Keeps getting better!

I've been a big Bose fan forever owning a couple of headphones and TV soundbar. I currently have a Bluetooth Soundlink Mini that goes with me everywhere. The sound is amazing and it will fill an entire room. My only knock was that the sound is directional. Sound from behind was not as crisp and clear as in front. Not a huge problem but it works like most speakers delivering sound out in front.
Now Bose kicks it up a notch with a great evolution of bluetooth speakers with the Soundlink Revolve! The Revolve is a rechargable vertical conical bluetooth speaker that delivers sound 360° around the speaker. It truly fills a room with great sound that you would expect from Bose.
Pairing was simple and I was playing music in a matter of seconds. There are 6 buttons on top of the speaker: Power, Bluetooth, Aux input switch, Up Volume, Down Volume and Multifunction (which allows you to start, pause, next track, last track, and a mic button that you can use Siri). According to the instructions it's also NFC capable which since I'm connecting with an iPhone I can't test.
There is an optional charging cradle that adds convenience to charging by setting the Revolve on the cradle rather than plugging in the speaker directly through a micro USB connection. I would suggest taking care when setting the Revolve on the cradle as I apparently accidentally touched the wrong contacts between the speaker and cradle and the speaker started emmitting a loud hum that I had to power off the speaker to get it to stop. Other than that everything works perfectly!
The Soundlink Revolve replaces my Soundlink Mini in my backpack when I travel. Hats off to Bose for yet another great sound product!

Dyson! Cordless! What's not to love?
I was looking for a new vacuum for spot cleanups to replace my long dead Dust Buster. I needed something that would handle throw rugs and also work on quick clean ups for my cars. I got a little more than 6 minutes on MAX setting but recommend that you run it in NORMAL mode to save the battery.
I've got two dogs that shed (alot). So I always have hair drifts and fuzzy rugs so the V7 did the trick there. Using the motorhead it grabbed a bunch of hair off the rugs.
For quick touch-ups on throw rugs, pet hair and litter box spills the V7 will do the trick but don't expect to vacuum more than a room of carpet at a time.
It's light weight so using it to reach the tops of curtains is a nice feature. I am impressed with the build quality of Dyson products and that it comes with a wall mounted charging dock that holds the upholstery brush and crevice tools. Since it's cordless it would have been a great feature if Dyson would make the batteries removable so you can order and extra and have it charged for backup when the battery in the unit dies... and it will... abruptly.
I think the price point for the V7 is on the steep side, even for Dyson. $400 is a bit much for a vacuum that is more as a spot use backup than a daily use machine.
All in all its a great vacuum but the price point is wrong for what it is. $199 would be a much better value.

Amazing! Love JBL!

This is one of those times when you say "how did they do that?". Bluetooth earbuds with only a small controller on one side? Where's the battery? Seriously though JBL and Under Armour nailed it with these earbuds.
The earbuds come with 5 pairs of ear tips and 3 pairs of ear plugs so you can get the right fit and once twisted in place they are guaranteed not to fall out. I haven't used them in a workout yet but I agree that the fitment is solid in your ear. Once you get the fit right they are extremely comfortable
The cord is long enough to not tangle with your clothing but also plenty of movement room. The cable has a small clip so you can attach it to your clothes so you can pull them from your ear and let them dangle until you need them again. The in-line controller is small enough to not be intrusive but big enough for you to use the buttons without having fat-finger complex.
Battery life is surprisingly good. Advertised at 8 hours I never had them run out of juice yet. I use them at work and typically listen for about 4 hours during the day and put them on a charge after each day. But still, for a small form factor the battery life is amazing.
Now to the important stuff... sound is incredible. I own a couple of JBL/Harmon headphones and even a JBL subwoofer/amp combo for my car. The sound is rich with great range, definitely no tinny sound coming out of these bad boys.
In the box there is also a micro-USB charging cable and a great carrying pouch (although I wish it was a bit stiffer and would zip open a little more).
An added bonus is a voucher for year subscription to MapMyRun Premium membership.
They are priced well considering comparable products. Worth the money especially if you are looking for workout earbuds.

