I purchased this air purifier about 2 months ago. Since that time it has performed as advertised. I have it located in my 900sq ft basement - in a home I had just purchased. The previous owner did not use the basement except for her 5 cats and their litter box.
Needless to say, I am very allergic to cats and react strongly to dust allergians as well (of which, there was plenty). The Alen BreatheSmart has allowed me to spend time in the basement (after some rigorous initial dusting and cleaning as well) without any issues. The colored air sensor is amazing! Each day when I head downstairs I can visibly see the sensor shows blue for clean air. This is after the basement and its air were left undisturbed overnight and the purifier was able to work its magic. The sensor then reacts as expected if I am downstairs working or playing with the kids, kicking up dust and carpet fibers. The sensor will change to orange or sometimes red and will automatically adjust the fan speed to high to counteract the contaminated air. After a while, the fan speed will lower and the sensor returns to blue. On most fan speed settings the fan noise is unnoticeable - the only time I really hear the fan, is when it's kicks on to high for brief periods to quickly clean the air.
Very happy. Considering buying a second one for my upstairs!
