While these books were nowhere near as powerful as The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, or The Lord of the Rings, they do provide a fun dystopian story. The first installment of the series, kicks off with a surprisingly good movie. The budget they had to work with wasn't great, which speaks all the more highly of the mostly unknown cast. The blu ray looks great and has a decent amount of special features for you to enjoy
The first Divergent movie gave those who read the novels hope that the series would be a good adaption. However, with the second movie it seems that those hopes have largely been lost. The story-telling done here is nothing great, and while it stays mostly true to the book, it just doesn't use the source material well enough to consider it a faithful adaptation. With the obligatory two part installment for the final book yet to come, we'll see how the "trilogy" closes out. For me, I'll catch it as a rental
You are Talion, Ranger of the Black Gate. For what seems like eons, you have guarded the entrance to Mordor, keeping watch over Sauron's undisturbed dwelling place with relative uneventfulness. But in the blink of an eye, everything you hold dear is snatched from your grasp. Your family, your friends — even your very life is taken from you in one fell swoop that leaves your soul desolate and filled with an eternal rage. Resurrected by an unforgiving spirit, you have one purpose to your life, one thing that keeps your heart pumping and your mind from giving in to the relentless grief — vengeance. Prepare yourself to embark on a dogged vendetta that calls upon you to fight your way through Mordor and uncover the truth of the spirit who compels you. This epic tale of revenge and redemption transforms you into the most feared force in the land — the Shadow of Mordor.Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor delivers a dynamic game environment where the player orchestrates their personal plan of vengeance as they bend Mordor to their will. The game begins on the night of Sauron's return to Mordor, as his Black Captains brutally execute the Rangers of the Black Gate. Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance. Based on the player's actions with the in-game Nemesis System, every enemy encountered is distinct and can evolve to become a personal archenemy through the course of the game. As Talion's personal vendetta unfolds, players uncover the mystery of the Spirit that compels him, discover the origin of the Rings of Power and confront the ultimate nemesis. This Game of the Year Edition includes a host of Story and Warband Missions, Challenge modes, Runes, Skins and more to enhance your Shadow of Mordor experience.
Shadow of Mordor follows Talion as he seeks revenge on those who killed his family. The gameplay is a mix between the recent Batman series (free flow combat) and Assassin's Creed. The game does a great job of immersing you into the world of LOTR, and does a great job of telling a solid story.
You won't quite find the combat up to Batman standards, but it is a lot of fun. The open world experience is really where the action stands out. There's plenty of quests to enjoy and with the game of the year edition, there's probably 40+ hours of content if you want to experience everything.
This set contains every episode from season five of The Walking Dead, the long-running AMC series starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick, a small-town Georgia cop who helps lead a band of survivors on a seemingly never-ending trek in search of a safe haven after a zombie epidemic has swept across the country.
The Walking Dead is arguably the best show on TV right now. In terms of special features, there are a few behind the scenes featurettes and show commentaries. The features aren't robust, so if you're more interested in just the show you may want to wait for it to appear on Netflix. The digital transfer is also very solid, so you can see plenty of zombie action in great hi-def
The film itself has been transferred over nicely and looks great in HD. Few films from this era have special effects that have held up so well over the years. The features on this disc are decent, but the lack of commentary is a big downer for me. Overall a recommended add to any collection and an easy buy for me considering it came with a free ticket to see Jurassic World
