No Fuss Wi-Fi & Smart Home Integration

Samsung Connect Home Pro breaks new ground by combining a Router with a Smart Home Hub.
Likes:
1- This router basically sets itself up. There are virtually no choices. Ideal for a simple home setup where keeping it simple is the main priority
2- Modern, Clean Lines. Best looking router on the market, in my opinion. MIMO smart antenna (10 internal antennas total!) for high speed wireless AC is internal
3- Simple to use Software for iOS or Android
4- Works nicely with Amazon Echo / Dot
5- Compatible with ZigBee & Z-Wave certified devices
6- The Pro supports the highest Wi-Fi spec (4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac) and consequently yields much faster Wi-Fi speeds
7- Smart Home Hub is built in
8- Up to 1,500 square feet of coverage. Integrate up to 5) Connect Home Pro units as a mesh network for larger areas
9- Specs: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wave 2; AC2600 (1,733 Mbps on 5GHz and 800 Mbps on 2.4GHz); 1.7GHz dual core; 512MB of RAM, 4GB of flash; supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, ZigBee and Z-Wave
10- One app controls the router & the hub - Simple!
DISLIKES:
1- Basically this router offers virtually NO Options. I have 95 wireless connected devices & many Ethernet connected devices within a 5,000 square foot house over 3) levels. There are routers better suited for such complex applications. I connected it in Bridge mode & added it to 3) existing MIMO routers to retain application flexibility & to expand a "mesh" network. See photos of the Connect Home Pro in our Sewing Room.
2- No support for IPv6. I hope Samsung can add this support by a software upgrade in the future. This is the only router I have tested that was introduced in 2017 that lacks IPv6 support
3- The high speeds drop off more quickly within 25 feet of the router than larger routers I own with exposed antennas. I saw speeds of 220 Mbps at the router, but they dropped to 115 Mbps 25 feet away. I suspect the penalty for the small, sleek appearance is shorter range for high performance signals
4- 2.4GHz & 5 GHz networks cannot be separated - they automatically use the best network per device. You cannot name the networks separately
5- Smart devices that are not compatible with Samsung SmartThings are not recognized on Samsung Connect Pro. Unfortunately, that is a high percentage of my devices. BAS connected Haiku Fans & lights are not recognized, for example
6- Only one "In" and one "Out" Gigabit Ethernet connection. Most routers in this price point offer 3-5 outputs. Plan to purchase a Gigabit Ethernet Switch to provide additional outputs
7- The Samsung Connect App is buggy & required several iPhone 6S Plus & iPad Pro restarts to complete set-up
8- Port Forwarding does not work across multiple ports. This is a deal breaker for me, as I run 10) wireless cameras in my home & need port forwarding across a series of ports
9- Connect Home Pro units are only sold individually, so expanding your network using these will get expensive quickly. The Standard, lower price / lower performing Connect Home units are sold individually & in a 3-pack at discounted pricing
10- Underwhelming performance for the price in larger homes & complex Home Control applications
SUMMARY:
Samsung Connect Home Pro is a beautiful & innovative product that integrates basic home connectivity with limited smart device control. I applaud Samsung & recommend it for all who prioritize a simple, no fuss Wi-Fi & Smart Home set-up.

