I don't believe so, it's just a self-powered monitor, you may want to look further into your specific uses for it but I tried a 22" to save space on my desktop but ended up with this 28" with an adjustable stand and the stand made all the difference for my workspace. I did not notice any difference between monitor performance from 22" to 28" but the 22" I had was 1080p and all I saw were pixels, so I upgraded to the 4k UHD and it works perfect. I did not notice any problem at all as far as performance goes. I just plugged each one into my macbook pro via a HDMI cable and didn't have any issues even with video, it's wonderful. It was just plug and play.
