This CD is recommended for all fan's of '90's New York, Golden Age, Hip Hop. Excellent production and better than average rhymes from the new generation.
Another solid album from Mark Ronson filled with carefully chosen guests and excellent songwriting. While most know the lead single featuring Bruno Mars the rest of the album is worth a listen as well. This picks up where his previous album "Version" left off, only instead of '60's soul-era reimaginings this album features all original music and the vibe is more funk oriented. Think "The Time" or "Kool & the Gang" Highly recommended for fans of classic R&B.
While the new Wu-Tang album, A Better Tomorrow, could best be described as a disappointment, the same can not be said for Ghostface's new album, released just one week later. Backed by the "live sample" production of Adrian Younge the album plays like a movie, due to both the musical backdrop and Ghostface's vivid storytelling. Definitely recommended for all Wu aficionados and hip-hop fans in general.
When D'Angelo dropped Black Messiah out of nowhere last month fans rejoiced, but wondered, after all this time off would he still have "it". The answer is yes, and then some. Black Messiah is an amazing album, that picks up where Voodoo left off, and then runs with up. A must own for any music fan
This album finds Prince really coming into his own as an artist and honing the sound that would make him one of the biggest stars of the 80's. As a bargain bin purchase, you can't lose with this CD.
Statik Selktah brings in a wide range of new and old school MC's on his latest collaborative effort, but it is really the beats that steal the show. Heavy on jazz samples, the production on this CD is a throwback to early/mid 90's production of Q-Tip, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Pro, etc. Recommended for all fans of Golden Era hip hop
If you are a fan of Dilated Peoples you will enjoy this release. Nothing ground breaking, but more of the boom-bap hip hop they are known for. Bonus points for the packaging, which goes the extra mile and rewards those people who still buy the physical CD
At first glance the underground, eclectic beats that Madlib has been churning out for the last 20 years would seem to be an odd backdrop for the gangsta raps of Freddie Gibbs, but this is an overall solid album in both the rap and beats departments. At times it gets a bit monotonous, but overall a good listen for both fans of Gibbs and Madlib
My expectation for Mobb Deep albums have been significantly lowered since the late nineties, but when I heard that their new CD would also feature a bonus disc of b-sides and out takes from the original Infamous in 1995 I figured I had to check it out. Not only does the bonus disc not disappoint, but the first Cd of new material was a pleasant surprise as well. P and Havoc sound better than they have since Murda Muzik back in 99. I would definitely recommend for all fans of '90's era boom-bap rap.
Rock out to your favorite tunes with these JVC Gumy HAFX5W earbud headphones, which feature a soft rubber body that provides a comfortable fit and offers sound isolation to help block outside noise. The 11mm driver units produce crisp audio.
I bought these headphones as a low cost replacement when my ipod earbuds finally went out. You get what you pay for. The earbuds do a good job of cancelling outside noise. They aim for the low-end of the spectrum and are very bass-heavy, a la beats, but with no where near the sound quality. The end result is bass heavy, but very muffled. Definitely not a crisp sound quality.
