Premium HDMI Cable Delivers Stunning 4K UHD, HDR!

I use premium HDMI cables to bring out Deep Color / HDR /4K in the latest LG OLED 4K UHD TV. This is my first opportunity to purchase a Rocketfish cable from Best Buy instead of the much more expensive and highly advertised premium cable brand. The 2 photos show Rocketfish HDMI plugged into my 65" LG OLED, next to more expensive, competitive premium cables.
The picture quality through the Rocketfish HDMI is stunning using 4K UHD Blu-ray & Amazon 4K Fire TV playing 4K source material. I could not see any difference between the Rocketfish and the most highly advertised brands shown in my photo that cost several times more.
Examinations of the cable's physical attributes show very expensive materials, with no shortcuts. The cable is very thick (approximately 3/8" diameter) because of the extra shielding in the cable. The plugs are made of cast aluminum, an incredibly strong, lightweight material with the highest shielding properties - the thickness & the plugs are exactly the same as the most expensive "premium brand" cables.
Beware of THIN HDMI cables. They lack the extra layer of shielding that is essential to reduce RFI interference, which can show up as color imbalance between Red, Blue & Green. Thin HDMI cables cost less, and are less expensive to manufacture. Avoid plastic plugs, because they lack the interference shielding of metal. On the "high end" extreme, Cast aluminum plugs add physical strength to great shielding (they won't break if hit).
This cable made a believer out of me. Rocketfish offers the absolute BEST in quality 4K UHD Deep Color HDR signal transmission with the highest shielding from signal interference at the best value. Rocketfish earns my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

The Fire Stick is a very inexpensive device that is WiFi only & has 1/2 the Flash & Memory as this Fire TV. It has no provision to add additional memory.
The Fire TV connects with Ethernet cable or WiFi. Ethernet provides a much faster & stronger signal, so your movies don't freeze up. With 2X the Flash & Memory of Fire Stick + an external memory slot, the Fire TV makes skipping & frozen movies a thing of the past.
CONCLUSION:
I recommend a Fire TV for every HDTV you own! It is truly an amazing device & converts your existing TV, whether a Smart TV or not, to a VERY Smart TV!

The HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer is the new Top-Of-The Line home office / small office printing / scanning / faxing solution provider. I have owned numerous HP printers, as well as several All-in-One machines from various manufacturers. I find HP offers the lowest cost ink (HP quotes less than 5 cents / printed page) & the most reliable hardware.
LIKES:
1- Perfect Size & Weight: At approximately 18" X 16" X 8", it does not have a huge footprint for a home office, and is heavy enough (about 17#) not to move around or tilt when you raise the flatbed scanner.
2- HP proven reliability (HP printers are consistently at the top or near the top in reliability surveys).
3- USB jack on the front panel is super convenient for loading documents or photos to print, without having to reach around the back of the machine.
4- Amazing quality black & white printing; very good quality color photos.
5- Wireless Printing: 2.4 Ghz WiFi connects effortlessly to both Mac (I use Mac Sierra 10.12.6 OS) & Windows. I did not encounter any connection issues printing from several devices located on 3 separate floors by WiFi.
6- Beautiful Color Touchscreen on the front panel makes selecting & adjusting photos foolproof before printing.
7- SD Card Slot accepts the media from your digital camera & makes printing photos directly from camera a breeze.

I bought 2 of these Rocketfish 8 Outlet Surge Protector Strips from Best Buy. I plan to buy several more to replace some older units. I love how any size plug-in transformers will fit in 6 outlets, without rearranging each one. The outlet layout is the best I have ever seen.
LIKES:
1- 6 Outlets with plenty of space between for the largest plug-in transformers plus 2 more outlets close by. This is the only strip I own that will accommodate 6 large transformers side by side with room to spare.
2- Rugged construction.
3- 6 foot extremely soft & flexible heavy duty cord.
4- 2) 5 Volt USB jacks. The power supply is built-in with power to charge 1) iPad or other tablet or 2) phones.

Top of Class Surround Sound with Looks That Kill

Last week I set up our LG 65" 65J8500 LED TV with built-in Harmon Kardon sound. While the internal speaker system is the best I have ever heard built-in a TV, I wanted more punch & bass for action movies & concerts. I selected the LG SJ8 Soundbar because it is so low profile, it literally fits under the TV, on top of the silver LG TV feet & looks as though it is part of the TV. See photos showing the Soundbar sitting below the LG TV.
LIKES:
1- Ultra low profile design fits below a LG 65" or similar TV, providing an integrated look
2- Digital display on the front makes set-up, input changes & sound adjustments a breeze
3- Surround Sound options are extremely effective. The surround sound effect available for 2-channel programming is top of the class! I was completely stunned when I selected surround sound on this Soundbar & chose Cable News, expecting standard 2-channel playback. LG has designed phase conversion to spread the soundstage, yet maintain pristine quality & crystal clear vocals. I turned around to see where the sound originated tonight - and it all originated from this Soundbar!
4- Rounded, high gloss black edges with a curved grill on the subwoofer convert a normally boring rectangular box to an attractive essential ingredient.
5- The striking Soundbar front grill sets it apart from mundane speakers & makes it clear this is a premium quality speaker system.

