Clips Brings AI to Casual Photography

Clips is a groundbreaking camera, offering Artificial Intelligence to guide video & photo capturing.
I brought Clips to a restaurant with 6 friends & balanced it on top of a ketchup bottle, to get it at face level. Rotate the ring around the lens 1/4 turn to the right to activate the camera. Enjoy the venue & let the camera learn the situation & decide when to take videos & photos.
Results: Clips captured a lot of smiles! Simply put, if you broke into a big smile or laugh, Clips captured your photo!
Most images were sharp and clear, at 1080P resolution. A few of the 17 images were blurred. These appear to have blurred the individuals who were sitting next to the camera - they were too close to produce clear motion.
Clips does not capture sound.
I pressed the white button below the lens to manually capture several still photos at the table. These still images came out tack sharp, with clarity near Smart Phone quality.
Bottom line: AI is the future in cameras, available today from Google in Clips. It is based on a forward thinking AI concept. There is plenty of room to improve Clips. Initial decisions of which images to capture appear to be made based simply upon movement & smiles. As Clips learns familiar faces, better decisions on which scenes to capture are likely.
I recommend Clips as a fun camera to add capability to your camera arsenal.

"Relic" Wireless In-Ear Headphones

PREFACE:
Rowkin Surge Charge Wireless In-Ear Headphones feature a budget "Relic" design; they produce good sound.
LIKES:
1- Sound quality is good.
2- Rowkin Surge Charge are lightweight, despite their large size.
3- Micro USB cable is included to charge the case.
4- Comfortable, secure fit with ear stabilizers.
5- Press a button on the outside of the charging case to activate a battery level digital bar graph. See this detail in attached photo.
CONCERNS:
1- Largest In-Ear Headphones I have tested.
2- Large charging case is too thick to fit in your pocket: 4.75" X 2.75" X 2". See side profile of massive charging case in attached photo.
3- Each earbud must be plugged in using wires separately within the charging case. This is unheard of today. All of the separate earbuds I have tested have gold contacts that connect with the charging case when dropped in. These earbuds have individual micro USB jacks, making the headphones extra large. You have to remove the tiny rubber covers off of each Micro USB jack and connect each with wires within the charging case every time you charge them. After charging, you have to cover up both charging jacks with the rubber caps to prevent moisture intrusion. This is time consuming & difficult to do with large fingers.
4- Bluetooth disconnects right, left or both ear pieces and reconnects 5 or 6 times / hour. No other In-Ear Headphones that I have tested have this poor Bluetooth connection issue.
5- Unlike other Wireless In-Ear Headphones, there is no app, so equalization & configurable sound is not adjustable. If you care to enhance the bass, or tweak the treble, you will have to make that adjustment manually on your phone or tablet.
6- Rowkin Surge Charge do not offer Noise Cancellation.
7- Telephone calls sound tinny, like you are using a "cheap phone", to both parties.
CONCLUSION:
There are many Wireless In-Ear Headphones available today & pricing has become very competitive. Preferred models include free apps with sound tweaking, selectable ambient sound blending, Noise Cancellation, Equalization & Bluetooth priority for sound vs. connectivity. Those features are missing on Surge.
The Bluetooth disconnection / reconnection interrupting the music is the primary reason for not recommending Surge Charge. Two individual cable connections with covers just to recharge R + L send this model back to the drawing board.
Rowkin - Surge Charge Wireless In-Ear Headphones are not recommended.

OBSERVATIONS:
1- Beautiful multi-color, shapely design.
2- Exclusive SONY EXTRA BASS sounds AMAZING in these earbuds! Ultra low, deep bass frequencies are available in spades.
3- SONY Headphone App (free) offers equalization / ambient sound settings / extra bass.
4- IP-4 Sweat & Splash Resistant - perfect for working out.
5- Feather weight design provide all-day comfort.
6- Ear stabilizers keep these earbuds from moving around in your ears, so the sound quality remains the same as you are active.
7- Choose to isolate outside sounds with Noise Reduction, or elect to blend in Ambient Sound so you hear what is going on around you. These are adjustable by simple SONY Headphone App settings.
8- One-touch telephone calls sound clear to both parties.
9- 3-Hour battery life + 2) 3-Hour charges from the battery in the case = 9-Hour total battery power.

