I service computers for a living. Sometimes I need to boot a computer from an external drive to run diagnostics and repairs on the internal drive. These are large enough to install whatever version of Windows or OS X I need, along with diagnostic and repair utilities...and they're so much cheaper and more portable than using portable USB hard drives. But these are also great for storing huge files, music, videos...whatever.

Alternative to the cable

Apple TV was easy to set up, and streams Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO NOW, and a bunch of other channels. HD video and audio quality are much better than I was getting with cable. Of course to get movies and TV you'll have to subscribe to Netflix, Hulu Plus, or buy programming from the included channels. There are some free choices, but they're limited. It's tough to just get a recap of the news, like you'd get on cable or satellite, but I added an HD antenna to get the local broadcast stations. Although there are some channels I like on cable that I'll miss, I think I can live with that.

Time Warner wanted to charge a monthly "lease fee" of $8 per month for the 12 year old cable modem they had installed in my home. This modem cost me less than 1 year's "lease fees", meets much later communication standards, and there were only 2 steps to install: plug it in, and tell Time Warner the MAC address so they'd let it connect to their network. I was up in no time, and had them come to pick up their old modem. This was a great move!

I've been recommending these to my clients as backup drives. They're inexpensive, have lots of storage space, plug into their computers with just the USB cable (no power cord required), and can be formatted for PCs or Macs. Two customers have gotten drives with too many bad blocks on them, but Western Digital replaced them with no questions asked. I've been using this drive myself for about 2 years now with no problems. They also make great drives for carrying data with you wherever you go.

Regular blade and electric razors are awkward and difficult to use elsewhere on your body.
The top of the Bodygroom razor has a foil shaving head with trimmers on both sides. The trimmers have rounded edges so they don't catch or skin, scratch, or hurt. As you move the shaver on your skin, the trimmers cut off long hairs, and the foil shaving head shaves off what's left. Great for the groin area, and if you like your chest or back to be completely hair free.
The bottom of the Bodygroom has a more standard trimmer with a built-in length comb that is adjustable to several lengths. This side is great for trimming extremely long underarm hair to a reasonable, consistent length, or for leaving the "stubble" look wherever else on your body you like it.
This model takes about an hour to charge using the provided charging stand and charger, and gives you about 50 minutes of run time on a charge.
I've had it several weeks now. Don't use it daily, and when I do it takes very little time to groom, so I'm still on my first charge and the unit is running great.

Meets my needs perfectly

I've been using an older Panasonic 2-line cordless expandable phone system for years, and have always loved its easy of use and sound quality. But time and the need to incorporate new technologies for increased convenience made it necessary to look at something new.
This model not only lets me talk to my 2 land lines, it also allows me to connect up to 4 cell phones via bluetooth as additional lines. While the phone only allows you to talk to one bluetooth device at a time, I never talk to more than 1 cell at a time anyway.
The base unit is also compatible with any standard bluetooth headset…so I no longer have to use a wired headset connected to the jack in one of the handsets.
When my cell phones are out of range (like when I leave), they're no longer "connected" to the phone system…but as soon as I bring it back in range they immediately reconnect automatically. Same if I turn off the bluetooth headset…when I turn it back on it reconnects.
This system gives you almost infinite control. Configure each handset or the base to ring or not…on a line-by-line basis. Set each handset or the base to display caller ID info, or to announce it verbally. Intercom between the base an a handset (or between handsets), or conference multiple handsets in. Block repeating junk callers.
I stored my entire computer address book in the phone…about 1000 names and numbers (it actually holds about 3000).
Then, of course, theres the built-in answerer with up to 2 separate messages for each line…and each message can be set to play during certain time periods. Two separate voicemail boxes…one for each line.
The handsets on this phone don't sound quite as good as the ones from my old Panasonic system, but they certainly don't sound bad. With my headset they sound great.
The only downside I see to this system is that because of all the features, configuration takes some time and effort…more than my old system. But that's a consequence of the fact that this system does so many more things than the old system…you couldn't possibly include enough buttons and menu items to control all the different things this system can do. Besides, once you get it set up right, you don't need to do it again...

Will this device safely work with gen 5 iPad?
I can't directly answer the question because I'm only using it with an iPhone...but the magnet is extremely strong. I would use the larger metal place that comes with the mount for the iPad because that would insure that there's plenty of contact between the back of the iPad and the magnet in the mount. I would think it should work.

Does this internal hard drive fit for Dell XPS15 L521X ?
This would be a very acceptable replacement for the original 1TB drive in the Dell XPS15, but that computer is designed for performance, and there are faster drive choices. My favorite choice for this model would be the HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1TB 7200RPM drive. It's proven extremely reliable, and is faster than the WD Mainstream, which spins at 5400RPM. Is this modem compatible with Comcast cable services and my Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router
Planning to switch back to Comcast for cable TV and internet service when I move. Have a relatively new Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router that works great in my two story home. Hoping I can use this SB6141 cable modem with Comcast and my current wireless router.
It sure is. Plug it in, replacing your existing Comcast modem, contact Comcast support and tell them the MAC address of this modem (which is on a label on bottom of the modem and also on the paper that comes in the modem's box), and they'll activate the modem on their network. Then plug the ethernet cable from your Netgear into the ethernet port on the modem. You should be good to go.

That's precisely what this modem is for. I recommend replacing your TWC modem with this one...and saving their $8 per month charge (as I did).

I have Comcast Voice. Will this modem support my voice service?
No. The modem Comcast uses for voice includes two additional ports, each for one phone line. This modem is for cable internet only.

No. This is for cable internet, not DSL internet.

USB drive recognized but cannot see files in Window 7 Pro
I installed a Seagate SATA 3.5" drive in this enclosure I got from Best Buy last night and attached it to my MacBook Air running Windows 7 using Parallels. The drive is visible in the Device Manager but when selecting it, one cannot see any files. Any thoughts?
Off the top of my head, I'm thinking this is a drive format problem. Macs use OS X (Journaled) drives formatted with the GUID partition table, and recent Windows computers use drives formatted as NTFS.
Mac OS X reads, but does not natively write, to NTFS drives. Windows neither reads nor writes to OS X (Journaled) drives, which is probably why Windows is not reading that drive.
Repartiton the drive (you can do it in Disk Utility on your Mac). With the drive connected, open Disk Utility. Select the drive in the column on the left, then click on the Partition tab. In the main part of the window, change the popup menu that says Current to 1 (or as many partitions as you want), then click the Options… button. Select Master Boot Record in the new window, then click OK. Back in the main window, change the Format menu to MS-DOS (FAT). Click the Apply button. Be aware that this will erase everything on the drive, but reformat it in such a way that it will be readable and writable in both OS X and Windows.

Jumper settings
I'am installing a western Digital drive in your enclosure DX-hd303513. What are the jumper settings for the drive to make it operate as a slave drive?
Master and slave only applies to hard drives that conned to the logic board via parallel ATA (PATA or old style ATA or IDE). They don't apply to drives installed in an external enclosure. When you install a drive into an external enclosure, it must be set as a master or standalone drive…that's required by the drive interface in most enclosures. Then the drive connects to the logic board via USB, FireWire, or eSATA…none of which support master/slave configurations. So just install the drive into the enclosure and plug it in…it should show up among the other drives connected to your computer.
