3D adds so much to this film. It still looks good in 2D however, as a 3D fan, this was great. I had my 13 year old daughter watch it with me and even this grumpy teen liked it. I mean an "It's OK" review is a rave from a teen, right?

I tried this in all the recommended configuration on two different HD TVs with the same results. Some channels came in some did not, but only a few channels duplicated on both TVs. Going to go for an external antenna next.

I was disappointed that one of my favorite pictures from the original was not included in this Blu-ray. There was a bear skull sitting on a ledge in the cave and a stalactite had formed over the side of it. The years that it must have taken for that to happen always impressed me. Still. The 3D was great and nothing was lost from the absence of this one picture.

I was a bit concerned in that I never knew if the original Arnold movie was shot in 3D. If not this was the first conversion to 3D I have seen. Still holds up after all this time. The 3D is good. The price was right.

Very disappointed. I mean the acting was OK and the Cinemaphotography was above par, but all of that really needed a plot to hang on which was not there. I bought it because I had a new HD TV, the actor and this blu ray was cheap.

To see "Faeiramir" from Lord of Rings again was excellent. The CGI was excellent. Fearless disregard of physics in most all action sequences - ships on the water, great blood splattering, good storyboarding to picture helped keep the plot in line.

Holds up after all these years

Along with Streets of Fire this movie is favorite guilty pleasure of mine. Since Midnight movies generally show what is on the current bill only at midnight. I do miss the cat calls and audience comments. Still. A good run through the streets, parks and subways of NYC.

What's great about it: Besides the movie itself, the interviews with the cast's rememberences enhanced the entaire DVD.
What's not so great: Only the dicrector's cut. It would have been nice to have the original theatricla release as a comparison.

This may sound dumb, but can I transfer from a VHS playing in this unit to a DVD recording in this unit?
I see nothing in the instruction manual that tells me how to play a VHS tape and record it on to a DVD with this unit alone.
Yes. So long as it is not Copyright protected. Home movies - yes. Comercial VHS tapes - no.

My cable box (Digital Transport Adapter, Comcast) only has coax in/out not RCA, how would I hook this up to it?
I'm not sure that you can with that wiring. Perhps going through the TV or another device and then routing it to the DVD-VCR recorder.

Can I record from my tv directly on a dvd? If so how would I do it.
Well. Not sure, but I think that one sound and video data leads coming off either the TV out (if there is one) to the device might do it.

Can this system replace my DVR???
Perhaps. I think it would depend upon the vido source. I think that data is written to the HD of the device before it is sritten to the DVD.
