I have dedicated a lot of resources this year to putting together "my smart home." The Phillips hue light set is an important player in an this set up. Every night I find myself telling my google home to adjust to a different scene I have programmed into it.
Friends and family love coming over and experienceing what I have put together. That being said I do find the Phillips Hue lacking in a few areas
Brightness is my largest complaint. Sure if I have two of them on one lamp it works out great. But that can be pricey for some people. And when the competitor Lifx has a much brighter bulb that doesn't need a bridge then the question has to be asked as to why Hue is the most recommended.
The default app is also severely lacking for the capability this product has. In short the one star rating on the App Store is well deserved. (I only gave it two stars because I do love these things.)
---Pros --Very easy set up Allows you to be creative with how you can connect them to more Internet of things than the competition
----cons -Brightness really seems to fall short for a $50 bulb -seperate 3rd generation bulbs are slowly rolling out -the manufacturers Mobile app sucks

I was the proud owner of an Amazon Echo for over a year. When this product was announced I knew that I wanted to compare it the echo. For several reasons I have determined that the Google home is a superior product.
Pros: -More partners at launch indicating it maybe more robust than echo over time -access to google's infinite pool of knowledge -string commands -easier to look at -speakers have more clarity -chromecast support is a magical experience for friends and family who have witnessed the power of the home.
Cons -has a harder time hearing you across the room if other people in the room are talking. -The AI works so well that you begin to believe that it can do more so you tell it complicated commands and it falls short
---- Better price, better sound, fast response. Buy the google home over the amazing echo. I have already listed my echo on eBay and plan to purchase I second home once it sells. I have decided to keep my echo dot for now. Hopefully google will release a similar product to replace the dot in the near future.
