hi, active means that the Subwoofer has its own power cord that plugs into your wall outlet. look on back of subwoofer, there should be an what is called a RCA plug, you connect one wire to there and to your subwoofer out on the back of your reciever

anybody have the lg eg9600 series

Wondering if you can get HDR via HDMI on the eg9600 series .... with firmware upgrade I can stream but wondering if any one has tested 4k blu ray player to see if they get HDR. Mixed results online about it.

you better check with LG, have them answer your question. but unless your tv is HDR, it will not play the new 4K HDR movies

I did not know this either until I actually received it. when I was looking the box over, it said it is also 3D.

Will it work without hdr?

My TV does not have hdr. It's a Vizio m60. So does that mean it's pointless to buy this player? Will it work without it and still play 4k movies?

in a way, yes it will be pointless. because the new 4K movies have HDR and they will not play unless you have an HDR tv.
I have this hooked up to my new Sony 630D 65 inch 4K HDR and the pictures on my screen is incredible, I had that same m60 you have and gave to my daughter

Will this work with a sony xbr-55x850c and also will it work with sony 2.1-channel soundbar htct380 not sure it will pass threw sound bar

in reality, you do not need to pass through your soundbar, just hook up your soundbar directly to your tv using an Optical output.

as for your 850c, yes, however, do not buy any 4K movies if they have the HDR name on it, your tv is not HDR compatible and the 4K HDR movies will not play...
