Does the Fitbit - Surge sizes large and small have all the same features or are they different?
The features are the same. It is just different sizes for different size wrists.

Is there an "Airplane Mode" setting for this watch?
Is there a capability to turn off the WiFi or Bluetooth features while using the watch? I don't want it constantly pinging while I am wearing the watch.
Unless you have it set on any of the features, it just works like a watch except that it silently tracks you calories burned, steps taken, floors climbed and your heartrate. It does not make any noise at all. It does vibrate if you get 10,000 steps or you get a text message. I am sure you can turn the text message alert off.

does the watch keep track of total calories burned and highest and lowest heartrate?
It does keep track of the calories burned per day. When you sync it to your phone it gives details about the heartrate during the day, calories burned, any exercise. It is a great tool for the active person. I love mine.

I know it will time a run or bike. As a coach will I have ability to easily stop - start or set tabatas?
It does have a stop watch feature. I have never used it.

Fitbit Surge Waterproof?
I have a Garmin Fenix watch that is 100% waterproof. I am considering getting the Fitbit Surge in Black with GPS. My concern that is is not waterproof and nor water resistant. I do a lot of Kayaking and my watch does get wet. Please advise. Thanks, Ed K
I have the Fitbit Surge and love it for tracking my daily exercise and monitoring my heartrate. It says it is water resistant against rain, sweat and splashing. It is NOT waterproof. I do not think it is the right type of watch for a sport that might get it really wet.
