I've owned Nest products long before Google acquired the company. I'd categorize myself as a power-user of Nest devices and believe they are superior to their competitors. I have a Nest doorbell, two thermostats, three smoke/CO2 detectors and two video cameras. I wanted to add this new doorbell to my Nest network as will be used as the doorbell for a second home.
Since there was "Nest" branding all over the packaging, I thought this doorbell would be an easy addition to my Nest network via the Nest app. That changed when I realized that you can only add this next-gen device to the Google Home app. This is disappointing as the Nest app is superior to the Google Home app. I have extensive experience in website and app usability. The Nest app is far more intuitive than the Google Home app. The Google Home app is cluttered with additional icons which I don't use. The Nest app uses iconography which is clear and intuitive. It also groups icons in various rooms close together for easy access to adjust the temperature if needed while I check my video devices.
The next-gen doorbell seems to be a great device. It can operate via battery or can be hardwired. It is larger and more sturdy than the last generation. One big disappointment is the temperature range of -4 to 104 degrees. That doesn't cut it when I own homes in the upper midwest where the temps can go down to 40 below and our other home is in Arizona where the temps can reach 120+ degrees. Google is limiting their potential customer base by not engineering the specs to reach into the extreme highs and lows of wether patterns across the country.
I hope Google makes changes on the specs and the usability (via the Google Home app). In short, this is a great doorbell but it is only as great as the software and usability that goes along with using it via the app. Google/Nest engineers need to solve this and enable usage through the Nest App.

Another Great Dyson Product

I have several other Dyson products and have been very impressed with how they meld design with functionality. Their innovative air movement technology has moved from small fans to hair dryers and now to the air purifier.
I must say this Air Purifier was larger than I thought as when the box arrived, it was quite tall….but with a very small footprint, this purifier doesn’t take up much space. The volume of air it moves is quite impressive especially since the device is so quiet. Even when we run it on the highest setting, it is still quiet. We have this in our bedroom as we don’t have a ceiling fan in our room. The Dyson is perfect for this as it features a night mode. Finally, someone has figured out to dim the LED light for night operation. Kudos to Dyson - I only wish other brands would take note.
It’s difficult to measure how the quality of air has improved. We live in area with good air quality. This device features an impressive filter which we will put to the test in our vacation home this summer.
I am impressed by the consistent level of innovation that Dyson brings. They come out with a game-changing new product, then bring out significant improvements on the product over the years.
I highly recommend this air purifier. I’ve used other brands in the past and they don’t compare to the features and functions of this Dyson model. The quietness of the device is well worth the extra investment.

Fast Router

I needed to replace my Mediacom-supplied modem as it was very slow and very unreliable. I confirmed with Mediacom that the MG8702 is supported and it was. I'm going to focus my review on the modem/router itself as the Motorola App needs a lot of work.
I was able to get the MG8702 up and running quickly. I was also able to get through to Mediacom within a few minutes (which may be a new record time!) to get them to document the MAC number before the router came online. After I got the router going, I checked the speed of my connection in various places in my home using Speedtest.net. I was impressed in how much faster the download and upload speed was versus the old Mediacom-supplied router. On average, it provided 40% faster download and upload speeds. For this, the modem/router deserves a 5 star rating.
My gripe with Motorola (and all other consumer electronic companies) is their unending need to have a proprietary app for every device. My advice to them is if you're going to have an app to control some (or all) elements of the device, then it better work well. This was not the case with the MotoManage app. The app is not intuitive and kept "timing out" after every step of the setup process. The first step was to name the device....after I hit enter, it timed out two seconds later. Then it prompted me to add other people in my household to the device. After I hit enter for that, it timed out seconds later. Then, when I wanted to change the SSID and password, there was no intuitive way to find this on the app. I finally found it but there was no messaging to allow me to change the SSID and password so I didn't want to overwrite the defaults. I ended up calling Motorola customer service. Their voice system said there would be a 13 minute wait....it ended up being 35 minutes. Fortunately, they do have a call-back feature and a customer service rep did call to help me through the process. As someone who has been responsible in their career for app development, this app seems like it was designed by IT developers without a strong emphasis on the customer in terms of usability and reliability.
Another gripe I have with all cable modem manufacturers is the blinking lights on the front of the device. All modems seem to have this but on the MG8702, the Wi-fi light blinks on and off quickly - just like a strobe light. Since I have the device located right under our big-screen TV, it is annoying to have a fast-flashing light when we're watching TV - especially in the evening. There should be a way for the light settings to be controlled via the app - just like what TiVo and other set-top box manufactures provide.
All-in-all the modem works great - but all modem manufactures have to think about reimagining the box to find ways to hide flashing lights and make the app experience as good as the device experience.

