A modern classic

While Dreamworks productions may not be instant classics as many Disney movies 'attempt' to be - titles like Despicable Me and How to Train Your Dragon are changing that in my mind. The writing for this movie, and it's execution are fun for both children and parents - and heck even adults who want a funny movie.
This copy is pretty complete with all the normal extras, DVD, and digital copy. I'm pretty happy that I have this now in my ultraviolet collection.

Cheap, fast storage

What can I say - it's a magnetic platter, it rotates pretty quickly, and it stores 5TB (4.54TB because of the way manufacturers define TB's and what TB's actually are). I use this in a storage spaces pool that's around 16TB in size. Can't complain!

Great Product Great Service!

First of all, I'm a IT professional, so my knowledge of Windows and the hardware underlying this tablet is pretty high. Just some basic info - yes, it's quad core - and yes it's X86. For most nerds that's enough to let you know it's packing at least decent power. 1GB of RAM and 16GB eMMC (internal storage) is very much low-end these days, but it's surprising what windows can do with it. OOTB it gives you about 4-5GB of space. Post Office install it ends up being quite a bit smaller. about 1.7GB of that 'used' space is a dynamic pagefile. Unfortunately the office installer doesn't give you the option of installing office to an SD card. The screen is IPS and has really good viewing angles for the price. Wifi is acceptable, and bluetooth seems to work well (see my note about sleep issues). USB OTG support (you can get the cables cheap off amazon, I'm not sure if Best Buy even carries them) - and it does work with hubs (necessary if you ever want to run anything other than windows 8.1). Volume buttons and power button have a good feel to them and the capacitive windows button works, but with no feedback. There is a little LED by the camera that glows red when charging. 2 Cameras offer enough quality for skyping or taking basic photos - don't expect this to take pictures like a high end smartphone. It's got enough chops for simple apps and runs office well.
I ended up wiping mine and installing the Windows 10 Technical Preview. I first backed up the recovery, backed up drivers using a powershell script I found on a technet blog, and then installed using a USB Hub + Keyboard + Mouse + USB Key w/ WIndows 10 TP. You do have to be careful and setup the USB drive as GPT (Use a tool called Rufus). The install went quickly and I did delete the windows and recovery partition to maximize space. I installed the drivers and everything worked perfectly, except the touch screen which was all messed up. I emailed support and they dropped me the driver package with the correct calibrations! You can also use the driver packages for the Onda v820w (just google it), which is the direct from china model w/ 2GB ram and 32GB emmc and HDMI (looks nearly identical). For the price though (got it on sale), this tablet has mroe than enough emmc to support a windows install and basic tablet apps. Windows 10's tablet mode and Cortana make this guy an Android killer in my mind. I'm very impressed with the hardware and support from Digiland.
One more note: I did try MHL just to see if HDMI was routed to the Micro USB, but no dice. This guy is a budget tablet, so it lacks some of the bells and whistles. Also, I know in windows 8, I had trouble with bluetooth causing windows to sleep to death, but I haven't had any issues with the windows 10 TP (same driver).
I wouldn't recommend installing the Technical Preview unless you're comfortable with using a USB OTG cable and hub + creating a UEFI bootable copy of windows. Also - you do have to use the X86 version of windows even though the Atom does support 64-bit. Drivers and bootloader will prevent you from installing the 64-bit version.
Since this tablet uses a recovery that also acts as it's source for windows files (google 'wimboot') for recovery, I'm not sure what the upgrade path will be for Windows 10. I will say, if you're brave enough to create a USB install you should be fine, as the hardware is sufficient for Windows 10.
I hope this review helps anyone who's looking for a fun device to play with! Lots of possibilities with a Windows tablet. I'd even venture to guess you could get Windows 7 booting if you really wanted to ;-).

Good movie

My final thoughts are more reserved for when the series ends. My wife has read the books and says this stays mostly true while hitting the high notes. At first I thought extending the trilogy to 4 movies was a money grab, but indeed my wife assured me that there is a lot going on in the 3rd book and the pacing is appropriate. At some point I felt as though the movie was settling into almost a TV show style cliffhangers - but who can blame Hollywood for copying TV these days (at least TV is doing it right lately). Jennifer Lawrence does a good job of playing the everyman - and does a convincing job of the insincerity we all might experience during the commercial shoot. I felt that was the most humanizing part of the movie for me. Outside that she goes back to her super hero feel though.
Also - anyone really ever try to shoot an arrow at an aircraft? At the speeds and altitude involved I found that unbelievable.
At this point, the plotlines start to become a bit more predictable, and the twist at the end of the movie was spoiled for me by my wife's synopsis given to be back when the first movie was released (spoilers don't bother me).
The films quality is outstanding. Audio is great as well. I would expect both to be from a recent Blu-ray release though. The packaging is amazing, and blends well with the steelbooks of previous releases. Now hurry up and get the last movie out!

Fast and Cheap!

These have been on almost a continuous sale since Christmas, and represent a great value. 240GB is a nice sweetspot - and I can't tell you how many people I've helped by installing this drive into their 3-4 year old laptop. Some people worry about replacing their '500GB' HD with something only 240GBs. But really - most of those people have used like 50GB of their '500'. I keep telling everyone: SSDs will change how you use your computer. You don't have to wait for 15 seconds for Word or Excel to launch. You can turn on your computer and not have to come back 5 minutes later. Everything is faster - a lot faster. HDs have long been the bottleneck and this drive has been the solution (well really any SSD, but this price to value here is nearly unbeatable)!
I recently upgraded a 7 year old MacBook (Early 2008) with this drive. It can't even run anything newer than Lion, but it feels faster than half the computers that use spinning drives (HDD). I upgraded an early Windows 7 laptop - it screams now! Put this in a 1 year old Dell Windows 8 entry level i3 machine whose HD had already failed - it boots in 3.5 seconds! That's freaking crazy!
I'd highly recommend this drive - it's fast (450MB/s reads, 300MB/s writes) and cheap. If you compare this to the 'latest and greatest' it might be behind, but the sheer speed increase from a spinning platter makes this drive a worthwhile investment for many. I've purchased 2 of these for myself, and put no fewer than 5 in other people's laptops.
So far out of 7 I've used none have had any issues. That's pretty good in my book!

What are the dimensions of the drive (LxWxH)?

(H) 7mm (w/ 9mm adapter) x (W) 70mm x Depth 100mm.

It's a standard laptop sized drive that differs in that it is the slimline format introduced a few years ago. The included adapter ensures a secure fit in almost every laptop. I've put this in Mac's, Dells' HPs, Lenovos, and custom computers - works almost everywhere!
