[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you're like me and don't want to bother with extreme audiophile setups, this is a really good setup. It honestly sounds like a movie theater when you crank it up enough! I sometimes turn it down because I worry about noise complaints, so definitely no need to worry about it being loud enough! There is a night mode feature, so volume control is no issue at all either.
Music sounds great, movies are amazing assuming they're well mixed and the current problem of dialogue volume on 2 and everything else at 9. The only issue I personally have faced so far is every so often, maybe like once a week or so, the sound will get choppy for about 5 minutes then fix itself. Besides that, highly recommend.

While it’s great to hear that you love the sound quality of your HW-Q990D Soundbar, I’m sorry to hear of the difficulties you experienced with occasionally choppy sound.
Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. When the Soundbar is connected to the Internet, Auto Update allows software to update automatically even when the Soundbar is turned off. You can also update by using the SmartThings app.
If not connected to the internet, you can download it onto a USB device, and then upload it to your soundbar - no wireless connection required. Connect the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar.
1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper left corner.
2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes.
- During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
- If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
- When the latest version is installed, no update is performed.
- Depending on the USB type, the update may not be supported.
6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off

Great Upgrade, My wife even loves it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an HW-N950 that started acting up, and we were always turning up the volume when we needed to hear voices, and then it would get so loud during the music, we'd have to turn it down, so it was time to upgrade. Let me tell you, Holy cow, it's well worth it! I have an older Samsung TV, so I can't use all the features, such as "spacefit sound" but can still take advantage of most features! The bass on this is impressive, I wound up waking up to the bass, (i sleep over the room the soundbar is in) from what my wife was watching, and the TV volume was only at 8 or 9. Even with the bass set to 0, and the woofer at -6, it still woke me up. I wound up tweaking it a bit more, and haven't been woken up since. I was playing around with the settings and there's a "sound grouping" option to make the sound clearer in any location, and to quote my wife, "I prefer the way it sounds in this mode, it reminds me of a movie theater." My wife isn't one who is into the newest technology, so hearing her say this, made me smile and know the investment was well worth it!

Excellent soundbar system!

I purchased this soundbar system about 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with it. I did a lot of research before purchasing it, and it has very high reviews overall. I know that most soundbar systems have a slight latency between the dialog as it is spoken and the soundbar output, but I understand that this system is as good as it gets. Since I was also purchasing a Samsung QLED Neo television at the same time, it was a no-brainer to get a matching soundbar system. My wife and I wanted a new television because our hearing is starting to decline noticeably. When we would watch television, we had to have the closed caption on, in order to distinguish the dialog over the background noise and music in the television shows that we would watch. Both the television and the soundbar use AI to bring out the dialog, and it is a noticeable difference from past televisions and technology. We no longer have to turn on the closed caption, because we can hear the dialog very well.

Excellent Dolby Atmos for a soundbar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sound bar although it's quite big present impressive surround sound effect on normal audio input and very impressive Dobby Atmos effect on Dolby audio input.
Although the subwoofer is slightly less heavy on the bass, it packs quite a bunch at a decent volume.
The rest speakers are excellent in producing upward firing sound, playing PlayStation has never been this exciting, especially multiplayer games that need sound accuracy.
