In January, we replaced a cooktop with very old technology, so we are still adjusting our techniques, but we are very happy with the results. Having a variety of size choices on the burners is a real plus. Two people shouldn't need five burners that include eight options, but we use them all. The dual elements heat very quickly, and all elements heat evenly and consistently (no variation in time it takes to heat the same pot and amount of water from one time to the next). The downdraft works very efficiently; low setting has been sufficient for everything we have cooked to date. We find it easy to use and clean. Most spills and spatters wipe up with dish soap and water, and the special cooktop cleaner takes care of the rest. It still looks brand-new. Our only suggestion for improvement is that KitchenAid design a magnetic device to cover the downdraft when not in use to block outside air and protect the grid from spatters and spills.

The downdraft is a great feature. I would have liked to have had 5 cooking burners instead of having a warmer. The sizes of the burners are very convenient. Although I had to get used to cooking on this cooktop because it takes a little longer to cook things, it is a good product.

Cons: would rather have 5 burners instead of a warmer, not as easy to clean as i thought it would be

I never expected to pay so much for a cooktop. I learned that downdraft units are more expensive than normal unit. But that is what we needed. This unit is fantastic, quick to heat, easy to use, and it looks great in my kitchen.