I was in the market to replace my old Black and Decker blender. It was at last 6 years old and having difficulty making a decent smoothie. When I saw the Ninja blender with Auto-iq I knew it would be a great replacement. My primary use is for smoothies and it does a great job of breaking down the ice into a perfect consistency. I especially like the Auto-iq where you select what type of blend you want and then press Auto-iq and the blender will pulse and pause automatically so that the contents can settle before automatically restarting. The count down digital display will tell you at a glance how much time is left for your blend.
The Ninja comes with the standard pitcher like a normal blender but it also has 3 smoothie cups (1 medium sized and 2 large) and 3 screw on caps with flip open drinking spouts. I especially like the smoothie glasses so I'm not having to clean the big pitcher every time. And they are perfect size for on the go.
The only small knock I can give it is that it is tall and doesn't fit under my cupboard with the pitcher attached. It just means I'll have to find another permanent spot for it or move it out from under the cupboard whenever I want to use it. This is only a very slight inconvenience.
I can't wait to explore the other features of the Ninja but for what I use blenders for it's perfect.

When I travel I usually leave the Apple Watch at home because I already carry enough junk in my bag, a portable hard drive with cable, portable power pack and cable, iPhone sync/charge cable and cube. So adding the watch charging base just wasn't desirable.
I thought "why doesn't someone come out with a portable power pack with a built in Apple Watch base? Well surprise, surprise, Belkin did just that with their Valet Charger Power Pack.
It's a slick 6700 mAh pack with a built in Apple Watch magnetic charging puck and the usual USB port to charge your iPhone. Output is only 1 amp to the USB and 1 amp to the Apple Watch so forget about charging any kind of tablet.
There should be enough power to charge your iPhone 3 times and watch 8 times from a full charge but I haven't had the unit long enough to test number of charges and charging times. I expect at 1 amp the recharge wouldn't be that quick. Size is not bad coming in just under 1" thick, 1 3/4" wide and 4 3/4" long.

Quick and easy photo organizer and editor

My picture editing needs are simple. I have been using Picasa for a few years and it did a good enough job but at times I wanted to do more with my pictures. I don't want the learning curve of more professional programs like Photoshop. For people like me Photoshop Elements does the trick for quick and easy edits.
The biggest plus with Elements is the guided edits with step by step instructions on how to achieve the results you desire. The basics are there: Color correction, tilt correction, cropping, and resizing along with some fun editing tools like picture stacking, speed effect, reflections and even panoramic photo stitching. And of course there are tools to change your photos into ones that look decades old.

I installed Elements on my Windows 10 desktop. When installing the applications you have the option of purchasing Premier Elements which includes a video editor or can simply install the trial version to see if if fits your needs.
I found Elements very easy to use and it's now my go to program for quick and easy photo editing.

Google rethinks your home

Google tossed their hat into the home assistant market by harnessing Google Now in a home hub device. Google Home is aiming at Amazon's Echo but they have a long way to go to catch up but if you already have an Android phone or tablet then the Google Home would be a natural fit as a home hub.
You can control a Chromecast if you use one to stream programming to a TV where the Echo can control a Fire TV. It also has the ability to control Philips' hue lighting. If you have a Youtube, Pandora, Spotify or Google Play account it can stream music from your playlists. Knowing Google the Home will be adding more connectivity as time goes on.
Out of the box I intially had issues getting Google Home to set-up correctly. I installed the iOS App on my iPhone 7. The connection between the phone and the Home is pretty slow. In addition the Home couldn't recognize my Nest thermostat (shocker since it's another Google device). I eventually had to do a reset of the Home and start setup again until if finally connected and found the Nest.
I've had an Amazon Echo since they first came out (Amazon offered significant discounts to Prime members before it's release). Basic commands have similar results. I do get a lot less false commands with the Google Home. It uses "Okay Google" where the Echo uses "Alexa". You'd be surprised how many false commands I get from the Echo hearing the TV with some dialog close enough to "Alexa". So "Okay Google" is a lot more deliberate to wake up the device with less false commands.
The Google Home is feature packed and as the device matures I look forward seeing what it can do. So if you are looking for a home hub device it's a toss up between the Echo and the Home. If you use an Android phone or tablet I'd definitely pick the Home over the Echo.

