Ninja knows how to cut things into tiny pieces
on December 30, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
I wish I used a blender and food processor more than I do. I will definitely need to start now that I have this guy. We had a Ninja blender in the past and used it occasionally with decent results. I really like the multiple functions this one can do, though. With the food processor bowl and the cups for blending up smoothies, all with a single base, it reduces some of the clutter of needing multiple full machines hanging around the kitchen and it doesn't hurt that it does such a great job. The "Auto-iQ" boost is a nice addition that helps take some of the guess work out of getting things to blend just right.
Overall, another fine machine by the folks at Ninja. If you need something that chops a lot of stuff into tiny tiny pieces, this is your machine!

Came in handy on holiday vacation
on December 28, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
This battery pack made my holiday vacation a lot more convenient. The charger that came with my Apple Watch is inside a "dock" and attached to my night stand so it's a little bit of a hassle to remove. Instead, I just brought this battery pack with. For charging your Apple Watch exclusively, it's really great as I was able to get a few night's charges without the battery indicator even moving. If you want to fully charge your phone as well, you'll need to recharge the pack during the day as a leaving my phone plugged in at night did drain most of the battery (this isn't really a normal use case, but I wanted to test it out). The size of the pack makes it very easy to carry around with you as well.
Overall, I would recommend this battery pack to carry around with you when you need some extra power for your phone and you'll be away from your Apple Watch charger for longer than usual. Vacations are ideal.

Nice and firm toothbrush heads
on November 17, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
I've been using Sonicare tooth brushes for a long time now and I really like these new heads. They feel very firm but not so much that it hurts or anything. Hard to describe. It just feels like they're doing their job even better than the older brush heads (which I also thought did a very good job). I'd recommend these brush heads if you're looking for something new.

Another great toothbrush from Philips
on November 17, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
I've been using premium Philips Sonicare tooth brushes for a long time now and I love them. This one is even nicer than the older one it replaced. The "connected" feature, while not really necessary by any means is really cool. It guides you through brushing 6 sections of your teeth in 2 minutes and gives your prompts for doing some touchup (if it feels like you might have missed some spots) or wether you scraped your tongue, rinsed or flossed. It also keeps track of how many times it was used so you know when it's time to replace your toothbrush head. The only thing I would change about the app right now is the ability to maybe customize the brushing session a little bit. Maybe I'd rather brush for 3 minutes instead of 2. Maybe I like brushing 4 quadrants instead of 6 sections. Little things that could tweak the way you brush would be nice. Other than that, though, excellent toothbrush. My mouth feels clean when I'm done brushing.

Great sound quality. Excellent Noise Cancellation.
on October 6, 2016

If you've never used BOSE headphones before, you're in for a treat. For in-ear headphones, BOSE makes some very comfortable things that sound great. After exclusively using Apple Ear Pods for a long time because in-ear headphones hurt my ears, this set (as well as the Sound Sport) feel great in my eat and sound amazing too. I can actually hear bass in my music (which I never really heard much of with the Ear Pods)
This is the first active noise cancellation headset I've tried so I can't compare it to anything else. I used it at my gym during a relatively busy time and it did a really good job of killing all of the background noise. It's very neat to put the headphones in my ear and hear things like you'd normally expect, and then turning on the power for them and magically hearing silence.
It felt weird to sweat while wearing the neck band but it didn't appear to affect the band at all. Easy to clean up. The neck band is probably my least favorite part of these headphones as I also have a pair of Sound Sport headphones that just have a wire between them and enjoy this a lot more even if it puts a hit on the battery life.
Battery life is advertised at 10 hours and after each hour long workout, the battery reading went down about 10% so that's probably a pretty good estimate. I'd round down to 9 hours to be safe.
If you're looking for a flagship headphones and NEED the noise cancellation. These are a really good pair. If you don't need the noise cancellation, you can probably get away with the Sound Sport instead.

