Love/Hate Relationship

I bought this phone because I had to turn in my Note 7 and didn't want to go back to Samsung. I also didn't want an LG or HTC so that limited my options for phones. I started looking into unlocked phones from ZTE, Asus and OnePlus. I settled on a ZTE Axon 7 mainly because the other phones were sold out and temporarily unavailable, plus it had good reviews. Best Buy had this in stock so I jumped at it.
I really want to love this phone but it has little quirks that drive me nuts. When it first arrived, whoever packaged it at Best Buy didn't inflate the air pillow packing material so the phone probably bounced around a lot and I'm wondering if it took some internal damage. When I first powered it up, it took me over half an hour just to get it on my WiFi so I could perform an update because the on-screen keyboard didn't capture keystrokes properly. After I got it updated and installed my apps, the phone kept thinking a wired headset was connected so I couldn't get any sound from the built-in speakers and anytime I tried to install a widget, the phone would crash. I had to factory reset it once again. It worked a lot better but the wired headset icon still occasionally appears forcing me to restart the phone so I can hear sound through the phone's speakers. Also, it periodically shuts itself off or reboots.
When it works, it runs great and actually seems faster than my Note 7. However, I really wish I had waited for a Zenfone 3 Deluxe to become available. My daughter received hers in early November and loves it. She's had zero problems. I regret buying this phone.

After less than a year, it failed. Fortunately, it's still under the manufacturer's warranty, but I'm not sure I'll buy a Whirlpool product again. If you do want to buy this, make sure you get an extended warranty.
