This release contains the complete eight-part mini-series The Slap, about a happy family that begins to fall apart after their son is slapped by a coworker, who is then charged with assault.
One look at this DVD, and viewers won't believe it's all animation. One of the most detailed DVDs out today, this is bound to go down as a classic both in animation and children's features. Dinosaur, released by Walt Disney Pictures, is the charming story of a dinosaur mistakenly raised by lemurs. The special effects of the meteor hitting the earth are so realistic, you'll find it hard to believe that this is an animated movie. Because the movie was released digitally, the DVD is created straight from the digital source, and it shows in the sound and quality. The sound is Dolby 5.1 (other options are THX-certified and DTS 5.1) with French and English tracks. It's available for viewing in both standard and 1:85:1 widescreen versions. Along with the awesome visuals and sound, there are plenty of features to occupy viewers long after the movie is over. Highlights include background on how the special effects were created, a documentary on the sound design, a feature on "building a better dinosaur," and several games, including "Dinosearch" and "Aladar's Adventure." Also included are web links and a dinosaur encyclopedia. Disney went all out with this DVD, and it shows.
Package Description: So you think you know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Don't be too sure... One of your favorite fairy tales is turned upside-down and inside-out in what the LA Times called "high-energy, imaginative entertainment." With irreverent storytelling, spunk and wit, Hoodwinked delivers a comedy caper for the young, the young at heart and everyone in between. When the police arrive at Granny's cottage in the woods to answer a domestic disturbance call, it looks like just another open-and-shut case. But Red, Granny, the Big Bad Wolf and the Woodsman are not your usual suspects, as they have their own dark secrets, wily deceptions and conflicting accounts of the crime. Together, they must put aside their differences and find their own original twist on Happily Ever After in their "raucous, genre-busting, animated gem (Entertainment Weekly, The Must List)."
Weirdness abounds in the horror thriller Donnie Darko. Fox has done a great job on this 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. This is a very clear image that sports dark black levels and evenly saturated colors. Only a small amount of edge enhancement is spotted in a few scenes, though it won't interfere with the viewing. The audio is presented in DTS Surround in English, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English, and French. Both the DTS and Dolby 5.1 soundtracks are very full and bombastic. Both soundtracks utilize rear and front speakers to maximum effect. Also included on this disc are subtitles in English. Donnie Darko includes a wide array of extra features, starting with two commentary tracks, the first by director Richard Kelly and actor Jake Gyllenhaal, and the second with multiple cast and crew members. Both of these tracks are very informative and interesting. "The Philosophy of Time Travel" is page-by-page look at the book prominently displayed in the film. The "Art Gallery" features production photos from the film, as well as conceptual art and promotional materials used for the marketing campaign. "Cunning Visions" is a collection of infomercials from the movie by Patrick Swayze's film character. An optional infomercial is available with commentary by Fabian Van Patton and Linda Connie. Twenty deleted scenes feature optional commentary with the director. Some of these are interesting, while others had validity for being cut. Rounding off the extra features are some TV spots and theatrical trailers, a music video for the song by Gary Jules, and some information on the cast and crew.
This title offers up every episode from the second season of Lisa Kidrow's show Web Therapy, where she plays a self-involved therapist who works with her clients online and struggles with her own personal issues. Guest stars include Conan O'Brien, Lily Tomlin, and Meryl Streep.
Great show, with great guest actors, very funny. The episodes are less than 30 minutes, which is the only bummer. The price was also on point not too expensive.I would recommend to anyone who likes funny, quirky shows that are not too serious. I ordered this DVD online at bestbuy.com and got free shipping, it arrived within one week so no complaints there. The DVD extras also were pretty funny and included deleted scens, and interviews with some of the cast members, Overall I would recommend this show to anyone who like to laugh and does not take life too seriously.
