Greetings! So I already have a set of Accoustimass 10 speakers in my home and decided to upgrade my Home Theater system from 5.1 to 7.2. surround sound. I needed one extra set of speakers and wanted the excellent sound of BOSE! These speakers are stand alone and hook directly into the receiver and NOT to an accoustimass or sound processor. I used them as my rear set of speakers (separate) from my Accoustimass 10's. WOW the sound is fantastic. And because they are a little bit bigger they really kick the deeper sounds needed for the rear sound. They are clear and very clean sounding as you would expect from Bose. The price I thought was a little cheap for what your getting. Very nice and attractive set of speakers for the money!

4K does it all!

IF your into movies and want the latest technology then you need to purchase this player. Yes it is expensive. Yes there is an expected release of these players in the fall for Christmas that should drive the prices down. BUT, this is a Samsung, and it does everything you will need it to do. I don't think the price will move too much with this player in the fall. I was driven to buy this one by one simple fact. Why spend hard earned money on a player that works great but only plays Blue Ray and not 3D. Or a player that only plays Blue Ray. Take your money and spend a little bit more and poor it into a player that does it all. You will be happier and in the long run and get more bang for your buck. I had no problem connecting to my Onkyo Reciever and Samsung SUHD TV. Check it out and see what you like.

This Onkyo system continues to amaze me with its ability to bring beautiful sound just the way I like it. Im still finding things out about this receiver that I was unaware of before. The price point is pretty significant compared to it s big brother just above it. I did shop and compare through CNET and others and this reciever got excellent reviews. It has it all.

do you need special speaker connectors on back of 161's?

No you do not. These speakers are very easy to connect to the back and to a receiver or sound system. I suggest you go to the Bose Web sight to see a complete set of pictures that show the connections to the speakers. Its a very nice set of speakers for sure. Especially for the money. I use them for the rears on my 7.2 Surround sound home theater system. I hope that helps.

Can these speakers be plugged into an old Panasonic stereo?

My older parents (70+) have an old portable Panasonic portable stereo that they still use to play cassettes. It is the style where the speakers on either side are wired into the back of the radio (with a little clip that you put the wire into). The speakers are junk and they want good Bose speakers to play with this radio/casette player. Would these be compatible? Wireless is not an option for these peeps. Nor is asking them to convert the cassettes to the 21st century technology : )
YES! These speakers are direct connect or to be plugged into receptacles in a receiver or stereo. They do need to be driven with some power from the receiver though. But to answer your question, YES! And they sound incredible. Especially for the money!

With Samsung TV 60UH8500, which input would you attach it with? The information I found is input 3 is HDCP 2.2-certified- MHL-compatible; 4:2:0 chroma; the others are HDCP 1.4 and 4:4:4 chroma.

Greetings! I think it all depends on WHAT your connecting it too. A receiver or Blue Ray? IF you are attaching or connecting it to a receiver then you want to use ARC if it is on your receiver or TV. IF you are going out of your receiver then you will have a MAIN OUT on the receiver that goes to the TV IN or ARC. You want to look for that on the TV. Usually number 1 on the TV. It can be confusing when looking at all the stuff you see in the book at the back of the players. Components or things like DVD/Blue Ray players hook up to the coorisponding input on the back of the receiver or TV. Usually 2, 3 or 4. Depending on how many HDMI connections you have. I hope this helps..

Echo from surround sound

I have a Toshiba 57" rear projection tv, an Onkyo 5.1 receiver. When I use surround sound, there is an echo and the sound is not in sync with the tv. Don't want to start buying new stuff because I don't know the cause of the problem... And I still have a turntable, cassette, and CD player/recorder. Oh yeah, my main speakers are Bose 401's running 4 ohms, center and rears are Bose with 8 ohms.
Hey Rick! If you are running your TV sound at the same time as the speakers on your surround sound you WILL have a delay or echo sound. Im not assuming that you are, but you'd be amazed at how many people do run their sound through the tv while pushing 5.1 surround. You can also get a echo if you have the same channel running on a tv in another room. They don't sink up in the sound department. A delay usually happens and personally drives me crazy. If your having a problem with the sound delaying from your system and not matching up to the TV video, like a person talking then you can tweek the lip sync application on your receiver or TV. So in conclusion, if your running sound through your tv while running your surround sound, YOU WILL GET AN ECHO! I hope that helped.

SAMSUNG LED/LCD 65 '' TV

Is it better to purchase a Samsung Blue Ray and a Samsung A/V Receiver in order
to stay with the same manufactuer. Is there a benefit to this instead of mixing and matching
TV, Blue Ray and A/V Receiver
Greetings! Thats a great question! Certainly using same as components works pretty good and matches nicely. But with my recent purchase of a Samsung 65" SUHD TV, Onkyo Home Theater receiver and the Samsung 4K Blue ray player, they all matched up nicely. VERY NICELY! The components out now work pretty well together and match up with the technology out. I did have to read a little bit and go online to tweek the system the way I wanted. For example I set up my TV as a monitor and not stand alone tv. The Onkyo receiver more then pushes the signal through in the highest grade picture possible.. That does not mean I didn't tweek the TV though. So all in all its really up to personal choice when buying same like products and matching. I would go onto CNET and do comparisons. Then narrow down a couple of possibilities and then compare them for what you need. Worked well for me. Mixing and matching was no problem...