For a dedicated GPS, this one does a lot right
on September 12, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
In a time when everyone has a GPS in their pocket at all times, I haven't really considered a dedicated GPS unit to be very useful. If you are in the market for a dedicated unit, though, this is the one.
The thing I'm most happy about with this unit is how much it integrates with your existing phone and car stereo. You have a couple of options for connecting to your car stereo. There is an external antenna that lets you connect, wirelessly, to an FM radio station. Or you can connect the (included) passthrough cable to your aux port. You can also just use the build in speaker if you'd rather just listen to your car's radio while still being able to hear the GPS voice prompts.
The best reason to connect the GPS to your car stereo is that you can then connect your phone (via bluetooth) to the Over Dryve which let's you play any audio from your phone over your car speakers (while also still being able to hear the GPS voice over your car stereo as well) and you can even use whichever voice assistant your phone has right from the screen. You can have your text messages read back to your as well as respond to them. I think, if you own an Android phone, you have a couple of extra syncing options. I'm using an iPhone so I can't attest to that. Overall, the connection options are very nice and allow you to use some functions of your phone straight from the larger, more safely available screen of the Over Dryve. The only issue I experienced with the stereo connection was when it was connected to my AUX port and there was no audio coming from the unit, there was a buzzing sound. Not an issue when playing music or such but if you connect it to your stereo and don't intend on listening to anything, it might bother you. It could also just be an issue with my stereo.
Speaking of the screen, it's a very nice size. The entire unit is attached to the "dock" (which would probably stay attached to your windshield) via a pretty strong magnet. As long as you don't have the unit upside down (a mistake I made a couple of times) it connects to the docking unit very quickly and easily. It also makes it super easy to detach to bring with you. All of the wires also connect to the dock so if you leave everything connected in your car, you don't have to do anything but slap the actual unit up on the dock when you want to use it.
The other nice feature, I haven't tested very much but I really like it. This device has a built in dash cam. It doesn't look like it can be set to always record, but it's easy enough to access so you can probably just start up a recording any time you connect the GPS pretty easily. The camera quality looks pretty decent. I'm not certain how long it will record for, though.
So my final judgement on this is if you drive a lot (I do not), you will probably really enjoy this unit. I'm taking a couple of long distance trips by the end of the year and I intend on using this GPS for my navigation, entertainment and dash-camming needs. My phone's battery will appreciate not needing to run the screen through all of the hours I'll be driving on these trips. If you don't drive much and already have a bluetooth connection to your phone in your car, this specific unit is probably a little bit overkill for you.

Power your Apple devices with this Belkin charge dock. It comes with a Lightning connector that charges iPhones and an integrated magnetic charger that provides Apple watches with more juice when needed. The single built-in cable of this Belkin charge dock lets you charge both devices simultaneously, saving you the inconvenience of using multiple cords.

I don't understand it
on August 24, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
This dock is nice and heavy and does what it's supposed to. My only issue with it is how the watch is oriented. I don't understand why companies who are making docks for the Apple Watch don't let you place your watch on the charger sideways so the watch enters night stand mode. This is my go-to method for checking the time at night. A simple tap on my night stand will light up the watch and show me the time. So this dock won't get much use out of me for that reason. Otherwise, the build quality is good. The lightning connector is adjustable so if you have a bulky case, I assume you can adjust it to extend higher up. Everything else is pretty nice about this dock. If only there was an option to rotate the watch.

Nice for very minimal needs
on July 27, 2016

I'm writing this review FROM this very product!
Overall, my impressions with the device is that it's pretty decent for people who basically just need a web browser (which, most people probably do only need a web browser). It's not super fast but it gets the job done for checking emails, writing some documents (with Google Docs) or watching some YouTube or Netflix. If you aren't a fan of Google's services, this may not be the product for you as you'll be required to use one when you turn it on for the first time. If you use 1Password or another password manager, it's a little more inconvenient to log into your device as you can't give yourself a weaker password just for unlocking the laptop. I just keep mine unlocked. 1Password is also not available as an "app" so you'll have to switch to one of their web based solutions to have access to your passwords.
The hardware feels a lot nicer than I expected. It's plastic but it feels well put together and sturdy. My biggest complaint is that the screen is pretty small but it LOOKS even smaller because of the full inch plus of bezel on each side. It was the first thing I noticed when I turned the device on is how insane the amount of black space was around the screen. Keyboard actually feels really nice for such a small device! It feels like a full sized keyboard (and it very well might be). I'm having zero issues typing this review when my everyday, normal laptop is a MacBook Pro. The speakers are also pretty loud and sound decent.
Overall, I like this as a quick and easy web browser when I don't want to use my larger MacBook Pro. Simple things like browsing the web, checking Facebook/Twitter/email, watching YouTube or Netflix are quite easy but if you want to do a lot more with your laptop, you may need either another device or something different.

