From Mondo Macabro comes one of Lucio Fulci's first horror films paving the way for what would become the Godfather of Gore's chosen genre as a director.
As usual, Blue Underground has assembled an impressive package for a lesser-known title with their disc of The Pyjama Girl Case. The transfer is up to the company's usual standards: the anamorphic, letterboxed video offers a colorful, richly detailed image and the mono track is a vigorous one that makes effective use of Riz Ortolani's score. In terms of extras, this disc features the original European theatrical trailer and "The Pyjama Girl Mystery," an impressive interview featurette that has true-crime author Richard Evans discussing the real-life case that inspired The Pyjama Girl Case. That featurette is a must for true crime buffs and is as fascinating as the film itself. Finally, there is an insert in the disc case that includes reprints of two comic book stories from Taboo that were inspired by the real-life "Pyjama Girl" mystery plus some introductory notes by Taboo editor Stephen Bissette.
This obscure zombie horror movie should be a part of any serious collectors undead collection. A sleazy, dirty film with one of the genres most infamous scenes ever filmed in glorious 2k.
Not quite the horror classic that the first film is and yet much more interesting than the lack-luster second film. Vestron is quickly becoming a collection for horror fans to keep their eyes on.
