I'm a fan, but I recognize that a new Iggy album is a hit and miss adventure. Sometimes you get a classic like The Idiot, Lust for Life or Brick by Brick. Sometimes you get Zombie Birdhouse or Party.
This one is a Pop classic created with an all-star band that obviously loves him and cherishes the chance to perform with Jim. They say this might be his last. If so, he goes out on top.
Here's hoping that he has at least one more in him!
It was hard for me to believe that the director of "Heavy Metal," Gerald Potterton, had also directed silent great, Buster Keaton in "The Railrodder." When I asked him, "How did that happen?" his answer was simple. "Hollywood is a strange place."
And, in my opinion, "Heavy Metal" a strange movie. Perhaps groundbreaking at the time of its release, it certainly is dated. Of course, the magazine upon which it was based, is of the same spirit.. But the soundtrack is fantastic and I'd highly recommend tracking down a copy.
Don't start here. Go back and watch the first two films. And be prepared to stay focused. Put the kids to bed. Turn off the cell phone and the lights.
I fell in love with Richard Linklater's "Before Sunrise" way back in 1995 at a local Cineplex. The stroll in Vienna, and conversation contained within during that walk reminded me of part I loved of my college years. I didn't expect or see the 2004 follow-up, "Before Sunset," until it hit DVD. Again, I didn't anticipate the release of "Before Midnight." In both cases, the director and cast delivered fantastic films.
We can all debate how we'd like the story of Jesse and Céline to progress. These films are simply a day in the life, and this approach to filmmaking seems to set Linklater apart from so many of his modern-day peers. Check out his second film, "Dazed and Confused" for another example of "a day in the life."
He's taken it to the next level with his latest, "Boyhood," certainly a strong candidate for Oscar consideration this year, and another great film.
While I have no idea if there will be another entry to the "Midnight" series, I do hope so. I've enjoyed, and revisited these films multiple times in the past. I hope you will as well.
Was never a huge fan of the tune, "Get Over It", but always loved "Learn to be Still." Found this set at Best Buy for a VERY reasonable price. You're getting four "new" releases, plus a live album. Nothing earth-shattering on the live set, but still a very nice selection of Eagles' tunes. Yes - I'd recommend it if you enjoy the band.
As a huge fan of music, I've been aware of Gary Clark Jr. for some time now. But, until this release, I had not picked up an album.
This, to me, is a fantastic introduction to his music, and an ideal place to jump in. As with so many guitar heroes, they seem to come alive on stage, and I feel that Clark illustrates that. Check out "When My Train Comes In," and "If Trouble Was Money." Then follow up with the final track, "When the Sun Goes Down." You'll get the feel.
Two discs at a great price. Start here, then work your way back through his catalog! Well worth the ride!
This double feature for fans of inspirational movies about the great American pastime offers two classic baseball films, A League of Their Own and The Natural.
I'm a big fan of both films. We were fortunate to have one of the original All American Girls Professional Baseball teams in my hometown, Muskegon, MI. And I understand film The Natural inspired research into the documentation of the design and look of Major League uniforms by baseball historian Marc Okkonen, another Muskegon resident.
Tom Hanks interplay with the cast of A League of Their Own is a blast to watch, and Robert Redford, in my opinion, is the perfect choice to play the inspirational role of Roy Hobbs in The Natural.
On Blu-ray, both films shine. Well worth the price!
Nice straightforward telling of the Robinson stpry

This is great retelling of the story that should be known by every causal baseball fan. Cast is top-notch. Only wish the extras enhanced things with more history on the breaking down of the color line on other teams. A wonderful opportunity to broaden this event from baseball's past was missed. This would have been an ideal place to share the story with today's youth. .
One of the great comedies with am outstanding cast and many quotable lines. Kevin Klien is fantastic as are Cleese and Palin (K-K-K-Ken!). Thanks for the aggressive pricing Best Buy!
