Heartbreaking film!

Room is a drama thriller, but not in the traditional sense of the word. It deals with a dark subject matter and the first half of the film can be quite disturbing. Yet director Lenny Abrahamson has adapted the best-selling novel with grace and grandeur. Here is a film so artistically unique and deviant, full of genuine emotion thanks to two outstanding performances, that isn't afraid to take risks and surprise at every turn. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay both give spectacular performances that we'll definitely see more of them in the future! The best actors are the ones able to transport you into their characters' own universes, no matter how isolated from society they happen to be. Larson and Tremblay both have a tremendous range of emotional ability and are able to sell you on their story not just for two hours, but for an entire lifetime. With Room, Lenny Abrahamson goes the extra mile with his direction. The film asks us to examine how we view the world and how this viewpoint is shaped by our nurtured upbringing. The result is a breathtaking experience brought to life, one you won't soon forget. Overall, my final verdict 5/5 Stars!

Beautiful movie!

To put it simply, Brooklyn is a beautiful period drama and rich piece of romantic storytelling that boasts great performances by Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, and Domhnall Gleeson. The film has already generated a good deal of awards season buzz and deservedly so, as it brings its story of a simple young immigrant to life in a stirring and sensitive fashion – without ever being pretentious or insincere, in the process. Those who are willing to give this unabashedly old-fashioned drama a chance and see it in theaters should find themselves well-rewarded for their efforts. Plus, Saoirse Ronan said during an interview that she had to learn a specific Irish accent from nearly twenty minutes away from her hometown in Ireland. That shows to me that she's fully devoted to her character in the film and it shows greatly through her stellar performance. Overall, my final verdict 4.8/5 Stars!

THE REVENANT MOVIE REVIEW:
Apologies for this late post, I just got back from seeing this film for the second time. I wanted to collectively gather my thoughts. Plus, seeing this again I caught a few things I missed from my first viewing. So here we go!
Cast: Six-time Academy Award nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, Academy Award nominee Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter.
Plot: During 1823, Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is a frontiersman out an adventure with his team in their fight for survival in the bitter landscape. When the unthinkable happens Glass' life is in the balance.
Directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu (Birdman, 2014) over the period of five years in harsh conditions, this film literally changes the history of filming. Let me go through some points on why I think this is the film of the year:
Performances: The performances throughout are all Oscar-worthy. Leonardo DiCaprio fully immersed himself into this character and I did not see him at all. All I saw was the character telling his story. Tom Hardy's performance was fantastic! Both Leo and Tom are incredibly smart actors by choosing these great roles because they fully trust the director on telling a compelling story. Tom Hardy dominated this film and arguably stole the film by his phenomenal portrayal of his character. At first, his accent threw me off a bit but then it gradually grew on me and I loved it! Tom proves yet again that he's willing to experiment with his performances as of late. At one point in the film, Leo's survival is clearly shown when he eats the liver from a bison. During an interview, Leo said that he actually ate a real-life liver and his reaction is shown on screen. This clearly shows to me that Leo truly cares about the authentic performance he gives and his love for films to tell this incredible story. The performances are exceptional throughout and they didn't come out of character one single bit.
Story: The story of the film keeps intact throughout regarding the length of the film. The director knew what story he wanted to do and he stayed with it.
Lighting: There was no studio used to make this picture it was entirely around nature. The use of natural light in this film is the real clincher. The director didn't use any artificial light to take away the landscape.
Atmospheric landscapes: This film is set in the North American wilderness and was filmed in Calgary, Alberta. The acting isn't the only thing that makes the film, it is the beautifully atmospheric polar landscapes, from the vast forests to the incredible mountain ranges this film literally has it all.
Overall, this is the film of the year and I completely recommend it without regret. The only flaw I have with the film is Leonardo's dream sequences. They appear quite often and at first it seems interesting. However, it starts to feel a bit pretentious because it shows up abruptly. My final verdict: 5/5 Stars!

Deadpool Movie Review:
I remember the negative, hateful reactions X-Men Origins: Wolverine got for what it did to the awesome character of Deadpool, who is very loved by the fans. At the time I basically knew nothing about the character, so I decided to look into him. What I found was one of the coolest, funniest and most entertaining characters I had ever seen. After so many years, I am happy to say, we finally got the Deadpool movie we deserved.
First of all, Ryan Reynolds is perfect for playing the role of Deadpool and he owns every second he's on screen. The thing I like about it is you can actually tell he loves the character and most importantly he UNDERSTANDS the character he is playing. Watching him in interviews just lets you know how much he enjoyed playing the Merc with a Mouth.
This is an R-Rated comic book film and it doesn't hold anything back, literally. It is violent, funny, meta. Basically everything I love in a movie. And I mean it probably doesn't get any more meta than this and that's why Deadpool works perfectly because it knows exactly what it is and what it needs to be and it expresses that.
The movie is told in a nonlinear way, which absolutely works to its advantage because the plot is very simple, especially as a comic book film, so the nonlinear way of telling makes it feel original. The thing I knew some people were worried about was if the love story was gonna work or not. The answer to that is yes, because everything that happens between Deadpool and his girl feels real, especially knowing her background and who she is and especially because it actually advances the plot of the movie, building our main character.
Sure, like most movies, Deadpool has flaws, but they are minimal, and I mean minimal. It did NOT take me out of the experience for the most part. The only two things that kinda bothered me were that they never really explain exactly what his powers are (and considering he jumps abnormally high and does super unhuman backflips, I think it should have been explained more), although it is implied and it doesn't make any sense at all that the eyes of the costume show emotions and that he himself made a suit that is absolutely perfectly made and tactical, but it's so awesome. And who the heck cares anyway? The movie surely doesn't. have to emphasize I am looking at this through a microscope, because I loved every minute of Deadpool.
Deadpool blew me away with its humor, violence and especially the meta. The scenes I loved the most were when they referenced something real or when it made fun of itself. There are some clichés in the movie, like the evil British bad guy and the comic relief character, but the movie makes fun of those clichés. I had a blast with Deadpool, from the opening credits to the post-credits scene, I had a big smile on my face 98% of the time. It's a movie that understands exactly what it is and it executes the things it has to do perfectly. Deadpool is not only one of the greatest comic book movies ever made, it is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.
VERDICT 4.8/5 Stars!