1- I would prefer stronger bass at lower frequencies from the subwoofer. Unfortunately that would require a physically larger subwoofer enclosure, possibly more power to drive it & would likely double the cost of this Soundbar.
CONCLUSION:
The LG SJ8 is a premium quality Soundbar with a striking design that compliments the attractive LG TV's. It will work with all makes & model TV's that have either HDMI or optical out. It measures 48" wide, so it looks great with a 55", a 65" or a 77" diagonal TV. The surround sound is amazing & even has a built-in display to show sound options! If you want a "wall shaking" bass-heavy Soundbar, look elsewhere. The bass output of the SJ8 is head and shoulders above the speakers built in any TV, and offers balanced frequencies across the sound spectrum - but do not expect your walls to shake. I am proud to own one that is paired to my LG 65J8500 65" LED TV & highly recommend it.

Favorite Mouse for Mac OS

Finding a great mouse for gaming on MacOS can be a challenge. The Logitech G703 with LIGHTSPEED is the fastest & the most accurate mouse I have ever experienced. Charge it, add the 10G weight if you choose, plug in the LIGHTSPEED receiver, snap the switch ON & you are connected! No drop outs, no loss of signal, no lag - EVER!!
The confidence the G703 inspires by it's complete lack of any lag & it's high speed with total control led me to try it for all applications, not just gaming. My "daily driver" mouse is the Logitech MX Master 2S. I love the thumb rest on that mouse, and the little button behind the mouse wheel that removes the drag click and provides a weighted flywheel for high speed spinning. The high speed spinning is the only feature I miss on the G703. The photos show the G703 Gaming Mouse, the MX Master 2S & the Apple Magic Mouse 2 for size comparison.
Even without loading the recommended Logitech software, you can control the DPI instantly on the G703 by the small button just behind the mouse wheel. It is amazing that this DPI change works out of the box perfectly with no software added on MacOS.
The LED lighting on the body & the wheel is very cool. I love the feel of the rubber grips on the right and left sides of this mouse. The lightweight body feels feather weight, compared with the outstanding MX Master 2S.
Snap the on / off switch & the mouse starts instantly, no connection delay or start-up lag.
I plan to buy the Powerplay wireless charging system for this mouse, as soon as it is released (it can be preordered today). Never having to stop & charge the mouse plus the ability to change the mousepad surface from hard to soft is the "icing on the cake!".
CONCLUSION:
Logitech quotes 50 million click durability. This is a precision quality instrument & it feels like it. No lag, super fast, consistent, feather weight - you feel as one with this mouse. The Logitech G703 LIGHTSPEED Gaming Mouse earns my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

My wife & I love fried foods, but we quit preparing & eating them years ago to avoid obesity & to lower blood pressure. We switched to baking foods that we used to fry. The flavor took getting used to, but it never satisfied like fried food. While our bodies are better off after our change in diet, we miss the golden brown, fried crunch.
This Philips Hot Air Fryer delivers the most juicy, perfectly fried taste, texture & appeal of yesterday, with barely any oil required - 80% less oil required than in a deep fryer! This also lowers your cost & disposal requirement of a quart or 2 of used cooking oil.
At the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo, researchers from Miami University showed results of a study comparing conventional deep fried French fries to hot air fried and oven baked. Both the oven baked and hot air fried potatoes used much less oil than the deep fried ones. Here is the shock: the hot air fries contained only half as much oil as the oven baked fries! They contained only 1 tablespoon per batch.

These TONE Studios are curious boomerang looking devices that cling to your neck. The TONE Studio HBS-W120 is the current Top-Of-The-Line personal speaker. The sleek aluminum design is a work of art. The DTS logo leave no doubt: Only Clear Audio is spoken here!

1- The ability to listen to personal sound without inserting anything in, on, or around your ears.

I purchased the SmartThings Hub in order to integrate control of all devices through one app & hopefully eliminate several hubs. Unfortunately, many of my devices are not recognized by the SmartThings Hub: BAS Haiku Connected Fans & Lights, Baldwin exterior locks, vintage Z-Wave switches, iDevices, just to name a few.
This Hub works well & performs as claimed. You should simply be aware that there are many devices which it cannot recognize or control. It is well built & is an attractive hub. I added it to my "Hub Collection", as shown in photo & recommend it for your hub collection.

The "NC" in the model # of Everest Elite 750NC should stand for "NO COMPARISON"! They are truly in a class by themselves.

If this device has no battery backup, why are batteries included in the shipping? I don't want to be awakened disputing the night because the battery needs changing. I have a 24 foot ceiling and can't climb up every three to six months to change them.
Both the electric plug-in and the battery model have Lithium Battery back-up. These batteries typically last 5 years. This is completely unlike the Smoke Alarms from years past, which often lasted only 3 to 6 months, as you pointed out.

What happens if internet connection is lost or wifi signal lost? Will you know if house is on fire if you are away? I specification 3G connectivity is mentioned, do I have to pay subscription?
There is no subscription - it uses your Wi-Fi. If you lose internet connection or lose Wi-Fi, you maintain full protection in your home, but will not know if your house is on fire if you are away.

They are a new product, just released in limited quantities. You can order them now from Best Buy online. Expect them in the stores in early 2018.