Scroll Your Own - Mega Mouse with the Most Options

The Logitech MX Master 2S is a premium quality wireless laser mouse with the versatility to satisfy the most demanding applications.
LIKES
1- Tracking is exceptional on any surface. I tried a Allsop mousepad (see photo), wood desk, glass, paper & leather. Same precise tracking on all surfaces.
2- This is a large, ergonomically designed mouse & it is very comfortable in my size XXL hand. The mouse is offered for right hand use only. Note the size in my photos compared with the Apple Magic Mouse 2.
3- The extreme flexibility of being able to configure the buttons for your specific needs is a great benefit.
4- The button on top, directly behind the wheel, changes the functionality of the wheel from individual clicks to continuous silent spin. This is very handy for scrolling through large documents quickly.
5- The charging port is on the front of the mouse, enabling operation during charging.
6- Master Power switch on the bottom enables all power off mode, which will greatly save battery life when you are not planning on using it for several days. It also keeps the mouse from waking the computer if your cat decides to bump the mouse in the middle of the night.
7- The gliding surfaces are extremely low friction, so smooth movement with precise control is a breeze.
8- Appearance: The fit and finish are first rate & make a statement: this is a top quality product! The color is ideal & blends with any computer.
9- Connection flexibility using either Logitech Unifying Receiver or Bluetooth adds further versatility.
10- Long Battery Life - Logitech claims 70 days on a full charge.
DISLIKES:
1- Wake-up lag for 1/2 second after mouse rests for 10 seconds or more. Once you move the mouse & experience this lag, there is no further delay until the mouse rests again, after which the lag occurs again. This is a major issue & is very frustrating. Mine is Bluetooth connected to the latest Mac Pro desktop operating MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 (latest OS).
2- Forward / Backward buttons above the thumb are small & I press backward when trying to press forward; however this is a very minor issue.
3- Computer selector 1 - 2 - 3 is located on the bottom of the mouse. Because my use of 2) computers requires very frequent switching, I find it easier to keep 2) mice on my desktop, rather than pick up one mouse & switch it from underneath each time I want to switch back and forth.
4- The Right / Left Click buttons are loud, compared with the other Logitech mice I own & the Apple Magic Mouse 2.
5- Battery is non replaceable. When it no longer holds a charge, recycle this mouse & buy a replacement (same with Apple Magic Mouse 2).
6- I prefer a charging cradle to sit this mouse on when not in use, as other Logitech mice & Harmony Remotes include, rather than keeping a charging wire on the desk just to charge it, as needed.
SUMMARY: I love the appearance, feel & flexibility of this super versatile mouse! I would rate it 5 stars, were it not for the wake up lag. I will continue to run additional tests & will connect via the Logitech Unifying Receiver. I will post any new developments.

Toss this waterproof LifeProof AQUAPHONICS speaker in the pool and watch it float. The crisp audio doesn't stop for snow, dirt or ice, and this Bluetooth-enabled speaker can withstand a drop from 1.2m. The battery of this LifeProof AQUAPHONICS speaker keeps going for 15 hours, and it charges your phone while it's playing.

This Bluetooth Speaker plays LOUD & is built to appeal to the rugged outdoor enthusiast. It excels at pool parties & boating activities, as it floats & is drop proof. The recyclable packaging is aqua, suggesting the speaker is at home near water. At $300, there are BT Speakers that offer slightly superior sound, but NONE that are ready to play outdoors like the AQ10.
TOP 10 LIKES:
1- Water Resistance (rated to be waterproof to 1m for 30 minutes),
2- Drop Resistance (Rated to survive drops from 1.2 meters)
3- Extended Battery Life (Rated 15-Hour). The 12 Volt 2.0 Amp charger is required to charge this beast of a battery. This battery / power source is the secret to achieving premium quality sound at high volume for 15 hours.
4- Buoyancy (It floats!)
5- Hidden Storage (Dry box built-in)
6- 2 Color Options: Obsidian Sand (as shown in my photos) or Laguna Clay
7- Very Good Musicality at HIGH Volume: music sounds GREAT cranked up! DISLIKE: (This turned out to be a LIKE!):
Use of a dedicated charger is unfortunate for convenience (because it is something else to take with you on vacation, for example), but is REQUIRED because it delivers 12 Volt at 2.0 Amp to charge the built-in hefty battery (12V X 2.0A = 24 Watt). A USB charging jack would have been more convenient, but USB delivers 5 Volt, so the same power (24 Watt) / 5 Volt would require 4.8 Amp output. That is IMPOSSIBLE because 4.8 Amp exceeds the power available via USB. A large tablet charges at 5 Volt / 2.0 Amp (10 watt), for example. To achieve the sound output & battery life described in Benefit #3 listed above, this dedicated charger is not only appropriate, but is ESSENTIAL.
LifeProof could have designed a BT Speaker with a smaller power amplifier & smaller battery that could be charged on a 5 Volt USB plug. But they chose to prioritize PERFORMANCE, thus requiring an external 24 Watt power supply. This design choice elevates the AQ11 to a High Performance Class by itself & the "dislike" for inconvenience is surpassed by "WOW!" sound quality, extended battery life & extreme design integrity. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!
LifeProof could have designed a BT Speaker with a smaller power amplifier & smaller battery that could be charged on a 5 Volt USB plug. But they chose to prioritize PERFORMANCE, thus requiring an external 24 Watt power supply. This design choice elevates the AQ11 to a High Performance Class by itself & the "dislike" for inconvenience is surpassed by "WOW!" sound quality, extended battery life & extreme design integrity. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!
COMPARISON TO AQ10 BLUETOOTH SPEAKER:
1- The AQ11 plays MUCH LOUDER! AQ11 is rated at 100dB; AQ10 is rated at 94dB. In real tests, the difference in playable volume is dramatic! The AQ11 projects further, has 2) larger drivers & more powerful amplifier. It sounds 50% louder than the impressive AQ10!
2- AQ11 Battery Life is rated at 15 Hrs; AQ10 Battery Life is rated at 13 Hrs. Both speakers fulfilled their respective promised ratings.
3- "Dry Storage" compartment on the AQ11 just holds my iPhone 6S Plus without a bumper case. The AQ10 storage compartment just holds an iPhone 5S.
4- If space is a consideration, i.e. backpacking or a camping trip, the AQ10's diminutive size & weight will make it a better choice than the massive AQ11, which weighs in at a whopping 4#.
5- If playing loud is not a priority, but voice & prominent high frequencies are paramount, the AQ10 may be a better choice. The AQ10 emphasizes cymbals; you clearly hear every drum stick as it taps the hi-hat & the crack of the snare drum. The AQ11 emphasizes the floor tom & bass drum. You really have to listen for cymbals to hear them on the AQ11. Bass & Mid Bass frequencies are prominent on the AQ11; High and Mid High Frequencies are prominent on the AQ10.
6- See 2) photos that show BOTH the Massive AQ11 & the Impressive AQ10 in Outdoor Venues.