Sony SP600N Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones deliver incredible bass and are the most comfortable earbuds I own. Here are highlights:
1- Comfortable because of the ear stabilizer (they do not fall out of your ears) and excellent weight balance (they are not heavy where the wire connects, so they do not try to pull out of your ears).
2- Light weight makes all day listening a pleasure.
3- Modern Bluetooth 4.1 provides 30-40 feet of easy connectivity & draws very little power.
4- Long battery life (up to 6 hours with noise reduction activated).
5- Sony Extra Bass features amazing on these earbuds! Simply install the free Sony Headphone App.
6- Highly configurable features let you choose the level of noise reduction (isolation); or do you prefer to blend in ambient sound? Equalization? Extra Bass? Just turn on this free app and the variations to the sound / noise reduction effects you control are stunning.

Bass Forward, Gym Friendly Design

The Under Armour Sport Wireless Flex Bluetooth Earphones are designed to stay put during the most active workout.
POSITIVE IMPRESSIONS:
1- Featuring a "Bass Forward" design that I prefer during a workout, they provide a gentle bass "thump" without wrecking the balance between high, mid & low frequencies. Bass is featured, but does not dominate the audio; this is a good thing.
2- The grey color / black wires blend & are unobtrusive. This color will not stand out in a crowd, but will not offend, either.
2- Ultra light weight design.
3- Flex feature theoretically provides an adjustable fit. In practice, I did not find the adjustability sufficient to change the already comfortable fit; perhaps you may.
4- 12 Hour rated battery life actually proved to be accurate. This is excellent!
5- Bright LED strip adds visibility at night.
6- Water resistant design with IPX5 rating (not submersible but water resistant).
7- Good wireless phone call capability; the microphone works well.
8- Micro USB charging cable is included; this is a standard connection, a smart move; you probably already have such a cable in your arsenal, so if you lose it, it is very economical & easy to find & replace.
9- I like the "enhancers" (silicone fins), but enhancers without fins are included, as well.
CONCERNS:
1- The ear pieces arrive compressed so tightly in their custom foam packaging, a forceful tug on the ultra thin wire is necessary to eject them from the suffocating factory sheathe. This cannot be good for the slim wires for each earpiece. The overzealous packaging could easily cause a broken wire failure before you wear them the first time.
2- Buttons are the smallest of any headphones or earphones I have seen to date. I have size XXL hands, so I have to press the tiny controls with my fingernails. To make matters worse, they require a forceful push on their hard surfaces.
3- Spend time to try each size ear tip (Small / Medium / Large) while carefully listening to your favorite song that you know the best!! Focus on the bass. Press the earphones in toward your head. If the bass increases, try a size smaller ear tip. I tried a larger size ear tip & 10 minutes later, my ears hurt & the bass was even less. Fit is more critical to sound than any earphones I have ever worn. They are labor intensive to set up. They ship with Medium ear tips (which makes sense). I spent 30 minutes trying all ear tips listening to the same song, but when you get the right ear tips for your ears, they sound consistent; bass does not change as you press them in toward your head. No movement affects the sound. I was very disappointed with bass response when I put them in my ears for the first time. Spend (a lot of) time & you will be rewarded by balanced audio. -1 Point.
4- No Carrying Case - this is disappointing because for $129, I expect these earphones to last awhile. I am willing to go the extra effort to protect them & not throw them in a backpack or gym bag, where the emaciated wires would not stand a chance of not breaking. So how am I supposed to carry them to & from workouts? Who sells a carry pouch designed to safely protect these? After spending $129, why should I have to search for a unique carry case?
5- The wires are non retractible, unlike some Bluetooth earphones that I own. They form an unattractive large loop, connecting to the main unit that is around your neck.
6- Limited Bluetooth range. Sound dropped out 25 feet away at most & much closer if any walls or barriers are between the earphones & the phone or tablet source. What bothers me the most is when sound cuts out for a second with no barriers & the iPhone 6S Plus is sitting on my desk, 2 feet away. This happens on average, once during every other song. I consider this the biggest concern I have with these headphones. -1 Point.
CONCLUSION:
These Bluetooth Earphones require more set-up time and effort than any other I have owned. They offer very good sound if you are willing to put in the time. The Bluetooth signal dropping out as mentioned in Concern #6 is my biggest concern; they earn a 3-Star Rating.

