By itself, my TV was amazingly good, so much that I didn't feel a strong need for improvement. But all the press news suggests this will probably be the only/last chance for this type of upgrade. So I went for it. Unfortunately my first one had wifi problems. The second one has been fine, and thanks to BB for being cooperative about the replacement!
I'm only giving 4 stars because there are significant firmware glitches that should have been avoidable. But there is definitely a picture quality improvement and the 3d seems much more refined. That's what this is all about, so it's a success. If you've got a TV that's more than a year old, I'd think the benefits would be even more significant, including connectivity you didn't have before.

Does device allow hdr playback in 60 inch hu8550 tv.

At the end of the day, what you seek from HDR is a picture quality improvement. Will you get the most HDR could theoretically offer? Maybe not. Will you see an improvement? My experience and the other reviews I've seen say you most likely will see a very noticeable improvement. Evidence suggests the benefit is possible whether your panel is 8b or 10b, and as far as I've read, hu8550s come with both types. If you do a thorough search, you'll find ways to determine which kind of panel you have.
If money isn't a consideration, you can probably get better HDR with the new models about to show up, but you may have to give up 3d, if you care.
