The SoundTouch® 300 soundbar looks slim. But the sound? Anything but. That’s because every cubic inch of it is packed with technologies that make everything you listen to or watch sound clear and spacious. It starts inside with custom-shaped speakers that keep the profile low and pump out big sound. QuietPort™ technology virtually eliminates distortion so you hear surprisingly deep bass. And Bose® PhaseGuide® technology makes you believe you’re hearing sounds where there are no speakers. On the outside, the glass top and perforated wrap-around metal grille make the soundbar look as good in your room as it sounds. And with both Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® technology built in, you can wirelessly stream music any way you prefer. ADAPTiQ® audio room calibration from Bose ensures the soundbar sounds the best it can in the space you put it. HDMI™ connectivity with 4K pass-through keeps your system compatible with the most current technology. NFC provides quick and easy pairing. The SoundTouch® app gives you simple control over your favorite music. Works together with other SoundTouch® speakers so as you go from room to room, your music goes along with you. Includes a universal remote so you can control your other devices, too. Available in Black

Really glad I went with the Bose soundbar. I previously had the big Soundtouch 30 music system connected to my TV via 3.5mm audio cable, but that setup did not offer the seamless transition from TV to bluetooth, etc. With the soundbar connected to my TV's HDMI ARC port, it comes on when I power up the Blu-Ray player or the TV, ready to go. It also shuts off when I power down the TV, which is nice. The remote is nice and intuitive as well. I shopped for weeks, looking to spend as much as $3000 on a compact integrated amp, high quality speakers, and a subwoofer to enhance my music listening and TV viewing experience in the dining room. Not a lot of space to work with, and although any number of soundbars would fit the shelf below my TV nicely, I was certain I did not want a soundbar. I was wrong. The sound is fantastic, even without the Bose subwoofer, for music and TV alike. The bass is adjustable, and with it turned up, the music is surprisingly deep and, as Bose likes to say, room-filling. Watching DVD's, I am frequently surprised by sounds coming from the side of the room. I don't care a whole lot about surround performance from a soundbar, but it is somewhat entertaining when a voice intended to come from a different room in the movie really sounds like it's coming from my kitchen. Overall, I'm really satisfied with the Bose Soundtouch soundbar. Maybe someday I will get myself the subwoofer and rattle the plates in my kitchen cabinets, but for now it's nice to have an enjoyable music listening experience from such an unobtrusive object. It blends into the black shelf on which it sits and those that notice it are impressed by the aesthetics of the glass top.
Dyson DC59 Animal Bagless Cordless Stick Vacuum: This lightweight, maneuverable vacuum performs a variety of cleaning tasks without tethering you to an electrical outlet. A motorized mini tool takes care of the places most traditional vacuums miss, and a handy dock simplifies charging and storage.
Some friends of ours were raving about their Animal a while ago and we didn't think much about it. We recently went through two cheaper upright vacuums in a period of 8 or 9 months and decided it was time to invest in a Dyson. We were going to get one of the larger Dysons, but it was sold out. Went home with the Animal and my wife loves it. She seems to think it is more powerful than the lower grade 120v upright vacuums we've owned before, even though this one is cordless. The best thing about it is the fact that you can simply grab it, run to the next room, clean what you need to clean, and set it back down. It's ultra-light and there's no cord to manage. Truly innovative product.
Keep your devices powered up with this four-pack of Duracell rechargeable AAA batteries. Made to last up to 5 years, these NiMH batteries can be recharged up to 400 times and can hold a charge for 1 year for longtime storage. Choose these Duracell rechargeable AAA batteries, which come pre-charged and ready for use.
I got a few gadgets for Christmas that required batteries (flashlights, LED candles, weather station, etc), and after thinking about it, decided it would be best to invest in some rechargeable batteries, rather than continue to send chemicals and materials into the landfill. After reading up on the specs of these and other batteries, I came to realize that modern rechargeable battery technology has come a long way. The stored energy in these batteries is comparable to some of the Lithium Ion batteries available from major brands, better than standard alkaline batteries, and way better than old rechargeable batteries.
You don't have to consider these a compromise in performance because they are rechargeable... they work very well and save you money in the long run. Initial investment is a bit much to swallow, but worth it to me.