The Turtle Beach Stream Mic is a fun & exciting way to enhance your voice over any streaming platform. I connected it to the latest Mac Pro & tested it on X-Box.
To begin, download the Turtle Beach Audio Hub free app (see photo). This enables "Announcer Voice" (configurable reverb), eq, mic monitor, auto noise gate eliminator and many more parameters.
It is hard to believe the amazing effects achieved through this app. You can sound very deep, mid range, extra deep & crisp, for starters. The level of reverb is awesome! This is my favorite effect. Noise gate completely eliminates the floor noise. Unbelievable! No more hiss.
Microphone construction is superb. Metal grille, heavy weighted base, metal yoke supporting the mic, infinitely adjustable angle & tension holding the mic position. It looks expensive & is built to survive real world gamer, blogger & DJ use.
Sound quality is very good. Sound effects and the ability to differentiate your voice & to elevate you above the crowd of streamers is it's strong suit.
Become an Instant DJ with this microphone & app! The Turtle Beach Stream Mic has become my favorite go-to microphone for blogs & earns my highest recommendation!

Sony SRS-XB41 reigns supreme as the Best of the Best portable wireless Bluetooth speaker. This amazing performer is in a class by itself, literally inventing a new category of an interactive party speaker, while surpassing all competitors with Extra Bass & performance enhancements.
LIKES:
1- “Extra Bass”, a Sony exclusive feature, is selectable by the free Sony Music Center App. It is activated by default, and the sound enhancement is stunning!
2- “Live Sound Mode” is also selectable by free Sony Music Center App. It produces an ultra wide spread sound that puts you in the middle of the band. The musical instruments sound like they are across the room with you in the center! Extra Bass is integrated into this mode, so you not only get a room full of sound, you get strong bass, too. Ultra Light = Ear Delight

INTRODUCTION:
The Sony WH-CH700N/L are amazingly light weight & comfortable noise canceling headphones. I chose the blue model because I prefer bold colors & they look fantastic (see attached photos). I trusted Sony would deliver very good sound for the money.
As a point of reference, I own a variety of premium wireless headphones & primarily listen to Master & Dynamic - MH40 Over-the-Ear Headphones, which weigh 0.7937 pounds, but feel much heavier. They cost 2X the cost of these Sony headphones. These Sony WH-CH700N/L weigh only 0.53 pounds but feel much lighter.
COMFORT:
Comfort reigns supreme, due to the pillowy soft ear cushions, the gentle, deeply padded head support & the light weight build.
BASS:
Sony has mastered the art of boosting bass with minimum distortion & these headphones are a perfect example: "Clear Bass +10" produces dynamic deep bass at a 10dB gain without distortion, even at a high volume SPL's. Great bass punch with no audible distortion!
THE APPS:
The Sony Connect App is very useful for selecting "Clear Bass +10" bass boost, choosing DSP for one of several venues & offers a graphic equalizer for customizing your sound. I prefer "Clear Bass +10" "ON" + tweak the high frequencies with EQ & leave the DSP venues "OFF". The Sony Connect App works in conjunction with the Sony Music Center App. Both Apps add critical features to optimize & custom tailor the sound, and each App has a 1-click transfer to lead you directly to the other App. Without the Sony Connect App & the Sony Music Center App the headphones earned 4 Stars; after a little listening & tweaking both Apps to optimize the audio, these headphones earned a resounding 5 Stars!
NOISE CANCELATION:
Noise Cancelation is the only feature that works well, but I would prefer user adjustable levels, rather than the headphones analyzing the noise source & canceling it at levels it determines are appropriate. This is strictly personal preference - I am not taking away a star because the system cancels noise & is very effective; I simply prefer to be in control.
BATTERY LIFE:
Impressive! Up to 35 hours of playback & 200 Hrs of standby time.
Every 10-minutes of charging yields 1 hour of music playback.

