A Few Design Flaws but a Useable Laptop

The keyboard keys placement is not at all optimal. In hitting the Shift Key, those with smaller hands will hit the navigation keys instead. One is tethered to using the Fn key to use actual Function Keys when the Fn key should be supplemental and not primary in its use. As well, there are only two (2) usb ports, whereas most of the laptops I have used have three (3). The laptop has a terrible battery life--requiring recharge at the most inopportune moments; resulting in work loss when the system ultimately shuts down--before reaching a suitable outlet to recharge. It doesn't work well with Chrome, as Chrome takes a good deal of RAM resources. Unfortunately, 4Gb, on this system, represents quite a challenge for this pc as a result. As for the price, it is a very good selling point. I now understand the price. I would only recommend it to someone interested in saving money for the price or for someone not wishing to throw money away on a better laptop for the youngster that may be careless and less careful with its use.

With amplified antennas, not only am I spending money on electricity, but I am losing channels in the process. My rabbit ears work better than amplified antennas. The Mohu is not amplifed. It takes absolutely no electricity. It can be mounted anywhere. With my lucky rabbit ear antennas, I was able to get an easy 77 crystal clear channels. The Mohu blows that out of the park with a resounding "88" brilliant, crystal clear channels. Imagine what it can do for anyone else. I have now used it for every television in my home. I don't let anyone I see, even in passing, buy anything else. I am converting all of my cable crazy friends to try DTV with this antenna instead. Those that have, not only have more money, but love the brilliance of their clear choices of programming.

I don't wish to bash the product itself, as, at this juncture, my urban neighborhood is going through major construction (two large-scale condominium units just yards away). As such, this may have a profound, pronounced affect upon the performance of: my internet, tv, cellular phone and home phone, etc.. I did not get any better internet reception after purchase of this product and continue to have spotty internet throughout my home, inclusive of "dead spots."

Unintelligent Design in Every Way

The most poorly designed item ever. The power button and major function controls are under the television--not smart. The hdmi, usb, cables for sound, peripheral hookups are all at the back. If one wants truly flat screen mounting--the position of these items is not paramount. It would have been intelligent to place these items on the side(s) of the tv to insure unobstructed flat screen mounting.
The television settings are extremely convoluted. Even choosing favorite channels is overwhelming and unnecessary. Again, too much for such a simple function.
The buttons on the remote are even poorly placed. It requires two hands if one wishes to quickly make choices. The enter button is at the bottom of the remote instead of being centrally placed within the middle where it would best be served for the consumer.
The screen mirroring function absolutely does not work with Windows or any android devices as it should. Samsung offers such poor support, they don't even acknowledge that the smart tv is supposed to function with Windows 8.1 and/or android OS. I was forced to go to YouTube to find out how to actually mirror the device through a PC, tablet or other devices. Again, Samsung was not helpful at all. If you wish to make the device's mirroring function work, the user is forced to use an hdmi hookup absent the SmartTV actually working as it should.
Further still, Samsung doesn't make its mirroring app readily available to the user as other smarttv designers have done so. LG, Sharp, etc. all make their app for the screen mirroring and remote control functions easy to find and use--online. Even Roku has a fully functioning app for the end-user to enjoy all of the functionality of its device. Not the case with Samsung. Basically, a lot of sound and furry, signifying nothing. Next time, I will rethink and further research.
Finally, the sound quality is so poor, the television has to be turned up as loud as humanly possible to hear it. I assume that this is to force the consumer to purchase a sound bar to facilitate true sound. Sad.

will antennas work in rural areas,in the country?
I think that the Mohu Metro Leaf will definitely work much better than any amplifieday and/or rabbit ear antennas. At such a small price, it is definitely worth the try. With BestBuy's excellent customer service and return policy, you can not go wrong.

what kind of indoor antenna is good for the old box tv.
i have an old box TV and i can`t get any clear channels with the antenna i`m using?
I also have an old analog TV in my home. I purchased a digital converter box that was greatly reduced with a $40 government credit when it was announced that all analog television programming would become digital around eight years ago. That government program no longer exists, but you can still purchase a digital converter box and an antenna (I absolutely recommend Mohu). My recommendation is a Digital Stream digital converter box (RadioShack is where I got mine, try Amazon or EBAY now). Yes, it will definitely work with the Mohu Antenna. You will be extremely pleased.

Is it possible to use a Slingbox M1 or M2 without a cable or satellite provider? I simply wish to watch local TV stations remotely.
You can simply use this antenna. It gets all of your local broadcast channels, as they are still free to all who prefer this option over cable.

How do I get local channels on my TV
Simply install the antenna as instructed. Once installed, use your tv's programming settings to broadcast "air". Don't use cable. Once you have selected air as your antenna setting, allow your tv to scan. It will list (according to your tv) all the channels it has acquired. You can and should continuously reposition the antenna and rescan until you receive your desired results. (I personally used suction cups to mount the antenna on walls, windows, etc. This allowed me endless possibilities for mounting and moving the antenna.)

can I use my mp3 player as a power supply. it will not hold charge
The biggest concern is whether or not the fittings are compatible. As long as this is the case, it should logically provide your device with a full charge as if the device was plugged into an outlet to be fully charged. Mind you, you will have to keep plugging the power bank in and recharging it if the device is not able to be powered by any other means.

I don't see why it should not. Most of your cell phones and related devices, with the exception of Apple and Apple-related products use the same hardware. As long as this is the case with the Alcatel Note, there should be absolutely no problem. You will be thoroughly satisfied.

Does Netflix come w/ user profiles?
On my phone & computer, I can watch Netflix & choose my profile out of my family's Netflix account. Is this possible on this TV?
You have to sign onto Netflix as you would normally. It is not free, unless you are using the 30-day trial subscription which must be paid for thereafter.

Can you get the app for Right Now Media on this TV?
As your question suggests: you are an Apple product user. I would suggest that you try the "AllCast App" instead. Samsung can be a bit iffy, and Samsung, like Apple, is very proprietary and doesn't play nicely with others.

How wide a platform is required to set the tv stand/feet on?
These two "feet" that the tv stands on look pretty puny. I prefer a more solid base. What width to I need to account for to set the tv on the platform? I see the total width is 29.2, but the feet are slightly shorter than that.
You would require a platform at least the bottom width of the tv, as the stand is actually feet only for the bottom left and right of the tv and doesn't cover the tv bottom in its entirety. Sounds dumb, but so is placing the tv controls at the base (bottom of the tv) and all of the inputs in the back. This means it is not optimal for the flattest mount possible because all of the inputs stick out of the back.

You can use the USB on the back for external peripherals, i.e. headphones.
