If you don't have the cash for the expensive prime "L" lenses, then this is a must have for 85mm. It takes perfect portraits. On a crop sensor, it is a tight shot for most indoor locations though.

On the side of the box, it says it works with a Rebel T3i, so I don't see why it wouldn't work with a T3. This is just my guess though. I works with my T5i and it isn't listed on the side of the box. I hope this helps.
