Chucky's back and he's got a wife in the horror-comedy Bride of Chucky. The film is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and looks excellent. The image features virtually no flaws (save for a small amount of edge enhancement) with colors and black levels appearing sharp and very pristine. Overall, Universal has done a very nice job on this print. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English (as well as Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in French). The film features a surprisingly aggressive sound mix that often utilizes both the front and rear speakers. With an ample amount of fidelity and dynamic range, this mix should please fans in possession of a Surround sound theater system. Also included on this disc are English and Spanish subtitles. Bride of Chucky includes a few well-produced extra features, starting with two commentary tracks -- one by director Ronny Yu and a second audio commentary with stars Jennifer Tilly, Brad Dourif, and writer Don Mancini. Both of these commentary tracks are filled with tons of production information and anecdotes about the shoot, though the cast commentary is far more lively than the director's. A short featurette titled "Spotlight on Location" is included featuring interviews with the cast and crew. This is a very fluffy piece that only lasts a few minutes. Finally there is a fictional diary by one of the characters, some production notes, and some bonus trailers.
Pediophobes beware! Universal Studios' release of the chilling horror classic Childs Play 2 finds everyone's favorite murderous doll back and thirsting for blood. Presented in it's original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and featuring an anamorphic transfer, this chilling release also offers such frightful extra features as cast and crew bios, a theatrical trailer, film highlights, production notes and weblinks. Audio is presented in both closed-captioned English Dolby Digital Surround and French Dolby Digital Surround. Optional Spanish subtitles are also offered.
Chucky the Doll is back, and he's still in a very bad mood in this second sequel to the horror hit Child's Play, which gets a better-than-average presentation for its release on DVD. Child's Play 3: Look Who's Stalking has been given a letterboxed transfer to disc at its original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1; the image has also been enhanced anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround; in addition to the original English-language soundtrack, the disc features an alternate dubbed track in French, as well as optional subtitles in French and Spanish, and closed captioning in English. No bonus materials are included.
