Can the Galaxy Tab 8.4 make phone calls
Does it have a sim card slot for 3G/4G?
You can make calls using the Google hangouts app or Skype for that matter over any data connection whether it's WiFi or lte...there is an lte variant with a Sim card slot and cell antenna built in for att and verizon

Is this tablet the 2014 version?Also can it be connected to let's say verizon wireless?
This is the most current tablet samsung has made as of 12/16/14...ive WiFi tether it to my phone and there is a version available for use on Verizon I believe the model is 705 for lte variants...and I would highly recommend the lte model since WiFi tethering isn't very convenient

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 vs Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4
What are the major differences between the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4? I can't decide which one to buy right now. With my notebook in the repair/service center, I need a tablet to temporary replace my notebook. I usually just use my notebook to browse the internet, watch movies, read books, and read/view manga (graphic novels).

The major difference is the amoled screen...I know the price difference is considerable but the screen on the tab s is unbeatable, not only is it brighter and more vivid it actually ususes less energy overall but especially with dark/black backgrounds...other differences would be based around software features which can be added in with a software update...

You can...I use the Google hangouts app but I'm sure Skype would work also...this is one of the reasons I bought the tablet.

Can I read/download Nook books on samsung tablets?
OMG yes!...this is one of the best uses for this tablet...since the amoled screen essentially only light up the actual pixel being used this has the absolute best contrast ratio and is dream to read on...I would suggest changing the settings on your reader app to black background with white text...this will give you the most comfortable reading environment since it'll cut down glare and save you precious battery life...I use the nook app personally and setting it to night mode and dimming the screen all the way down means the app is using almost no battery and I don't have an extremely bright back light burning up the battery or hurting my eyes...the next best solution would be a separate eReader but this tablet does that and so much more

battery charging
How long does it take to fully charge ? Mine was brand new but took about 2 hours just for 15%, is it normal or I have defective one?
Using the standard samsung charger it takes roughly an hour fifteen...depends if I'm using it heavily while it's charging like let's say playing a high end 3d game like gta or nova/modern combat...remember there are different ratings for certain charging bricks, the typical samung one is 2.1 amps and some knock off brands can be as low as .8 amps...I'd suggest checking your power brick/charger

Warranty
Does this come with the Samsung manufacturer's warranty?
Not to sure what the warranty entailed since I opted for the 2 year geek squad protection. According to samsung website it has a 1 year on the battery, tablet and any accessories included in the package
