The fifth season of the adaptation of Charlaine Harris' Southern vampire novels picks up right where Season 4 left off, with Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) fearing for the life of Tara (Rutina Wesley), though there is also the matter of cleaning up Debbie Pelt's blood. Meanwhile, Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) face a new threat, but it's coming from their own kind as they find themselves at the mercy of the Vampire Authority under Roman (Christopher Meloni) and Salome (Valentina Cervi), who want answers about the fate of Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare). Elsewhere, Sam (Sam Trammell) is pursued by a wolf pack after its leader disappears; Jason (Ryan Kwanten) has an unexpected reunion with Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian); and Terry (Todd Lowe) is haunted by visions of Iraq when war buddy Patrick (Scott Foley) shows up warning of repercussions from their tour of duty.

In the drama series' second season, the men and women of Firehouse 51 face an uncertain future after learning that their station may be slated for a shutdown. Meanwhile, Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) is targeted by a serial arsonist; Lt. Casey (Jesse Spencer) becomes a temporary guardian to Andy's two young children after their mother is in a drunken-driving accident and arrested for manslaughter; and Mouch (Christian Stolte) runs for union president. In non-firehouse-related events, a shady individual threatens Molly's bar, and Herrmann (David Eisenberg), Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Otis (Yuri Sardarov) fight to keep it in business. The season includes a crossover episode with "Chicago PD."

The first season of this police procedural drama follows the men and women of the Chicago Police Department, led by Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), who was first introduced in Season 1 of sister series "Chicago Fire." Serving with him are: Det. Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda); patrol officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins); Det. Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush); Det. Sheldon Jin (Archie Kao); Det. Alvin Olinksy (Elias Koteas); Det. Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer); and patrol officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). As the team go after a Colombian drug cartel that's linked to a series of brutal slayings, rookie officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) joins the team fresh from the police academy.