Super comfortable and great sounding
on June 10, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
* Comfort/Fit: I have always had a problem with in-ear headphones. Most of them hurt my ears either immediately or eventually. Apple's EarPods are the only headphones that I've been able to religiously use without comfort problems. These SoundSport headphones changed all of that! They fit in my ears perfectly right away and felt fantastic. They come with 3 different sized ear pieces that are really easy to remove and replace. I tried the smaller ones and felt like the headphones would fall out of my ears. The middle felt just right. I didn't try the largest one.
I went to the gym every day for about 10 days with these. These are called SoundSport so I'm sure they're made to withstand sporty type activities. I didn't get to play any actual sports in them but I did plenty at the gym. Weight lifting. Kettle bells. Elliptical. Biking. Running. Every day for at least an hour and never had any issues with these headphones even feeling like they might slip out of my ears. I honestly forgot they were in by the end of most of my workouts.
* Sound Quality: I'm sure the bar was set pretty low since most of my headphone experience has come from Apple EarPods, but I could definitely hear a difference right away. There was bass that never existed in my old headphones. Things sounded clear and great. I'm no super audiophile or anything (definitely wasn't listening to lossless music with them or anything), but I'm sure these are pretty top notch sounding headphones at their price point. I listened to mostly podcasts but threw on some music from time to time just to get a good feeling for how they sounded. I didn't test the microphone on a phone call or anything.
* Connection: Connecting to my iPhone was painless. Instructions are included if you need them and as soon as I connected, I was prompted to download a companion app. The app's features were pretty limited but it did allow me to rename my headphones, which I thought was a nice touch. There was also a place to pair other devices but I didn't do this. I assume it's pretty simple. The power button is in a nice place to easily press while the headphones are in your ear. You are greeted with a voice that tells you your battery percentage as well as the name of the device you're connected with. This little detail was very nice to me. It reminded me about how long until I had to charge the battery and I imagine the device name is great when you have a couple devices connected to the same headphones.
* Battery: After my first full charge, I was able to go 8 days at the gym before the headphones died completely. Each day at the gym was about 1-1.5 hours. So Bose's own 6 hour battery claim was even lower than what I experienced. It would probably average out if I did a more scientific test. Bottom line, the battery life was great for such a small device. The audible battery meter when turning them on helped me remember to charge them.
* Storage: A small-ish, round case with a zipper kept the headphones safe when not in use. I didn't really take the case out with me (I just wore the headphones clipped to my shirt on the way to the gym) but the case was nice to keep them while they weren't being used. Nothing super special here. Just a case.
* Conclusion: Overall, these are great headphones and I'll be using them at the gym every day for a long time. I really can't say much else.

Not terrible depending on your needs
on May 26, 2016
Posted by: swemoney
I, personally, wasn't incredibly pleased with this tablet. I'll preface my review by stating this tablet was my first experience with an Android tablet and have almost exclusive experience with iOS (Apple) devices.
Initial setup was relatively straight forward, but there were a couple of bloatware type of options that I didn't choose to participate in. I feel like things could have been more streamlined and less about logging in to a bunch of services and signing up for a bunch of things you probably don't need.
After setup, I made sure to log in to the services that were integrated like Facebook, Twitter and Google. Integration was nice for sharing and using the extra Acer dashboard that was on the left most page. This page was just populated with all of your social network stuff so tweets, facebook posts and youtube videos. You could customize this with which services you wanted displayed too.
I browsed around the app store and installed a couple of apps that I use a lot. I was happy to see 1Password available. All of the basics were there. I installed Hearthstone to see how well it ran. Running it for the first time gave me a warning that this device's specs were lower than those that were recommended but the game still ran. I played a couple of games and although the framerate definitely dropped plenty of times, it wasn't unplayable. I'd say if you're looking to play more intensive games, you may want to go for a device with some higher specs. I imagine Minecraft might run OK but I wasn't able to test it.
The hardware feels decent. The size is all right to me. I prefer a little larger just for the screen real estate but this is all just up to your preference. Sadly, my device came with a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. It's very noticeable on black and red screens, but you have to look for it most of the time. Screen resolution didn't look too bad.
Overall, I think I would only recommend this device for people who minimal needs. If you just want a device for light web browsing, email, facebook and some very casual games, you'll probably be fine with this device. Maybe as a device for kids to play some light games with. If you're looking to do actual work or play games with a lot more intense requirements, you'll probably have a bad time.

Is it possible to remove that clip on the wire?

Clip is formed plastic around the wire, so not unless you break the clip. You can move it up and down the wire. I barely noticed it, myself.

Is this earphone compatible with Andriod phone?

I didn't test them out on an Android device, but they're bluetooth headphones. So if your Android device supports Bluetooth audio, they should work fine.
