Useful but average in implementation

I wanted better than mouse performance for various photo processing tasks and art in general. A tablet is a must-have. I have not tried others but did some initial research. This was a good price.
Summary:
- Hope it gets MUCH better Haven't tried pricier units.

Best suggestion: Unplug your mouse for 3 days and go tablet alone
Fact: not going back to mouse and am still using the tablet for everything.
Tablet:
The tablet itself is small - too small for me. My hand falls off it at the edges of the screen - at the worst time and often with bad results and correction needed.
Extra surface surrounding the active plate would have been nice. Dragging past the edge with the hand suddenly in awkward position straddling pad and table surface and altering pen position can be disruptive when one is concentrating and involved.
The dialog boxes and panels for configuration are just plain clunky.

The four corner buttons - 2 each at the top left and right are inexplicable.
Maybe we didn't know what to do and it sounded like a good idea at the time?
Now, reach across your pen hand to get to the button not on the free hand side.

Good alternative to NO WiFi

I use an Olympus OM-D E-M5 that does not have wireless capability and shoot RAW+JPG. I used to have to copy the card to my computer and send the JPG to m phone (typically via Goggle Photos). Now JPGs get sent to my phone automatically. I do not have need for the RAW. on my phone. So far, so good (one month of use.) I have not noticed any really significant delay slow down or delay in sfile write - the Oly is slow anyway. The one thing I would like to set correctly is the geotag feature - that has not happened even though that option i selected. Now I have de-selected the option below it to "Update location less frequently - to save battery-) and set it to off.
I will see if that helps. Otherwise, it's business as usual but with immediate transfer to my phone which is nice.

Portable charger works pretty well. I've had occasions to use it and it has worked. However, it loses its charge far too fast to be trustworthy. I don't believe you'd much left after 24 hours of non-use. I keep it in my car and charge it when my phone is not in need..

Yet another flaky offering from Microsoft where the customer is the tester. Obviously they didn't spend much in testing this strange Win8 look-alike that doesn't remember its settings from one update to the next.

Decent but overhyped

Bought this unit to use with Photoshop/Lightroom processing.
It's a good machine, solid, well built with a few annoyances:
1. Windows 8.1 -- want i7 to run line an i5? yep.
2. The screen has a noticeable refresh every so many minutes - the thing literally blinks. I suspect it's a driver issue but not yet sure
3. The back-lit keyboard is impressive... but the function key markings are TOO SMALL.can barely read them.
4. Windows 10 upgrade went well, but did nothing to alleviate the "blink" but does run quite a bit faster.
5. Not all the memory is changeable. First 8 GB are fixed. Load up, though. it needs it. And they made it easy to add.
6. Love the USB 3.0 ports. Nice touch!
7. Disk drive is not the fastest but there is an extra drive bay for an SSD or extra storage of your choice - Yes!!!
All in all nice machine. Heavy as a tank - you won't be taking it backpacking. but it's a great desk machine with a nice wide screen and nice features. It's beefy, fast and responsive when the OS doesn't get in the way. My Linux VM does fantastic.

The Intuos tablet is ~ 6-1/2 inch by 8-1/4 and roughly 1/4 inch thick.

A Different Pen
Would a tablet pen with an eraser work on this tablet?
My understanding is YES. But cannot confirm as I have not tried it yet. Will be upgrading my pen in the future.

Do you sell the pen separate? I lost the one
I understand pens are available separately from Wacom. I am looking to upgrade mine in the near future. As well there may be pens from other manufacturers - but not sure.

Just as well. it would have been worse quality at this price.
My suggestion is to investigate and buy a replacement pen later. That is what I will do.

second hard drive screws not align
I tried to install a second 2.5 hard drive on the second hard drive bay. I unscrewed the plate that would attach the hard drive to the bay. First I attach and screwed the hard drive to the plate, then screw back the plate with the hard drive back to the extra bay. My concern is the screw hole on the plate is not align to the hole when the hard drive is attach to the plate. What I did is I unscrewed the hard drive from the plate, I plug the hard drive without screws to the plate, I screwed the plate back as a cover not screwed to the hard drive. I need opinion to those who have added an extra hard drive.. is this normal or defect? thank you in advance
Happens, it seems. Had it happen on my Sony Vaio and now on my ASUS ROG. I let them run anyway. Just don't jolt your machine too much or use a piece of foam to keep it in place. All resolved when drive was replaced with SSD - much lghter and no spinning.

Can I install DDR3 in the RAM slots?
Hey what is up guys, I was wondering, can I install (2 x 8G) RAM memory DDR3 or they have to be DDR3L? Because I've heard that if you want to expand your RAM in this laptop you must upgrade to DDR3L, and what would happen if I install DDR3? Because honestly I would not like to spend more money on them... anyways THANK YOU GUYS, I TRULY APRECIATE IT!:)
You did not specify a model, so the asnwer may have to be generic for now. DDR3L is a special type of DDR3 RAM where L refers to low voltage standard. DDR3 uses 1.5V; DDR3L uses 1,35V. I am concluding that if your lap is designed for 1.35V it may not be able to fully power a chip expecting 1.5V and, therefore cause you issues. You may have to find out from the manual, or the manufacturer (or reputable source0 if this is true. I installed vanilla DDR3 on my ROG.

I have a Toshiba laptop, windows 8.1 & has web root installed. web root came with the laptop when I purchased it.
Their literature does not specify.
