I really don't like the idea of needing additional protection beyond the warranty. But, on a HI-Def TV I felt it was best to buy it. The sale rep told me that Best Buy had recently lowered the price of their service plans and it did seem reasonable for five years. Even consumer articles are recommending a protection plan of new TV's with the expense and hassle of getting them repaired under warranty.
I was told that to have LG repair it under warranty if needed be sent to them. If it's true of not, I have read that some plans do require you to ship it to them. A TV is too much trouble to attempt this with. In the last 8 years of flat screen ownership I've only needed 1 repair. It was in the last month of the first warranty I'd purchased and was a good experience.

I purchased this LG 65" 4K TV because I needed a replacement for an older Samsung I'd given away. 4K is the future and all I've heard and read is that more content is just around the corner. I was also interested in 240kz vs 120 or less hz. There is plenty of confusing conversations about this subject. I decided to buy this one based on reviews and that for a few hundred more I would get the 240hz. Even though I don't have 4K shows yet on my Direct TV, I can tell a difference in the regular broadcasts. The color is deeper and on some shows you get more of a sense of picture depth than I'd had on my 1080P hi-def Samsung. I will search for some internet 4K programs and wait for programming to begin to appear. I'm happy with this TV and would buy it again and recommend it.
