Keeps the Crown for Best Atmos Soundbar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Q990D is still the best soundboard solution out there, not only does it provide you with the best possible immersive experience with Atmos/DTS:X capabilities, but it looks great doing so. The design is unchanged from previous generation, but that's not a bad thing at all, it's a great looking soundboard and ascetically pleasing. Blends in very well with most if not all decors. It slots in under our 85 QLED utilizing the Q-Symphony mode. It engulfs the room with sound from all directions. Top middle sides and rear, it really draws you into the experience of being there when watching any content. Especially more so when Atmos enabled soundtrack is played back during a movie. There is not bad seat in the house, you can almost see the sounds you hear, which is a strange thing to explain, its just so good that you are lost in the movie. The rear speakers are loud, and really add that extra layer od depth. If paired with a Samsung TV you can also connect the soundbar wire free, no need for HDMI connection, you can utilize the WiFi connection to pair the TV very easily. I opted to use the e-Arc port but both sounded about the same, I was not able to tell the difference. One of the best features is the SmartThings integration, which allows full control and adjustments to the speakers and EQs. Also enable Smart Voice assurance and SmartThings hub. The sound modes pair very nicely with the set, the AVA really does make a difference with voices and dialog enhancement, you never miss a dialog. SpaceFit Pro really just dials in everything for you and ensures that you get the best sound possible. Overall you cannot go wrong with the Samsung Q990D as the king of Atmos Soundbars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don't over think it. These are some of the best sounding speakers on the market and they connect to all modern wireless standards. Great bass, great treble... but oh, that mid-range is just amazing. Worth every penny and more.

Incredible sound

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is not my first soundbar, although my first in this price range. My previous soundbar, while sufficient for my old setup, just couldn't quite cut it with the size of my new great room ( > 400 sqft, with tall ceilings).
Setup was simple. Other than HDMI (or other connector) to the central speaker, all other components connect wirelessly and just needed power. I would recommend if you have the rear speakers on stands, that you get stands with both support in the rear and underneath.
Right away I could tell the difference in sound quality. While my old system had speakers which could be adjusted to provide a somewhat balanced sound, this provided a substantially fuller sound right out of the box.
I will say that the subwoofer is fairly large, and I was worried once I realized I hadn't planned a place to put it in advance. Ultimately I found a place in my setup that I'm happy with.
I'll also say while my television is not a Samsung TV, I had no trouble controlling the setup over CEC using either the television remote or an external streaming box. I really appreciated that this worked, since my previous two setups have had issues once I went cross-vendor.
I'm very happy with these speakers. I had somewhat given up on the idea of having a truly robust sound setup for this room, but this gives me everything I could want.

Superb Sound

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been used to using a 5.1 home theatre systems for upwards of 10 years. I have tired a handful of sound bar devices which were either HDMI and/or Optical cable. In each I noticed a lag, and more importantly they tried to synthesize sound, but it almost always felt like a 2.1 home theatre system at best and a surround sound system at worst.
Once I saw the Samsung HW-Q990D 11.1.4ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos/DTS:X I thought to give it a try, only because of the 2 additional rear speakers, and the way other speakers were designed to be able to send sounds in different directions, like left and right and also top. This could allow for me to be able to actually listen to the Atmos quality sound, something that was missing with the 5.1 home theatre system and also with the several sound bars that I have tried and failed. The rear speakers seem to be very good too, as it seems to have sound generation in 3 different axis ( yes all 3 axis, as opposed to different angles) , that make this a perfect fit for a home theatre.
The device comes equipped with everything needed, including 3 HDMI connectors, one of which is HDMI E-ARC, a TOSLInk/ Optical connection. While I believe it can be mounted, I chose to not mound the main device. The rear speaker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the past generations of Q series soundbars, Samsung has listened to consumers and upgraded its units to come closer to a perfect soundbar. From the first generation, it was a complete package for any challenge, whether it was music streaming, watching a Dolby Atmos movie, or streaming a console game; they’ve got you covered with the best experience. Samsung was the first soundbar company to have separate Atmos-enabled surround speakers with the HW series. The connectivity issue was resolved three generations ago, and with the 990D, you have a unit capable of tailoring the sound based on your room’s settings. With 11.1.4 channels, you can count on the quality of Atmos and DTS:X tracks to be near perfect. With the D, your pass-through is upgraded to 4K 120Hz, which is great for those who have consoles and compatible TVs. The sound quality is at a stage where it is hard to expect any upgrades. The only thing they could upgrade next is to have the ability to add a second subwoofer, although the bass of this device is more than enough. At this price point, there is no competition considering the quality and features of this soundbar, so I would recommend it to anyone who loves to have a whole theater in their home hall.