High-quality blender/juicer

After using (and loving) the Breville Barista Pro for espresso, we had to try the new Breville 3x Bluicer which combines a juicer and a blender into one appliance. We have owned a lot of blenders and juicers throughout the years. With the Breville 3x Bluicer, you are getting two high-quality appliances in one box.
Juicer comments: We've never owned a juicer of this quality. The feed chute is large and can fit an entire medium-sized apple into the chute. There are 10 speeds for the juicer which allows you to set the speed of the juicer to meet the need of what you're juicing (higher speeds for apples and carrots and lower speeds for grapes and oranges). What makes this a great combo appliance is that you have the juice go right into the blender and then add additional ingredients into the blender to finish your smoothie or frozen cocktail with the blender. I'm not aware of another brand with this feature.
Blender comments: The machine knows what you're trying to do. If you have the blender on the machine, the blender settings will appear. If you have the juicer on the machine, the juicer settings will appear. There are several pre-sets on the control panel. One-touch buttons for Green Smoothies, regular smoothies, crushing ice, frozen cocktails and even an auto clean setting.
With any juicer, cleanup is a bit of a chore, but the large and sturdy parts make it easy to clean and makes you feel like it's not fragile.
It might seem a bit pricey, but you are getting a high-quality juicer and a high-quality blender so I believe the value is in the combination as well as how intuitive the controls are for both aspects of this device.
The only drawback is that it is rather large so you need to have some dedicated space to store the device (and parts) when you aren't using it.
This is a great appliance. We're already eating/drinking much healthier by way of this appliance.

Great appliance

We've had a few versions of hot water appliances. Our most recent was a high-end Japanese water heater. It took up a lot of space and you had to take your cup to the appliance. The GE kettle allows you to take the kettle to your cup or container.
The design of this kettle is simple and elegant. This version has the option of the digital display which allows you to see at a glance how hot the water or liquid is as well as adjust the temperature with the click of a button.
This is a great appliance and provides great value for the price.

Quality screen protector

When I purchase a new phone, I usually have the Best Buy phone phone sales rep install a glass screen protector. With Covid, I had to figure it out on my own! I think Otterbox does a great job of explaining how to do it properly. I watched a couple of Otterbox videos and thought it was informative.
I was able to install the screen with no issues. Since I have an iPhone 12 Pro, the screen size is large so I was concerned about how the glass would fit on the phone. It turns out that it fit perfectly. I don't even know the glass is on it.
This is a great product to compliment my Otterbox case.

Unique product for your home

We saw the these unique triangles lit up in a home on a Pinterest image, we wondered what it was. After some investigation, we discovered they were Nanoleaf Shapes. These offer an innovative way to decorate a wall and have the design and colors change to fit the season or your mood.
The adhesive on the back of each shape makes it easy to stick on the wall or move them whenever you want. The shapes connect easily.
It took us some time to figure out how to adjust the colors. (It might have helped if we read the instructions a bit more!) Once we got the design we wanted, we eventually programmed the colors for the holiday season.
The Interactive capabilities of the shapes are interesting. When you touch any shape or move your hand/finger across the surface, the colors react.
The only negative we have is that you only get seven triangles for the price. Hopefully the cost will come down as these become more popular. If you're looking for something that is truly unique for your home or office, give these a try.

Excellent toaster

We replaced a 20 year-old high-end toaster with this new GE Cafe Toaster. We are not disappointed. This is a quality appliance. The design is very sleek and modern which fits in very well with our mid-modern home. I'm most impressed by the insulation on the sides of the toaster. Most toasters run pretty hot on the sides as you are toasting something. Although it is warm, it isn't hot to the touch.
The controls are pretty basic like most new toasters, but the quality of the touch of the controls is a cut above. The buttons for the "frozen" or "bagel" settings have a great touch and the "cancel" button to pop up your toast is easy. There is no abrupt pop-up noise when you touch the cancel button. The lever for pushing down your bread is also very smooth and easy.
We also like the LED on/off indicator in the form of a light ring around the cancel button. Very nice.
This toaster comes in several contemporary colors. If you're looking for a quality toaster, this is a great choice.

Incredible sound quality

I wanted to upgrade to a premium quality wireless headset. There are many options in the market, but I decided to try the Shure AONIC 50. I was not disappointed. Shure has a long history of being the go-to choice in recording studios around the world. I used to be in the music business and would often see Shure headphones and microphones in recording studios.
The sound quality at all levels with this headset is outstanding. The bass is very "present" and the high-end and midrange is extremely well-balanced. You can modify the levels by way the EQ in the app.
The controls on the headset for volume level, song skip and more take a little getting used to as they are relatively small, but it only took a few sessions working with them to figure it out without taking the headset off.
This is a quality headset and I believe it is a great value for the cost.

Quality and value

We needed a video camera to monitor our storage shed which contains thousands of dollars in tools and equipment. The Arlo floodlight camera was the perfect solution for us. Since the shed is about 25 feed away from our house, we first made sure the WiFi signal was strong enough. Once that was confirmed, we followed the instructions, downloaded the app and installed the camera.
The installation process was fairly simple. The challenge was finding a way to plug in the device that was secure so no one could find the plug or figure out how to unplug it if they wanted to break in.
I've had Arlo products before. I find they are very good quality for the value. They continue to innovate so I'm happy with this new device.

I do not have Comcast but need internet...will this provide Internet so I can connect with my laptops
You will need to find a solution for Internet connectivity before you purchase and install this device. It will work with cable modems or DSL.