Super Practical in Virtually Any Circumstance!

The Samsung POWERbot R7070 exceeded my expectations in most areas. It underwhelmed me with just a couple of issues. For full disclosure, I also own 2) iRobot 980 Top-Of-The-Line bots & owned 2) earlier generation iRobot bots. Here is a summary of my findings:
LIKES:
1- The CycloneForce design really works! This is the most powerful Robotic Vacuum I have ever owned. The suction & pick-up power is amazing. It cleaned my high pile carpet with ease. Much stronger pick-up power than the iRobot Roomba 980.
2- This is the quietest, least annoying sound of any Robotic Vacuum I have owned. The sound is not only quieter, the frequency is lower than most (more bass & less treble) so it is much less abrasive sounding & not annoying, as are my other bots. You can actually tune it out while it is cleaning.
3- Washable filter with a spare filter included. This dramatically lowers the cost of ownership! By comparison, the disposable iRobot filters fill up fast & are expensive! This Samsung design with a washable filter is truly a brilliant design, complete with a finger pull to keep your fingers out of the dirt!
4- Dirt canister is easily accessible with one push button on top of the bot. No bending over & fiddling below the vacuum, just to dump the dirt, like every iRobot model. In addition, the dirt canister is a simple rectangle with curved edges. Nowhere for dirt to cling. The iRobot dirt canister is a very complex shape, requiring manual dirt extraction by fingers every time. Then you have to remove the Roomba $$ filter, clean or replace it. The Samsung R7070 has the best filter / canister system of any Robotic Vacuum I have ever seen.
5- Long 11" Brush provides more efficient cleaning with fewer floor passes, resulting in greater battery life. The design of a rectangular front edge is brilliant, allowing this 11" brush with easy corner cleaning access.
6- Camera capturing the ceiling results in attractive, perfectly straight "clean lines" in the carpet - no random zig zag pattern here!
Hint: Leave the light on in the room to be cleaned so the camera can properly see & map out the ceiling.
7- Long Battery life, as advertised. I experienced as long as 90 minutes if "quiet" mode was selected; for regular cleaning, I found never less than 60 minutes of powerful cleaning. This is excellent!
8- Large, spring-loaded wheels power it over the thickest area rugs with ease. Best accessibility of any vacuum I have owned.
9- Auto deep cleaning mode on carpets works well & applies turbo power just where needed. This saves battery power on hardwood & makes for quieter cleaning, except when extra power is needed - and this is selectable in the app.
10- Auto return to base for recharge works the best of any vacuum I have owned. The iRobot 980 does a fair job of this, but can be thrown off if it cannot "see" the base. The Samsung R7070 outperforms it, plain and simple. As long as the bot is within 20 feet of the base, it will do a dance if necessary to line up perfectly & charge itself. In addition, the base has massive, non slick rubber surfaces which hold it securely on hardwood, ceramic tile, linoleum, or carpet. The iRobot base, by comparison, has a slick bottom, requiring me to secure that base to the wall with adhesive strips. Samsung has a far superior design. See my photo of the bot on the base, tucked deep between an antique Coke Machine & Oak cabinet. The R7070 has no difficulty finding this any time, even from another room.
11- No goofy "rotating whisker brushes" are needed to clean in the corners. The R7070 cleans in the corners extremely well, due to the flat edges & the long 11" brush. On the contrary, the iRobot 980 stirs up dirt with whisker brushes, and often does not pick up the dirt & cat hair the whisker brushes loosened up.
12- You can drive the R7070 by included remote or phone / tablet app. No more bending down every time to position it or move it to another room! This is a HUGE benefit, which the iRobot Top-Of-The-Line 980 cannot do.
13- At just over 3' tall, the R7070 can go places many taller bots cannot. This is a substantial achievement & makes this bot super practical in virtually any circumstance.
DISLIKES
1- Magnetic Strips are required to restrict bot access. I STRONGLY prefer the wireless virtual wall "Lighthouse" included with iRobot bots. They are inconspicuous & can be left in place or put away between uses. Why build such a technology marvel as the Samsung R7070 and require outdated magnetic strips to be stuck to your floor or buried below an area rug? This is a deal breaker for me & is the sole reason why I do not plan to add a second R7070 for my 2nd floor. If you try to lay the magnetic strips on the floor temporarily, the R7070 drives over them.
2- Underdeveloped Software. The Samsung Smart Home Software should be updated. Adding the bot to another phone & tablet after first registering it with your phone is a nightmare. Such a disappointment for a wonderful & powerful bot to be hamstrung with weak software.
CONCLUSION: The Samsung R7070 is a tremendous achievement in vacuum & technology excellence!! I found it Super Practical in Virtually Any Circumstance! If you can tolerate the magnetic strips & the low performing software, you will be hard pressed to find a better performing robotic vacuum at any price!

