What stood to be the biggest of the Star Trek movies (though it didn't turn out that way) has been given acceptable treatment, but little more, on DVD. The first appearance of the Enterprise-D in widescreen is very impressive, and it will look great on big-screen monitors, and the producers have seen to it that the sound effects will test the tolerance of any home amplifier along with the accompanying speakers. The movie has been broken down into 16 chapters, which seems a little skimpy on a film of this length. The menu opens automatically, but there are no special features (not even a trailer) of any consequence.
