If you like collecting film scores / soundtracks of modern movies this one is rather typical of some great orchestrations that set the mood and tone for the scenes. The purchase also includes not just scene set up music but also songs that were used within the movie - a nice touch if not a bonus.
For CD quality, it is very nicely done and well engineered. As someone who prefers higher quality audio (96/24 or better as opposed to CD quality), it does indeed show craft and the results at CD quality are excellent.
The price is right for this to add to any collection. My collection of film score / sound tracks is growing and I still remain selective. If you like getting into this venue of music - you may find it in good company with movies such as - Pan's Labyrinth, Chronicles of Narnia, and more.
The additional songs included are a treat as it takes you through various eras presented in the movie and is fun. If you are all about pop music, you will if your mind is open get to enjoy what was "pop" back then. - A nice contrast and compare.

What's great about it: Filmscore is great, the additional "songs" a nice bonus
What's not so great: No problems other than wish it was a Super CD or better

A.I. is a blend of old school story telling and a more modern world issue of the struggle of the basic notions of the human condition and that of innocence. Without ruining the story for others, it is a story of a android boy and his quest to be loved. The greater story reflects how man's humanity has gotten lost through the world we have created.
A.I. is a story that should appeal to younger age viewers and adults. It is not a typical fantasy story or sci-fi. It is a story about love, the need to be loved and the sacrifices made through life's journey of one little boy who just happens to be an android.
The original filming of this movie is somewhat stylized and while it transfers reasonably well to DVD, it almost 'suffers' when brought to blu-ray as that hi rez goodness doesn't add much to the presentation of 1080p due to the nature of the original filming. However, this should not deter anyone from getting this well crafted humanist story. The audio is excellent and there is just a slightly better nuance to the visuals than the DVD version. Overall, it is not eye candy like some other movies (Lord of the Rings trilogy comes to mind) but certainly is not distracting either.
The movie itself is usually a love it or hate it movie. I find those that love it are less about being entertained and find the story a reminder of our own struggles and the human condition itself. Those that did not like it found the ending to be somewhat trite and preferred a less low key and melancholia nature to the film.
I am gad with my purchase and most likely will purchase for a couple of friends of mine who enjoyed watching it at my place and remarked they never seen a movie quite like this and they thoroughly enjoyed it. No one commented on the less than stellar look of the movie in blu ray.

What's great about it: Unafraid to address the human condition
What's not so great: Transfer is not as crisp due to original filming
