby Atmos for I truly feel like I am sitting inside a bubble with action happening behind me, above me, beside me, and in front of me. I am also able to pass my PS5 through the soundbar without losing any of my favorite gaming features. I have had zero regrets since making this purchase.