Master and Dynamic Wireless Over-Ear Headphones Model # MW60 are an amazing engineering & design accomplishment!
LIKES:
1- The audio CLARITY is the most prominent feature. Be sure your audio source is accurate. Just to prove this, I listened to songs ripped with a low sample rate. It sounded muddy and flat. Analog music & digital tunes encoded with Apple Lossless transport you to live concert realism.
2- APPEARANCE is stunning! Only the finest materials are used: Stainless Steel, premium cowhide on headband outer surface and ear cup accents, soft lambskin on headband insides and ear pads. They are beautiful and feel so soft on your head!
3- The headphones fold, using precision Stainless Steel hinges for easy storage. This offers both convenience and extreme durability. The outer box, shown in my 2 pictures, is handy to store them folded.
4- Extended Bluetooth range is achieved due to using an aluminum, exposed antenna. Bluetooth 4.1 with Aptx is used to achieve a premium quality audio connection. The result is sound quality with greater Signal to Noise Ratio & extended frequency response than was possible with earlier Bluetooth generations.
5- Slide switch with LED indicators make On/Off & Bluetooth Connect positive & repeatable. No typical push & hold switch, where if you hold it too long, it forgets your connection. The slide switch is positive & repeatable. Slides with precision feel.
6- Convertible - For precision listening, plug them in with the included cable & adaptor. For handsfree listening, simply switch on Bluetooth! Your choice of active or passive headphones, all in one.
7- The battery lasted over 30 minutes longer than the rated 16 hours!
8- Charging is a simple plug-in by any USB power supply - a super flexible, yet strong cable is included.
9- An insanely over-designed leather pouch is included to hold the Bluetooth cable, audio cable & adaptor. These cables are amazing, too! They are strong, yet amazingly flexible! See the leather pouch in my photo.
10- WOW Factor! Just one look at the machined Stainless Steel surfaces on the outside of each ear piece, the gorgeous lambskin & leather & you know these headphones mean business!
DISLIKES:
1- The only possible Dislike I could consider was the weight of these headphones. They are heavy to pick up. Yet, on your head, they DO NOT feel heavy! The width & super soft lambskin of the headband & earcups spread the weight. This extreme weight distribution by design, engineering & luxurious material selection effectively negates this possible dislike.
CONCLUSION:
Master and Dynamic Wireless Over-Ear Headphones Model # MW60 deliver EAR ECSTASY!