FOLD AWAY DESIGN:
The headphones swivel for easy & fast storage. Great when you are deboarding a plane & you are in a rush to reach your connecting flight.
DSEE:
The Sony exclusive Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) restores the high frequencies to the rich detail before compression. Toggle via the aforementioned App. The improvement is stunning!
BLUETOOTH OR HARD WIRE:
The Bluetooth connection with Sony DSEE sounds awesome; you also have the option of directly connecting to a music source via the included 3.5mm cable.
MICRO USB:
These headphones include a USB to Micro USB cable for charging. Micro USB is great because it is used by most every manufacturer. It means if you forget the cable on a trip, you can pick up a cable anywhere.
CONTROLS:
The controls on the WH-CH700N/L are super intuitive, so you do not need to remove them from your head to skip a song or pick up a phone call.
VOICE COMMANDS:
One touch & you are speaking to your phone's assistant & can make calls clearly & easily.
RECOMMENDATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS:
1- These are such great travel headphones, a travel case should be included. They swivel to a small package; they need a small but tough zipper case. I am in the market to buy one now, but it should have been included.
2- Add Noise Reduction Option Settings to the Sony Connect App for greater flexibility.
CONCLUSION:
ULTRA LIGHT = EAR DELIGHT!!
I listen to the Sony WH-CH700N/L for more hours than any other headphones I own & forget I am wearing them. They earn 5 Stars & my Highest Recommendation!!

How do you charge the cameras?
An included magnetic cord with USB is used to charge the battery. Simply place it on the bottom of the Ultra Camera & it sticks & electrically connects to the camera. You have the option of keeping power on the battery during use, if a wall outlet is handy.

I have an Eero wireless router with 3 satellite ports. It works well in my 2 story home. Do the cameras need to be 50 to 100 ft from the base or from the Eero satellite port?
The cameras must directly interact with the Base. The "Smart" features are actually in the Base. I am finding much greater distance than the quoted distance of the Ultra camera rom the Base. The base plugs into the router via Ethernet, so the Wireless Router distance to the camera does not matter.

How long do batteries last on the cameras
The answer totally depends on the amount of motion the camera sees. In a quiet environment, I saw nearly 2 months of battery life. In a high motion environment, I had to charge it about once / week. By motion, I mean a dog or a person alerting the camera to motion.

YES! I have 5) Arlo Pro 2 Cameras & they work beautifully with the new Smart Base that is included with the new Arlo Ultra. Yours will work beautifully!
However, you cannot pair the new Ultra Camera with the old base you used with your Arlo Pro 2 Cameras. You will no longer need or would want to use that old base. This new one is far superior.

The product page shows that a $25 rebate is available to purchasers in Cape Cod. The MA-saves website shows no option to get such a rebate. Which is correct ??
The rebate would be through your utility company. I would recommend calling your local utility company in Cape Cod & ask them to send you the rebate form.

Why it is not able to connect to my laptop? It works well with the iphone.
The headphones may be automatically connecting to your iPhone, retaining that connection, and if so, cannot connect to your laptop if it is nearby, as Bluetooth can connect to only one source at a time.
Power your iPhone off as a test, or, if you prefer, simply swipe up the screen from the bottom & select Bluetooth OFF.
Then go to settings on your laptop - Bluetooth - make visible. Press & hold the headphone power button on. Look for the headphones on your laptop Bluetooth list. It should be there now. Click on the WH-CH700N.
Power your iPhone back on, or restore Bluetooth, which you previously turned off.
Power your iPhone off as a test, or, if you prefer, simply swipe up the screen from the bottom & select Bluetooth OFF.
Then go to settings on your laptop - Bluetooth - make visible. Press & hold the headphone power button on. Look for the headphones on your laptop Bluetooth list. It should be there now. Click on the WH-CH700N.

Can you activate Google Assistant with the mic like you can Siri? I didn't see it listed as a feature.

You can activate an assistant with the WH-CH700N the same as you can with the iOS Home button.
If you can activate Google Assistant by pressing the Home Button & speaking into the phone, then you can activate Google Assistant with the WH-CH700N.
However, if you press the Home Button & it only brings up Siri, that is the same result to expect from WH-CH700N.
Go to Settings - Accessibility - Home Button - Voice Control. If you can get Google Assistant to open, then the answer to your question is YES.