Great performance upgrade

I replaced a Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi router with the new Linksys WRT AC3200 MU-MIMO arouter hoping to pick up some additional speed in data transfer.
Installation was quick and easy, especially since I already had a router. Just unplug the old and plug in the new. Setup of the router was easy. I opened my favorite browser, typed in the generic 192.168.1.1 to access the control panel. It had a step by step setup wizard that allowed me to get up and running quickly. I especially like the editable network map. The map allows you to quickly see what devices you have connected to your network all on one page and it has filters to allow you to see just LAN, 2.4gHz and/or 5gHz connections. When you right mouse click on a connected device and click on "Device Info" it displays the name, IP address and MAC address. You can edit the name of the device on this screen as well, naming it something that makes since to you... like "nVidia Shield" instead of "Android-034145354234".
You can also connect external storage directly to the router for a home network NAS (untested since I don't have a NAS device to connect).
I'm connected to Comcast high speed internet. Before switching I ran speedtest.net and download speed was about 120-130Mbps and after switching I'm getting over 150-180Mbps depending on time of day and pinged server and that's with 19 devices connected to the router.
I can definitely recommend this router especially if you've got an older Wi-Fi router and do online gaming. You should see significant speed increases especially if you connect to the 5gHz channel.

I've been a big Bose fan for a long time having owned several pair of noise reduction and noise cancelling headphones over the years along with a Soundlink Mini Bluetooth speaker and one of their HDTV sound bars. I've always been impressed with the build quality, ruggedness, and quality of sound produced by their devices. I've been wanting to tray a set of earbuds for a long time but couldn't justify spending the money since I already own Quietcomfort headphones as my roadwarrior gear.
Bose recently released the QuietControl 30 Bluetooth in-ear buds and they continue to impress! In the box you get the headphones, two extra sets of earpieces to custom taylor the fit, charging cable (USB micro) and a firm shell carrying case.
The headphones have a rubberized base collar that houses the electronics with the each earbud connected with about 8 inches of cord. The collar has some flex in it so it's easy to place around the neck. The right cord has the sound controls which not only controls volume but also track control and even noice cancelling level. The collar has a charging port that will take a USB micro cable (included but does not come with a charger block). When not in use the charging port does have a captive rubber plug to keep moisture out. The collar also has the power button and two small LED lights to indicate that it's powered on and that Bluetooth is in discovery mode.
Ease of Use:
Setup was easy. The instructions have a QR code which you scan with your smartphone. Depending on flavor of phone you are directed to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store so you can download the Connect app. Launch the app and then power up the headphones. The device connection is quickly discovered and paired. Once loaded you are ready to fire up your music player. I did find that the location of the controls took some getting use to and I would inadvertently pull the bud out of my right ear trying to operate it.

The earbuds fit comfortably but for me the collar took some time to get used to. I'm sure the designers were looking for a one-size-fits-all application so it's not uncomfortable but you know it's there if you are a large person.

Final thoughts:
With a few minor tweaks (only for people with large necks) the QuietControl 30 is a must have. The more I use it the more comfortable I am with it. Great sound, great noise cancelling, great design. I'd pick it over an over the ear any day.

How are the speakers on this laptop, in terms of sound quality and volume?
The volume can be ramped up pretty high and the quality is decent. I wouldn't use it to stream music without headphones or external speakers but for game playing it is great.

NO, this is a HDMI selector switch which allows you to select between 4 devices (such as game consoles, blu-ray or DVD player, PC, etc) to a single HDMI input on a TV (or projector for that matter). How is this laptop VR ready? The oculus rift requires the minimum to be the 1050ti and htc vive requires a gtx 970 or higher. The amd websites says nothing about this being VR capable.
Not sure but I seriously doubt it at the price point.

How long is this item? I need it to fit in a 35" wide space
42" and you'll need some space on the right side to access the buttons.
