Love the multiple interfaces and silent operation

I need Firewire and USB 3.0 so I can use the drive for new and older systems. I was immediately impressed with everything about this product from packaging to build quality to setup and performance. This drive is very solid. It sits sturdy on the desk when I use the power switch. It runs smoothly and is quiet. I am ordering another identical drive as a backup for the backup. I have been using several smaller external drives believing it is safer in case a drive breaks down. But I have changed my opinion and will be using a pair of these 4GB drives and just use the smaller drives with my Macbook Pro.

I am happy something like Apple exists. From the box to the product it is a wonderful experience acquiring an Apple product. This iPad Pro is an elegant alternative to a Wacom Cintiq. I tried the Wacom and although the drawing experience is decent the design and footprint is awkward and clunky. I am using the iPad Pro with Astropad App to make the iPad a Wacom-type device. The iPad has the incredible Retina screen and is wireless. The Wacom had cumbersome cables and a larger footprint. The Apple Pencil feels like an art pencil and with a protective cover on the screen it simulates the feeling of drawing on traditional paper. People mention the Wacom pen is better because it has an eraser function on the end but even traditional art pencils don't have erasers. It is not important enough to tilt the scale. I am very happy to have an iPad Pro.

I'd like to make a system image of my computer. This means backup of all programs/applications/windows set up as well as data files. Recommendations please.
Not sure what you want recommended. Are you asking whether this is the drive for your needs? I have this drive as a complete system and storage backup. I am buying a 2nd LaCie to backup the backup. I am thoroughly impressed with this drive. It suits my needs perfectly. Or, are you asking for a method of backup? I just use Apple's Time Machine, being 100% Mac-based. Good luck.