Take your tunes anywhere with this LifeProof AQUAPHONICS speaker. This floating waterproof device is submersible in up to 1m of water for 30 minutes, and it deflects damage from snow, ice and dirt. Pair this LifeProof AQUAPHONICS speaker with up to eight Bluetooth devices, and use the included dry box for storing keys and cards.

DISLIKE: (This turned out to be a LIKE!):
Use of a dedicated charger is unfortunate for convenience (because it is something else to take with you on vacation, for example), but is REQUIRED because it delivers 12 Volt at 2.0 Amp to charge the built-in hefty battery (12V X 2.0A = 24 Watt). A USB charging jack would have been more convenient, but USB delivers 5 Volt, so the same power (24 Watt) / 5 Volt would require 4.8 Amp output. That is IMPOSSIBLE because 4.8 Amp exceeds the power available via USB. A large tablet charges at 5 Volt / 2.0 Amp (10 watt), for example. To achieve the sound output & battery life described in Benefit #3 listed above, this dedicated charger is not only appropriate, but is ESSENTIAL.
LifeProof could have designed a BT Speaker with a smaller power amplifier & smaller battery that could be charged on a 5 Volt USB plug. But they chose to prioritize PERFORMANCE, thus requiring an external 24 Watt power supply. This design choice elevates the AQ10 to a High Performance Class by itself & the "dislike" for inconvenience is surpassed by "WOW!" sound quality, extended battery life & extreme design integrity. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!
CONCLUSION:
AQUAPHONICS AQ10 is the hands down, Industry Leading Bluetooth Speaker for Rugged Applications. I Love it & HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

EA9300 Delivers Blazing Speed, Amazing Performance

The Linksys EA9300 Max-Stream AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router is a Top-Of-The-Line Performer!
CHALLENGE: 5,000 Sq feet home, over 3 floors. Highest Wireless speed requirements are on the extreme opposite ends of the house on the main floor.
CHALLENGE 2: WIRELESS CONNECTED DEVICES: 95, including 13) connected BAS Fans & lights, 2) HUE hubs (they are limited to 50 devices / hub), Wink Hub, 4) Nest Cams & 5) Arlo Pro cams, 2) Honeywell connected T-Stats, 18) Airplay speakers, 12) iDevices & many more streaming WiFi devices.
TEST RESULTS: This EA9300 produces Wireless Speeds at the limit of my Cable Service Provider (300 mB/sec) within 30 feet of the router with my iPad Pro! This is by far the fastest speed I have tested to date on any router to a wireless device. Moving another 20 feet away and the speed reduces the speed by approximately 10%. The router delivers very good speed at the extreme end of the house, through several walls & rooms, falling off an additional 25%. This is a blazing speed, considering the distance & the rooms between.
OBSERVATIONS: The improvement in speed of this EA9300, primarily due to the 2) 5Ghz bands + 1) 2.4Ghz band & MU-MIMO design, compared with competitive MU-MIMO routers from every brand I could find, is stunning. All devices work with NO Drop-Outs! This Trip-Band Router is a keeper!
FINAL SET-UP: In the end, I kept 2) of my old Dual Band Routers & switched them to Bridge Mode, one at the opposite end of this Router & one in the basement. This is not necessary, but since I already own them, why not? I already had Ethernet run there via Cat 6 cable, so it was a simple plug-in connection. Results? 290 - 300Gb/Sec virtually everywhere, with NO devices dropping out even once.
CONCLUSION: I give the Linksys EA9300 Max-Stream AC4000 Tri-Band WI-FI Router my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

This Oral-B Pro 6000 Connected Toothbrush is one of the latest & greatest among the "Top-Of-The-Line" Bluetooth connected toothbrushes. I also own last year's high-end Oral-B BRAUN D36 7000 Smart Series & will contrast it during this review.
LIKES:
1- Luxurious, Precision Top-Of-The-Line Feel, Perfectly Balanced Precision Tool
2- Rubber anti-slip handle is better placed than previous top-of-the-line D36 7000 Smart Series
3- Bright LED light at the handle flashes bright RED if you apply too much pressure to the brush & the pulsations stop! This protects your gums from getting sore by rubbing too hard. The red light on the 7000 Series was barely noticeable unless you saw it in the mirror. You can't miss this one!
4- Choice of alerts from "Professional" to "2 minute" timer. "Pro" is default & is my favorite: 4) 30 second pulses, rather than 1) 2-minute pulse. This suggests the left / right / upper / lower quadrant brushing time.
5- Internal battery is Li-ion. This internal battery is much lighter weight, charges faster, lasts longer & is far superior to the older Ni-Mh battery on all models within the past 3 years. Prior to that, Ni-Cd was used, which had memory issues.
6- This is the lightest handle to date, primarily due to the lighter weight battery referenced in point # 5. It feels much lighter than the 7000 Series.
7- The brush action feels more powerful than the 7000 Series, again, most likely due to the superior battery.
8- Bluetooth connection is instantaneous to your smart phone, regardless of brand. See Bluetooth Advantages at the bottom of this review.

