I was extremely hesitant to buy this soundbar for two reasons: Price and DTS Compatibility. Prior to my purchase, I had a Denon X1100 Receiver with Polk Bookshelf Speakers, Polk Center Speaker, and Energy Take Classic for the Upper Front, Upper Rear, and Subwoofer Channel. However, my existing system was installed in my man-cave that had all the speaker wiring in the walls and I was getting ready to move into a new condo that was smaller and didn't have room for the big Polk center channel under the TV (TV will be hung above mantel). I also didn't want to run wires all around my new living room. After a lot of research, I decided that I wanted the best possible soundbar to compete with my existing 7.1 setup with minimal wiring and footprint. In the end, it came down to the Sonos Soundbar + Subwoofer + Surrounds versus the Samsung HW-K950 that came with everything in a single package. I decided on the Samsung over Sonos for a few reasons:
1. Cheaper
2. Both systems lack DTS so no advantage or disavantage over Sonos
3. Performance - I was blown away by the power that this system provides

While the Sonos would have allowed me to set up more speakers throughout my new condo for multi-room audio capability, I decided that the Samsung had better living room performance which was the most important aspect. It turns out that Samsung also has multi-room capability but I will probably buy some in-ceiling speakers down the road and hook them up to my Denon Receiver using the pre-wired in-ceiling system for music throughout my condo. So far, I have enjoyed the audio from the Samsung HW-K950 for gaming, movies, TV, and music in the living room. However, I have yet to buy a 4K blu-ray player with a Dolby Atmos movie to get a true Dolby Atmos performance. I'm sure this system will be even better once the technology becomes more prominent. Also, it would be great if Samsung released a software/firmware update for DTS compatibility. This would make this system a no brainer to purchase.

My boss's 3 year old laptop was starting to run slow and swapping the mechanical 5400 RPM hard drive for this Sandisk SSD made a night and day difference. The computer now starts up in a fraction of the time it used to and it didn't feel like the computer was always crashing when trying to start applications. If your computer doesn't already have an SSD, it is definitely worth the upgrade.

After a long wait, guitar hero is finally out for current gen gaming consoles. It is very different than all of the other guitar heroes. They removed all of the other instruments and kept this game solely to guitars and microphone. The guitars themselves are also very different with two rows of three frets which means that there is learning to be done for even the best of guitar hero experts. It does take time to get used to but it's nice having some change instead of the old boring five frets. However, I do miss the original five frets. This game is also not compatible with last gen controllers which means more money spent for all new guitars.

The wait is over! After reminiscing over Battlefront 2, a new version is available for current generation game consoles. Unfortunately, this isn't the best game as there really isn't a mission storyline and online play isn't fully developed yet. Similar to the previous Rock Bands, Rock Band 4 meets my expectations for what I wanted out of a band game for the current gen systems. Not only was I able to use my guitars from my PS3 version of rock band 1, there was plenty of DLC for all the best songs perfect for parties to sing and play along to. I really enjoy the backwards compatibility with the previous gen rock bands and I especially enjoy not having to keep my PS3 around anymore. Get this game if you love rock band and have already switched to current gen consoles!

After owning many Linksys routers in the past and then using the Actiontec routers supplied by Verizon Fios for most of my existence, I decided to buy the AirPort Extreme due to it's Wireless AC capabilities. Knowing that a lot of the things I currently own and things I will be acquiring in the near future will be using the Wireless AC standard I decided to make the purchase because there's no way Verizon is going to supply me with such technology. my iMac and my 4K tv both utilize the Wireless AC capabilities and connection speeds are quick without interruption. After owning the 2nd generation, 3rd generation, and the iPad Air, I have gone through many cases and covers and I always end up using the Apple branded covers. While this cover isn't as great of a design as the second gen leather cover due to its three sided triangle as opposed to a more stable 4, the cover does a great job with protecting the screen when the iPad isn't in use and is able to stand up the iPad when needed. The product is fairly durable and is still as bright as the day I bought it. Another nice feature is the microfiber backing which cleans the screen when attached.

Great Receiver with many features

After owning various Home Theater setups where everything comes in a box I decided to spend a little extra money and buy speakers separately from a receiver. I knew that I was planning on spending a bunch of money on a large 4K tv and I wanted great audio to complete the home theater experience. After deciding on Energy Take Classic 5.1 Speakers, I began looking at receivers and was planning on going with a Sony receiver. However, after doing some research and talking to some of the Magnolia employees, I ended up walking out with this Denon AVR-X1100w. The reason why I chose this is because while it is one of Denon's cheapest receivers, the brand is very well known and the receiver has all the features a higher end Sony or Onkyo would have. I like to think of Denon as the Infiniti's, Acura's, and Lexus's and the Sony's and Onkyo's as the Toyota, Honda's, and Nissan's. You can't go wrong with this receiver! The audio quality is superb and supplies plenty of power to the speakers. The surround sound is phenomenal and I feel like I am surrounded when watching movies or playing video games. Remember, a good home theater system needs both good speakers AND a good receiver!

The Apple TV is hands down the best accessory for any Apple user like myself. Everyone in my family currently owns an iPhone and some version of the iPad and I also have a MacBook Pro and an iMac. The Apple TV allows me to mirror any screen from any of my devices to my tv as well as airplay for music and videos. Being a subscriber of iTunes Match also gives me access to my entire music library in the cloud right from my Apple TV. The Apple TV is also great for people who don't have a Smart TV with built in apps. This way, you can watch you favorite movies and TV shows on Netflix, Hulu, etc. I have now purchased three of these devices and have them on every single TV in the house! Everybody with Apple products should have this device.