Polk Delivers an Over Achiever in a Petite Package

I favor Polk Audio sound & build quality since their start in 1972. Surprised that Polk Audio introduced a portable Bluetooth speaker, I jumped at the chance to grab one - especially at the very attractive price point & bright color (Sport Blue).
Set-up is the easiest of any Bluetooth speaker I have connected. Simply press & hold + & - buttons for 2 seconds & go to your phone or tablet. Open Settings / Bluetooth / Select "Connect". Done.
Sound quality is amazing, clear & LOUD! This is a TINY, unobtrusive speaker with BIG SOUND! Clip it to your T-shirt collar & you are good to go (see photo).
Increase / decrease volume by pressing + or -. Change music by holding + or - for 2 seconds. It is very intuitive; adjust volume / select a song once or twice and it comes naturally. The + & - buttons are raised, and you feel them without searching.
Power on / off by holding + & - together for 2 seconds. It makes a cool "Bonk!" sound to identify power on / off. Bluetooth pairing is automatic with on activation. No fuss.
The Li-ion battery lasted 3 Hr. 15 minutes playing loud, beating the claimed 3 Hour battery life.
USB charging with a snug fitting rubber cover to protect it from the elements. Rubberized case protects from drops. Power is rated at 1.5 Watts output! That is amazing for a speaker the size of a Key Fob. Believe it! It plays LOUD!
Telephone conversations are clear and easy to understand. Answer the phone: 2 second hold (+ Button). Hang Up Phone: 2 Second hold (- Button).
CONCLUSION: The Polk Bit is an amazing piece of technology condensed in a beautiful, lightweight, colorful & tiny package. It is "Just Right". Polk hit another Home Run! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BIT!!

An included magnetic cord with USB is used to charge the battery. Simply place it on the bottom of the Ultra Camera & it sticks & electrically connects to the camera. You have the option of keeping power on the battery during use, if a wall outlet is handy.

I have an Eero wireless router with 3 satellite ports. It works well in my 2 story home. Do the cameras need to be 50 to 100 ft from the base or from the Eero satellite port?
The cameras must directly interact with the Base. The "Smart" features are actually in the Base. I am finding much greater distance than the quoted distance of the Ultra camera rom the Base. The base plugs into the router via Ethernet, so the Wireless Router distance to the camera does not matter.

How long do batteries last on the cameras
The answer totally depends on the amount of motion the camera sees. In a quiet environment, I saw nearly 2 months of battery life. In a high motion environment, I had to charge it about once / week. By motion, I mean a dog or a person alerting the camera to motion.

The headphones may be automatically connecting to your iPhone, retaining that connection, and if so, cannot connect to your laptop if it is nearby, as Bluetooth can connect to only one source at a time.
Power your iPhone off as a test, or, if you prefer, simply swipe up the screen from the bottom & select Bluetooth OFF.
Then go to settings on your laptop - Bluetooth - make visible. Press & hold the headphone power button on. Look for the headphones on your laptop Bluetooth list. It should be there now. Click on the WH-CH700N.
Power your iPhone back on, or restore Bluetooth, which you previously turned off.

Can you activate Google Assistant with the mic like you can Siri? I didn't see it listed as a feature.

You can activate an assistant with the WH-CH700N the same as you can with the iOS Home button.
If you can activate Google Assistant by pressing the Home Button & speaking into the phone, then you can activate Google Assistant with the WH-CH700N.
However, if you press the Home Button & it only brings up Siri, that is the same result to expect from WH-CH700N.
Go to Settings - Accessibility - Home Button - Voice Control. If you can get Google Assistant to open, then the answer to your question is YES.
